Mass spectral libraries provide a tool for identifying unknown compounds using both molecular weight and fragmentation information. Mass spectrometers with electrospray ionisation (ESI) and atmospheric chemical ionisation (ApCI) sources have the capability to produce data of this type using in-source collisionally induced dissociation (CID), and in-source CID libraries can be created. Due to the variation in electrospray source design from different instrument manufacturers, the production of reproducible in-source CID spectra that can be used in libraries for all instrument types is not a trivial task. To date, the evaluation of the production of in-source CID libraries has tended to focus on similar instruments from one manufacturer. The studies have also tended to focus on specific compound classes, with a limited molecular weight range.This report describes the findings from the investigation of protocols for the creation of mass spectral libraries using ESI in-source CID on six instruments from four different manufacturers. The overall goal was to create a spectral library for the identification of unknowns. The library could then be applied across all manufacturers' electrospray instruments.Two different experimental protocols were attempted. The first used a tuning compound to establish standard ESI source conditions, with fixed fragmentation potentials. The second involved the attenuation of the [M + H](+) ion to a known degree. A diverse range of compounds (pharmaceutical, photographic, pesticides) was tested to establish the reproducibility of the spectra on the six instruments. Both protocols produced spectra on the various instruments that in many cases were very similar. In other examples, the spectra differed not only in their relative ion abundances, but also in terms of the spectral content. Important observations regarding the effect of ion source design are also reported.The degree of spectral reproducibility was calculated off-line by comparing the five most abundant ions (20% for each ion that matches) from each spectrum on each instrument. This approach was adopted, as we do not possess a software package that met our requirements for spectral comparison. Match factors (% fit) were calculated by comparing each spectrum against the spectra recorded for the same compound and then for all other compounds, on each instrument. The % fit values derived by the off-line approach gave a clear view of the spectral reproducibility from instrument to instrument and also discriminated the spectra of the various compounds from each other. The applicability of this approach was tested using a blind trial in which several compounds were presented as unknowns, their in-source CID spectra recorded and the five-ion approach used for identification. 相似文献

The nitrosyl clusters PPN[YCCo3(CO)7(NO)] (Y = Me, Ph, COOH, (C5H5)Fe(C5H4)) have been prepared in high yield from the reaction of YCCo3(CO)9 with PPN(NO2) in THF, acetone or acetonitrile. Spectroscopic evidence indicates the structure of the nitrosyl anions is derived from that of YCCo3(CO)9 by the replacement of two CO ligands on one cobalt atom by a linear, terminal nitrosyl group. The nitrosyl metallates are extremely sensitive to oxidation and attempts to protonate the anions resulted in the reformation of the parent YCCo3(CO)9, molecules. The oxidative electrochemistry of the ferrocene complex, PPN[(C5H5)Fe(C5H4CCo3(CO)7(NO)] is also discussed. 相似文献

An electrospray ionization (ESI) ambient pressure ion-mobility spectrometer (APIMS) interfaced to an orthogonal reflector time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOFMS) was evaluated for the first time as a detector for the identification of phenylthiohydantoin (PTH)-derivatized amino acids, the final products in the Edman sequencing process of peptides and proteins. The drift and flight times of the twenty common PTH amino acids were characterized by a well-defined 2-D mobility/mass spectral pattern. The combination of mobility/mass modes of analysis gave rise to a unique trend-line formation for the series of PTH amino acids. In addition, each PTH amino acid had a unique reduced mobility constant K(o), thus enabling the differentiation of all the amino acid derivatives including the PTH-leucine and PTH-isoleucine isomers. More importantly it was shown that it was possible to resolve a complete reference mixture of PTH amino acids in a single experimental run in less than 1 min. Detection limits for the PTH amino acids were found to range from 1.04 to 3.52 ng; indicating that the limits of detection were less than 17.0 pmol for all of the PTH amino acids. 相似文献

The first integrally oxidized metal-free phthalocyanine compounds have been synthesized by chemical oxidation. Phthalocyanine (H(2)(pc), pc = phthalocyaninato) was oxidized with IBr to afford the compounds [H(2)(pc)][IBr(2)] (1) and [H(2)(pc)](2)[IBr(2)]BrAC(10)H(7)Br (2), whose structures were determined by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods: [H(2)(pc)][IBr(2)], P2(1)/c, a = 8.0272(9) A, b = 21.258(2) A, c = 18.1439(2) A, beta = 113.975(2) degrees, V = 2828.8(5) A(3), T = 153 K, Z = 4; [H(2)(pc)](2)[IBr(2)]Br.C(10)H(7)Br, P, a = 8.4724(6) A, b = 13.5794(10) A, c = 13.8403(10) A, alpha = 90.854(1) degrees, beta = 103.417(1) degrees, gamma = 97.049(1)E degrees, V = 1535.61(19) A(3), T = 153 K, Z = 1. The extended structure of [H(2)(pc)][IBr(2)] comprises slipped columns of pc rings stacked along the a axis in adjacent columns at approximately 70 degrees to one another. IBr(2-) ions occupy the interstitial columns. The extended structure of [H(2)(pc)](2)[IBr(2)]Br.C(10)H(7)Br comprises slant stacks of pc rings along the crystallographic a axis with IBr(2-) ions, Br(-) ions, and disordered 1-bromonaphthalene molecules in the adjacent, parallel columns. The overall reaction for the formation of 1 is 2H(2)(pc) + 4IBr --> 2[H(2)(pc)][IBr(2)] + I(2), and the overall reaction for the formation of 2 (not including solvent) is 2H(2)(pc) + 3IBr --> [H(2)(pc)](2)Br[IBr(2)] + I(2). 相似文献

