Reactions of polyhydric phenols with nitrogen-containing acetals in the synthesis of polyphenols and heterocyclic compounds

The review systematizes and summarizes the data on the reactions of nitrogen-containing acetals with phenols. Both intra- and intermolecular reactions leading to acyclic, macrocyclic, and heterocyclic compounds are considered.     

Spirophosphoranes from the Reaction of Disalicylaldimines with Trivalent Phosphorus Acid Amides

Abstract

A new approach to the synthesis of spirophosphoranes 9, 11, 15a-c containing P-C, P-O, and P-N intramolecular bonds was developed. It is based on the reaction of trivalent phosphorus acid amides with bis(o-hydroxyaryl)diimines. The composition and structure of the products obtained were confirmed by NMR methods, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X-ray analysis.     

Synthesis and binding ability of mono- and tetrasubstituted aminophosphonate Zn-tetraarylporphyrins towards N- and O-containing organic substrates

The 1,6-addition of mono- and tetra-amino 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrins with dimethyl-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienylidenemethyl)phosphonate leads to the corresponding mono- and tetrasubstituted aminophosphonate porphyrin derivatives. The binding ability of their Zn(II)-complexes towards 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane, imidazole, 4-(1H-imidazole-1-yl)benzyl alcohol and 4-(1H-imidazole-1-ylmethyl)benzyl alcohol in toluene was investigated by spectrophotometric and ¹H NMR titration. It has been determined that the monosubstituted Zn-tetraarylporphyrin is involved in a two-point selective binding of 4-(1H-imidazole-1-ylmethyl)benzyl alcohol. Taking into account the fact that this binding is accompanied by a clear and easily identifiable response in the UV–vis spectra of the reaction mixture, this metalloporphyrin could be considered as a molecular optical sensing device for selected bidentate N- and O-containing substrates.     

Synthesis of sterically hindered phenol-containing phosphorylated isatin derivatives

Addition of isatin to the exocyclic double bond of dimethyl (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienylidene)methylphosphonate gave dimethyl (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)(2,3-dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-1-yl)methylphosphonate. Its subsequent functionalization in reactions with thiosemicarbazide and 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionohydrazide yielded isatin derivatives containing several pharmacophoric fragments.     

Pyridoxal reactions with amines and aliphatic diamines

Interaction of pyridoxal (3-hydroxy-5-hydroxymethyl-2-methylisonicotinaldehyde) with amines, mono- and disubstituted diamines led to the formation of compounds having in their structure imine, imidazolidine, and pyrimidine moieties. Structure of the obtained compounds was proved by IR data, ¹H NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and X-ray diffraction analysis.
