In this study, adsorption characteristics of a negatively charged dye, Acid Blue 25 (AB25), on pomelo pith (PP) was studied by varying the adsorption parameters, with the aim of evaluating the adsorption mechanism and establishing the role of hydrogen bonding interactions of AB25 on agricultural wastes. The kinetics, intraparticle diffusion, mechanism, and thermodynamics of the AB25 adsorption were systematically evaluated and analyzed by pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models, the Weber–Morris intraparticle and Boyd mass transfer models, the Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich, and Temkin isotherm models, and the Van’t Hoff equation. It was found that AB25 adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics, governed by a two-step pore-volume intraparticle diffusion of external mass transfer of AB25 onto the PP surface. The adsorption process occurred spontaneously. The adsorption mechanism could be explained by the Langmuir isotherm model, and the maximum adsorption capacity was estimated to be 26.9 mg g−1, which is comparable to many reported adsorbents derived from agricultural wastes. Changes in the vibrational spectra of the adsorbent before and after dye adsorption suggested that AB25 molecules are bound to the PP surface via electrostatic and hydrogen bonding interactions. The results demonstrated that the use of pomelo pith, similar to other agricultural wastes, would provide a basis to design a simple energy-saving, sustainable, and cost-effective approach to remove negatively charged synthetic dyes from wastewater.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of a spin-1 Ising system with arbitrary bilinear and biquadratic pair interactions is studied by using the path probability method, and approaches of the system toward the stable or metastable equilibrium states according to the ratio of interaction parameters and rate constants are presented. In particular, we investigate the relaxation of the order parameters for temperatures less than, equal to, and greater than the second-order and first-order phase transitions. From this investigation, the “flatness” property of metastable states is seen explicitly. We also show how a system freezes in a metastable state as well as how it escapes from one metastable state to the other.  相似文献

The free radical copolymerization of poly(t-butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) macromonomer with styrene in ethanol give monodispersed microspheres with 0.8-1.6 μm diameter. The resulting microspheres were treated with HCl solution to convert into anionic microspheres having poly(methacrylic acid) chains. ESCA analysis of the microsphere surface suggested that PBMA chains were favorably located on the surface of the microspheres. The particle size of the microspheres decreased with increasing molecular weight and concentration of the macromonomer. Water dispersibilities of the microspheres were evaluated by measuring the relative turbidity of the suspension of microspheres as a function of pH. A mathematical model is described for surface‐initiated photopolymerization of PEG‐DA forming crosslinked biofunctional PEG hydrogel membranes based on the NF technique. The model includes an additional monomer with biological functionality, which is a common experimental strategy for the design of ECM mimics in tissue engineering in order to direct signaling pathways, and considers concentration‐dependent VP propagation and reaction diffusion termination. The influence of these features on the crosslink density of the soluble and gel phases, the progression through gelation, sol/gel fraction, and molecular weight distribution of biofunctional PEG hydrogel are studied using the NF model. This model may be useful for specific applications of tissue engineering.

The pH within cell wall pores of filter paper fibers and hemp fibers was assessed by Fluorescence Ratio Imaging (FRIM). It was found that the Donnan effect affected the pH measured within the fibers. When the conductivity of the added liquid was low (0.7 mS), pH values were lower within the cell wall than in the bulk solution. This was not the case at high conductivity (22 mS). The occurrence of the Donnan effect allowed the pH values within pores in normal regions of the cell wall to be compared to the pH in regions with misaligned microfibrils (dislocations) when FRIM was carried out in a low conductivity solution. Surprisingly, no pH difference was observed between normal regions and dislocations, suggesting that pore sizes within the two different regions are approximately the same. In another experiment the Donnan effect was shown to have an effect on hydrolysis of hydrothermally pretreated wheat straw only when conducted in a low conductivity solution and only for xylanase, not cellulases. The hydrolysis experiments indicate that under typical conditions where conductivity is high, the Donnan effect does not lower the pH close to the substrate to an extent that affects enzymatic activity during hydrolysis of lignocellulose.  相似文献

The Sumatran forest plants Lerchea cf. bracteata and L. parviflora were found to contain alkaloids and their extract showed siginificant activity toward some testing pathogenic microbes. Isolation work on L.cf bracteata yielded known quaternary alkaloid N(b)-methylantirhine (2) while L. parviflora gave 5,6-dihydroflavopereirine (3).  相似文献

Theory and applications of multiplicative and Volterra calculi have been evolving rapidly over the recent years. As numerical minimization methods have a wide range of applications in science and engineering, the idea of the design of minimization methods based on multiplicative and Volterra calculi is self-evident. In this paper, the well-known Newton minimization method for one and two variables is developed in the frameworks of multiplicative and Volterra calculi. The efficiency of these proposed minimization methods is exposed by examples, and the results are compared with the original minimization method. One of the striking results of the proposed method is that the rate of convergence and the range of initial values are considerably larger compared to the original method.  相似文献

A multiwavelength Brillouin/erbium fiber laser (BEFL) with low threshold power is realized. A low threshold power of 3 mW and a wide tuning range of 18 nm can be achieved by controlling the reflected power in the nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM). Up to 24 lines with a wavelength spacing of 0.086 nm are generated at the Brillouin pump and at the 1 480-nm pump with 0.5 dBm (0.9 mW) and 25 mW of power, respectively.  相似文献