The protonation of five representative oxaziridines is reported for inert solvents (deuterio-chloroform or carbon tetrachloride) where conjugate acid formation may be effected by the addition of about 20% (v/v) TFA. Comparison of the 1H nmr chemical shifts for neutral and conjugate acid forms suggests that oxaziridines usually undergo protonation on the N-atom under these conditions. For one compound studied, 2-ethyl-3-p-nitrophenyloxaziridine, there is a possibility that protonation occurs on the alternative O-atom. The relevance of these findings to the mechanism of the acid-catalysed hydrolysis of oxaziridines is discussed. 相似文献

Cu(2)S nanocrystals with disklike morphologies were synthesized by the solventless thermolysis of a copper alkylthiolate molecular precursor. The nanodisks ranged from circular to hexagonal prisms from 3 to 150 nm in diameter and 3 to 12 nm in thickness depending on the growth conditions. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) revealed the high chalcocite (hexagonal) crystal structure oriented with the c-axis ([001] direction) orthogonal to the favored growth direction. This disk morphology is thermodynamically favored as it allows the extension of the higher energy [100] and [110] surfaces with respect to the [001] planes. The hexagonal prism morphology also appears to relate to increased C-S bond cleavage of adsorbed dodecanethiol along the more energetic [100] facets relative to [001] facets. Monodisperse Cu(2)S nanodisks self-assemble into ribbons of stacked platelets. This solventless approach provides a new technique to synthesize anisotropic metal chalcogenide nanostructures with shapes that depend on both the face-sensitive thermodynamic surface energy and the surface reactivity. 相似文献

Efficient syntheses are reported for incorporating trimetal units of the type M(3)(dpa)(4)(2+) (M = Cr, Co, Ni, and dpa = 2,2'-dipyridylamide) into polyalkynyl assemblies to give the prototypical bis-phenylacetylide complexes M(3)(dpa)(4)(CCPh)(2). Reactions of M(3)(dpa)(4)Cl(2) with LiCCPh have led only to mixtures of products which cocrystallize forming materials of the composition M(3)(dpa)(4)(CCPh)(x)()Cl(2)(-)(x)(). Here we report that acetonitrile complexes [M(3)(dpa)(4)(NCCH(3))(2)](PF(6))(2) react cleanly with LiCCPh in MeCN to afford the desired target molecules in 40-60% yield and in excellent purity. Isolation of the mixed ligand complex [Co(3)(dpa)(4)(NCCH(3))(CCPh)]PF(6) has been accomplished, which suggests that these reactions are stepwise and that it will be possible to synthesize mixed acetylide complexes (i.e., M(3)(dpa)(4)(CCR)(CCR')) via this method. 相似文献

The rotational mobilities of small solute molecules encapsulated in tetramethyl orthosilicate (TMOS) sol-gels have been investigated by EPR spectroscopy of encapsulated nitroxide probes and by high-resolution NMR spectroscopic measurements of transferred NOE's (trNOE's), of T(1)'s, and of T(1)'s in the rotating frame (T(1)rho). The two spectroscopic methods are sensitive to motions on different time scales and hence, are nicely complementary. Suites of neutral, positively, and negatively charged nitroxide probes (EPR) and of simple diamagnetic small molecules (NMR) were selected to disclose influences of electrostatic interactions with the sol-gel walls and to probe the presence of multiple populations of molecules in distinct regions of the sol-gel pores. For neutral and negatively charged solute probes, both techniques disclose a single population with a significantly increased average rotational correlation time, which we interpret at least in part as resulting from exchange between free-volume and transiently immobilized surface populations. The electrostatic attraction between cationic probes and the negatively charged sol-gel walls causes the positively charged probes to be more effectively immobilized and/or causes a greater percentage of probes to undergo this transient immobilization. The EPR spectra directly disclose a population of cationic probes which are immobilized on the X-band EPR time scale: tau(c) greater than or approximately equal 10(-7) s. However, NMR measurements of trNOE's and of T(1)rho demonstrate that this population does exchange with the free-volume probes on the slower time scale of NMR. Motivated by recent advances in solid-state incoherent ultraviolet sources and solar blind detectors, we study communication link performance over a range of less than 1 km with a bit error rate (BER) below 10(-3) in solar blind non-line-of-sight situation. The widely adopted yet complex single scattering channel model is significantly simplified by means of a closed-form expression for tractable analysis. Path loss is given as a function of transceiver geometry as well as atmospheric scattering and attenuation and is compared with experimental data for model validation. The BER performance of a shot-noise-limited receiver under this channel model is demonstrated. 相似文献
