A canonical (i.e., unrestricted) version of the partition theorem for k-parameter sets of Graham and Rothschild (Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.159 (1971), 257–291) is proven. Some applications, e.g., canonical versions, of the Rado-Folkman-Sanders theorem and of the partition theorem for finite Boolean algebras are given. Also the Erdös-Rado canonization theorem (J. Controlled and reproducible fabrication of nano-structured materials will be one of the main industrial challenges in the next few years. We have recently proposed exploitation of the nano-structuring potential of a high resolution Focused Ion Beam Tool, to overcome basic limitations of current nano-fabrication techniques. The aim of this article is to present some new routes for material patterning, which benefit from ion-induced local property modifications or damage. In the experiments we describe hereafter an ultra-sharp pencil of 30 keV gallium ions is used to tailor the characteristics of several materials at a scale of a few nanometres. The experimental results are then compared to simulations. First, we simulate the control of collisional defects generated in a thin magnetic layer under FIB irradiation. The results explain the stable magnetic structures we have obtained experimentally. This was achieved with a low surface ion dose (1012 to 1014 ions/cm2). In addition we have explored the promising direction of Bottom-up or self-organization processes using a FIB instrument. We have defined artificial surface defects. These defects created by the impact of an 8-nm FWHM probe were used to pin the diffusion and to organize nanometre-sized gold clusters on a graphite surface. PACS 79.20.Rf; 81.07.-b  相似文献

Background  

We explored spatio-temporal patterns of cortical activity evoked by written words from super-ordinate and sub-ordinate semantic categories and hoped to find a differential cortical and/or temporal distribution of the brain response depending on the level of the categories. Twenty-three subjects saw 360 words belonging to six sub-ordinate categories (mammals, birds, fish, fruit, flowers, trees) within two super-ordinate categories (fauna, flora). Visually evoked magnetic fields were determined from whole-head (148-sensor) magnetoencephalography and analyzed in the source space (Minimum Norm Estimate).  相似文献

A combinatorial synthesis of oligopeptide analogues and their evaluation as protein:geranylgeranyl transferase inhibitors is presented. The combinatorial strategy is based on the random mutation, in each new generation, of one of any of the four amino acid building blocks of which the most effective compounds of the previous generation are assembled. In this way, a progressive improvement of the average inhibitory activity was observed until the fifth generation. The most active inhibitors were found to inhibit PGGT-1 in the low micromolar range (IC(50): 3.8-8.1 microM).  相似文献

Glycopeptides were isolated from functional units of two molluscan hemocyanins (Hcs). They were analyzed and localized in the sequences. A comparison with potential N-glycosylation sites of two other molluscan Hcs was made. An immunological cross-reactivity was observed between the beta-Hc and the alpha-macroglobulin of Helix pomotia. ELISA experiments with glycopeptide fractions indicated a competition.  相似文献

Pure organic molecules exhibiting a suitable concave rigid shape are expected to give porous glasses in the solid state. Such a feature opens new opportunities to avoid crystallization and to improve molecular solubility in relation to the high internal energy of these solid phases. To quantitatively explore the latter strategy, a series of rigid tetrahedral conjugated molecules nC and the corresponding models nR have been synthesized. Related to the present purpose, several properties have been investigated using UV absorption, steady-state fluorescence emission, differential scanning calorimetry, (1)H NMR translational self-diffusion, magic angle spinning (13)C NMR, and multiple-beam interferometry experiments. The present tetrahedral crosses are up to 8 orders of magnitude more soluble than the corresponding model compounds after normalization to the same molecular length. In addition, they give concentrated monomeric solutions that can be used to cover surfaces with homogeneous films whose thickness goes down to the nanometer range. Such attractive features make cross-like molecular architectures promising for many applications.  相似文献
