Robust hydrogen-bonded self-assemblies from biimidazole complexes. Synthesis and structural characterization of [M(biimidazole)2(OH2)2]2+ (M = Co2+, Ni2+) complexes and carboxylate modules

A robust heteromeric hydrogen-bonded synthon [R2(2) (9)-Id] is exploited to drive the modular self-assembly of four coordination complexes [M(H2biim)2(OH2)2]2+ (M = Co2+, Ni2+) and carboxylate counterions. This strategy allowed us to build molecular architectures of 0-, 1-, and 2-dimensions. A hydrogen-bonded 2D-network with cavities has been designed, which maintains its striking integrity after reversible water desorption-resorption processes.     

Formation of enamides via palladium(II)-catalyzed vinyl transfer from vinyl ethers to nitrogen nucleophiles

Palladium(II) complexes catalyze the formation of enamides via the formal cross-coupling reaction between nitrogen nucleophiles and vinyl ethers. These vinyl transfer reactions proceed in good yields with amide, carbamate, and sulfonamide nucleophiles, and the optimal catalyst is (DPP)Pd(OCOCF(3))(2) (DPP = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline). Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Dimethyl-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene exo,exo-2,3-dicarboxylate

Dimethyl-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene exo,exo-2,3-dicarboxylate (1) was prepared by Fisher esterification of 7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]-hept-5-ene exo-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride (2) in methanol. The colorless plates obtained were characterized by FT-IR, ¹H- and ¹³C-NMR, TGA-DSC, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The material crystallizes in space group P2₁/c, with a = 9.2375(14) Å, b = 12.8757(18) Å, c = 9.4608(15) Å, β = 115.327(3)°, V = 1017.1(3) Å³, and Z = 4. Chains of hydrogen-bonded molecules along the c-axis interact in the b direction to form layers parallel to the bc plane.     

A Semi-Classical Trace Formula at a Totally Degenerate Critical Level

We study the semi-classical trace formula at a critical energy level for an h-pseudo-differential operator on n whose principal symbol has a totally degenerate critical point for that energy. This problem is studied for a large time behavior and under the hypothesis that the principal symbol of the operator has a local extremum at the critical point.This work was supported by the IHP-Network Analysis and Quantum, reference number HPRN-CT-2002-00277. Time domain investigation on vibrational dephasing and spectral diffusion in CO-doped solid N2

Infrared picosecond accumulated photon echo experiments have been performed for the first time, using the Orsay Free Electron Laser, on the v = 0-->v = 1 transition of CO in solid nitrogen. The vibrational dephasing time is found to be exceptionally long ( T2>/=120 ns) at low temperature. The analysis of the observed spectral diffusion leads one to assume different energy transfer mechanisms depending on the CO concentration.     

On the decay of the solutions of second order parabolic equations with Dirichlet conditions

We use rearrangement techniques to investigate the decay of the parabolic Dirichlet problem in a bounded domain. The coefficients of the second order term are used to introduce an isoperimetric problem. The resulting isoperimetric function together with the divergence of the first order coefficients and the value distribution of the zero order part are then used to construct a symmetric comparison equation having a slower heat‐flow than the original equation. On the Caginalp phase-field system based on type III with two temperatures and nonlinear coupling.

This paper is devoted to the study of a generalization of the Caginalp phase-field system based on the theory of type III thermomechanics with two temperatures for the heat conduction with a nonlinear coupling term. We start our analysis by establishing existence of the solutions. Then, we discuss dissipativity and uniqueness of the solutions. We finish our analysis by studying the spatial behavior of the solutions in a semi-infinite cylinder, assuming the existence of such solutions.
