Abstract The [13C]aminopyrine breath test ([13C]ABT) measures the global activity of cytochrome P450 in vivo and is a sensitive indicator of liver metabolic dysfunction. The present study aims to determine whether gender and cigarette smoking influence the results of [13C]ABT as well as to confirm the effect of oral contraceptive steroids (OCS) intake on this metabolic test. Hundred and ten healthy subjects, including men and women, smoker and non-smoker, women taking OCS or not, were phenotyped for CYP1A2 using the [13C]caffeine breath test and underwent a [13C]ABT. Both tests showed large inter-individual variations in accordance with that of CYP450 liver content. [13C]ABT was sensitive enough to point out a significant induction or inhibition related to cigarette smoking habits or OCS. The combined effect of smoking and OCS resulted in an overall unchanged metabolic activity. Consequently, the impact of the studied conditions on the [13C]ABT parameters must be considered by clinicians or clinical investigators. 相似文献

DFT calculations of 2(1H)-pyridinone (2-pyridone NHP), the centrosymmetric dimer (NHP)2 and the closed complexes (NHP, H2O) and (NHP, 2H2O), with their deuterated homologues NDP, (NDP)2, (NDP, D2O) and (NDP, 2D2O), are compared with vibrational spectra of NHP and NDP in ternary mixtures CH3CN, NHP, H2O. Experimental data are also obtained for NHP or NDP in various solvents. The protic solvent effects demonstrate that mechanical couplings are different in the 1500-1700 cm(-1) range for the nuC=O and nu8b (valence of the ring) modes in NHP and NDP (or (NHP, H2O) and (NDP, D2O)). For the first time, data are obtained for NDP in the dimer (NHP, NDP). Comparison of data for pyridone, monomer, dimer or complexed with water, shows that in the complexes, water is a weaker proton acceptor and a stronger proton donor than a second pyridone molecule in the centrosymmetric dimer. 相似文献

TheY2Σ+–X2Πinear-infrared electronic transition of CuO was observed at high resolution for the first time. The spectrum was recorded with the Fourier transform spectrometer associated with the McMath–Pierce Solar Telescope at Kitt Peak. Five-membered secondary amine heterocycles containing an α-heteroatom were prepared and shown to be ineffective as catalysts for the iminium ion catalysed Diels-Alder reaction between cinnamaldehyde and cyclopentadiene. Their six-membered counterparts proved to be highly active catalysts. In stark contrast, the catalytic activity observed when comparing the non α-heteroatom cyclic amines proline methyl ester and methyl pipecolinate showed the five-membered ring amine was significantly more active. Concurrent density functional theoretical calculations suggest a rationale for the observed trends in reactivity, highlighting that LUMO activation through an iminium ion intermediate plays a key role in catalytic activity. 相似文献

Many semi-arid areas worldwide are becoming degraded, in the form of C(4) grasslands being replaced by C(3) shrublands, which causes an increase in surface runoff and erosion, and altered nutrient cycling, which may affect global biogeochemical cycling. The prevention or control of vegetation transitions is hindered by a lack of understanding of their temporal and spatial dynamics, particularly in terms of interactions between biotic and abiotic processes. This research investigates (1) the effects of soil erosion on the delta(13)C values of soil organic matter (SOM) throughout the soil profile and its implications for reconstructing vegetation change using carbon-isotope analysis and (2) the spatial properties of erosion over a grass-shrub transition to increase understanding of biotic-abiotic interactions by using delta(13)C signals of eroded material as a sediment tracer. Results demonstrate that the soils over grass-shrub transitions are not in steady state. A complex interplay of factors determines the input of SOM to the surface horizon of the soil and its subsequent retention and turnover through the soil profile. A positive correlation between event runoff and delta(13)C signatures of eroded sediment was found in all plots. This indicates that the delta(13)C signatures of eroded sediment may provide a means of distinguishing between changes in erosion dynamics over runoff events of different magnitudes and over different vegetation types. The development of this technique using delta(13)C signatures of eroded sediment provides a new means of furthering existing understanding of erosion dynamics over vegetation transitions. This is critical in terms of understanding biotic-abiotic feedbacks and the evolution of areas subject to vegetation change in semi-arid environments. 相似文献
