Surface energy and surface area measurements by 19F MAS NMR of adsorbed trifluoroacetic acid

Trifluoroacetic acid, when adsorbed on the surface of inorganic materials, is a useful (19)F NMR probe molecule for studying surface properties including surface energy and surface area.     

Nitriloacetate complexes of 3d-transition metals as materials for piezoelectric ammonia detectors

A piezo-quartz microbalance method was used to study the interaction of solid nitriloacetate complexes NaMNta (M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) with water and ammonia vapor. Feasibility was demonstrated for the use of NaCuNta and NaZnNta as materials for selective ammonia gas detectors.Deceased.L. V.
