Resonant states for the scattering of slow particles by screened potentials

Partial resonant situations for the scattering of slow particles with nonzero angular momenta by short-range screened Yukawa and Buckingham potentials are considered. The problem of electron scattering by a hydrogen atom placed in a plasma medium is discussed. A general scheme of resonances has been constructed in the Pais approximation.     

New type of the nanostructured composite Si/C electrodes

The silicon-carbon composite films, with the silicon and carbon relative content from 39.5: 60.5 to 87: 13 and thickness 100–480 nm, are prepared by magnetron sputtering with layer-by-layer deposition of the components. The film structure is studied by using X-ray diffraction analysis and atomic-force microscopy. All studied films were found to be roentgen-amorphous. Despite the films were deposited in a layer-by-layer mode, they have granular structure, with the granules sized 10–80 nm. The lithium incorporation from LiClO₄ solution in propylene carbonate-dimethoxyethane mixture is studied. All studied films reversibly incorporate lithium; thus, they can serve as the basis for negative electrodes of lithium-ion batteries. The initial capacity of the composite-film electrodes is 1.5 to 2.8 A h/g. As the films are submerged to cycling, the capacity decreases, mainly due to the films’ insufficiently strong adhesion to the substrate, which results in the film defoliation. The most cycling-resistant are the thinnest films containing no less than 30% carbon. The capacity of the best samples is as high as 1 A h/g after 200 cycles.     

State of active components on the surface of the PdCl<Subscript>2</Subscript>-CuCl<Subscript>2</Subscript>/γ-Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> catalyst for the low-temperature oxidation of carbon monoxide

The state of the active constituents of the freshly prepared PdCl₂-CuCl₂/γ-Al₂O₃ catalyst for the low-temperature oxidation of the carbon monoxide by molecular oxygen was studied by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and diffuse reflectance IR Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS). It was shown that copper in the form of a crystalline phase of Cu₂Cl(OH)₃ with the structure of the mineral paratacamite and palladium chloride in an amorphous state occurred on the surface of γ-Al₂O₃. According to XAS data, the local environment of palladium consisted of four chlorine atoms, which formed a flat square with an increased distance between palladium and one of the chlorine atoms. The evolution of the local environments of copper and palladium upon a transition from the initial salts to the impregnating solutions and chlorides on the surface of γ-Al₂O₃ was considered. The role of γ-Al₂O₃ in the formation of the Cu₂Cl(OH)₃ phase was discussed. It was found by the DRIFTS method that linear (2114 cm⁻¹) and bridging (1990 and 1928 cm⁻¹) forms of coordinated carbon monoxide were formed upon the adsorption of CO on the catalyst surface. The formation of CO₂ upon the interaction of coordinated CO with atmospheric oxygen was detected. Active sites including copper and palladium were absent from the surface of the freshly prepared catalyst.

A first order differential-operator equation with an operator-coefficient generating a C₀ class semi-group is studied. Boundary conditions for which this equation possesses a unique solution dependent continuously on its right-hand side are derived. Two theorems are formulated and proved.
