β-SiC nanowires were synthesized by a simple carbothermal reduction of carbonaceous silica xerogel. The morphology and structure of the nanowires were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that the nanowires were hexagonal prism-shaped hierarchical nanostructures. The typical stacking faults and twin defects of SiC nanowires were also observed. Band-gap characterization and photoluminescence properties of SiC nanowires were investigated by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence photometry, respectively. The results showed the SiC nanowire was an indirect transition semiconductor and the band gap energy for the SiC nanowires was 2.85 eV. The photoluminescence peak value at 470 nm (2.64 eV) originating from the SiC nanowires was a little higher than the value of band-gap energy.  相似文献

Femtosecond pulses can be shaped in the time domain by diffraction from dynamic holograms in a photorefractive multiple quantum well placed inside a Fourier pulse shaper. We present several examples of shaped pulses obtained by controlling the amplitude or the phase of the hologram writing beams, which modifies the complex spectrum of the femtosecond output.  相似文献

We present a search for excited and exotic electrons (e(*)) decaying to an electron and a photon, both with high transverse momentum. We use 202 pb(-1) of data collected in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.96 TeV with the Collider Detector at Fermilab II detector. No signal above standard model expectation is seen for associated ee(*) production. We discuss the e(*) sensitivity in the parameter space of the excited electron mass M(e(*)) and the compositeness energy scale Lambda. In the contact interaction model, we exclude 132 GeV/c(2)相似文献

Deleted segments of speech can be restored perceptually if they are replaced by a louder noise. An earlier study of this "phonemic restoration effect" found that, when recorded discourse was interrupted periodically by noise, the durational limit for illusory continuity corresponded to the average word duration. The present study employed a different passage of discourse recorded by a different speaker. Durational limits for apparent continuity of discourse interrupted by noise were measured at the normal (original) playback speed, as well as at rates that were 15% greater and 15% less. At the normal playback rate, once again the limit of continuity approximated the average word duration--but of especial interest was the finding that changes in playback rate produced proportional changes in continuity limits. These results, together with other evidence, suggest that phonemic restorations represent a special linguistic application of a general auditory mechanism (auditory induction) producing appropriate syntheses of obliterated sounds, and that for discourse the limits of illusory continuity correspond to a fixed amount of verbal information, and not a fixed temporal value.  相似文献

We present the results of searches for large extra dimensions in samples of events with large missing transverse energy E_{T} and either a photon or a jet produced in pp[over ] collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab II. For gamma+E_{T} and jet+E_{T} candidate samples corresponding to 2.0 and 1.1 fb;{-1} of integrated luminosity, respectively, we observe good agreement with standard model expectations and obtain a combined lower limit on the fundamental parameter of the large extra dimensions model M_{D} as a function of the number of extra dimensions in the model.  相似文献

We report the first measurements of inclusive W and Z cross sections times leptonic branching ratios for pp collisions at square root[s]=1.96 TeV, based on their decays to electrons and muons. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 pb(-1) recorded with the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We test e-mu universality in W decays, and we measure the ratio of leptonic W and Z rates from which the leptonic branching fraction B(W-->lnu) can be extracted as well as an indirect value for the total width of the W and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element, |V(cs)|.  相似文献

The standard model predictions for Wgamma and Zgamma production are tested using an integrated luminosity of 200 pb(-1) of pp collision data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The cross sections are measured by selecting leptonic decays of the W and Z bosons, and photons with transverse energy ET>7 GeV that are well separated from leptons. The production cross sections and kinematic distributions for the Wgamma and Zgamma data are compared to SM predictions.  相似文献

We present a search for associated production of the Upsilon(1S) and a vector boson in 83 pb(-1) of ppmacr; collisions at sqrt[s]=1.8 TeV collected by the CDF experiment in 1994-1995.
