Apodization, which is a tool frequently used for cosmetic representation and efficient modeling of a spectrum, is now also adopted in techniques for the quantitative retrieval of parameters from observed spectra. Whether apodization can help in quantitative spectroscopy is the subject of debate in the literature. We find that, when the considered spectral range is wide enough to accurately model the instrument line shape, the same results can be obtained with and without apodization of the spectrum. However, when a truncation error is introduced by the limited extension of the modeled spectral interval, apodization can efficiently reduce this error. The mineral inclusions of two orange glass tesserae from paleo-Christian mosaics were investigated in order to derive the

In this study, carbon black/polystyrene electrically conductive composites were obtained by suspension polymerization technique. The composite was characterized using transmission electron microscopy, which indicated two outstanding features concerning to the carbon black; first, that the carbon particles were adsorbed onto the surface of the polystyrene particles, similarly as in the Pickering emulsion phenomenon and second, that the primary aggregate structure of the carbon black was significantly affected by the dispersion process. On the other hand, the composite resistivity was in the order of 200 Ωcm, which was attributed to the direct contact of primary carbon black particles (percolation) and not to the tunneling effect. Quantum systems such as, for example, photons, atoms, or Bose-Einstein condensates, prepared in complex states where entanglement between distinct degrees of freedom is present, may display several intriguing features. In this Letter we introduce the concept of such complex quantum states for intense beams of light by exploiting the properties of cylindrically polarized modes. We show that already in a classical picture the spatial and polarization field variables of these modes cannot be factorized. Theoretically it is proven that by quadrature squeezing cylindrically polarized modes one generates entanglement between these two different degrees of freedom. Experimentally we demonstrate amplitude squeezing of an azimuthally polarized mode by exploiting the nonlinear Kerr effect in a specially tailored photonic crystal fiber. These results display that such novel continuous-variable entangled systems can, in principle, be realized. 相似文献

The random noise of the laser speckle field which develops at the focusing plane of an imaging system, is, by now, efficiently used in several interferometric techniques as an information carrier of the macroscopic wavefront distortion induced by the surface displacement field of the object under investigation. The actual noise in this kind of techniques is represented by the speckle decorrelation at the image plane — i.e. the destruction of the carrier — which may be caused by the modification of the texture surface (e.g. by yielding under a severe stress state), but it is inherently produced by the same displacement field under measurement. In the paper the phenomenon of laser speckle decorrelation is numerically simulated and experimentally investigated with the aim of estimating its sensitivity to local deformation and assessing a possible field of application. Satisfactory results in the field of NDT of multilayer fiber-reinforced composites were obtained by reducing the diaphragm of the lens to increase the sensitivity of the imaging system to speckle decorrelation induced by local deformation; unfortunately this simple approach requires a considerable amount of laser power for illuminating the object. Different aperture shapes were therefore numerically simulated which provided improved efficiency and sensitivity and whereby a semi-quantitative analysis of the displacement field could be experimented. 相似文献

For a fixed integern, it is well-known that there are in general uncountably many isomorphism classes of nilpotent Lie algebra of dimensionn; but we show that there arefinitely many systems of weights, and each of them is explicitely constructed. The class of those Lie algebras having a given (arbitrary) system of weights is also studied.The first chapter is a setting for the study of nilpotent Lie algebras, used to prove some general theorems. In the second chapter, attention is restricted to a class of nilpotent Lie algebras for which our setting is particularly well adapted.
