Investigations of positron-annihilation rate in semimetals

The annihilation rates of thermalized positrons in the semimetals bismuth and antimony were measured. We found that the different rates were not based on the various conduction-electron densities. However, excellent agreement with experimental results was achieved by taking into consideration many-body effects in a random phase approximation.     

An Unexpected Diboroxane: Crystal Structure of Me2HN · (CF3)2BOB(CF3)2 · NHMe2

(CF₃)₂BNMe₂ ( 1 ) reacts at room temperature with water in a 2:1 ratio to form bis(dimethylamine)‐tetrakis(trifluoromethyl)diboroxane Me₂HN·(CF₃)₂BOB(CF₃)₂·NHMe₂ ( 2 ), whereas a 1:1 ratio at —78 °C had yielded HO(CF₃)₂B·NHMe₂ ( 3 ). The constitution of 2 has been deduced from multinuclear NMR, IR and mass spectra, and the structure has been determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Averaging 1.396(6) Å, the B—O bond length is short, and the B—O—B bond angle, 150.4(3)°, is very wide.     

Hydro­gen bonding in 1‐carbamoyl­guanidinium methyl­phospho­nate monohydrate

The title compound, C₂H₇N₄O⁺·CH₄O₃P⁻·H₂O, crystallized with one carbamoyl­guanidinium cation, one methyl­phos­phonate anion and one water mol­ecule in the asymmetric unit. All H atoms of the carbamoyl­guanidinium ion are involved in a hydrogen‐bonded network. The CH₃PO₂(OH) anions, together with the water mol­ecules, build O—H⋯O hydrogen‐bonded ribbons around a 2₁ screw axis parallel to the b axis. Neighbouring ribbons are not directly connected via hydrogen bonding. The carbamoyl­guanidinium cations are linked to these ribbons by N—H⋯O bridges and build a slightly buckled layer structure, the interlayer distance being b/2.

Zusammenfassung Die Gesamtreflexion von Licht eines ausgedehnten Spektralgebietes an Glas usw., das mit einer beliebigen Zahl nicht zu hoch brechender, nicht absorbierender, dünner Schichten bedeckt ist, wird angen?hert berechnet. Für wei?es Licht und das helladaptierte menschliche Auge wird die Berechnung numerisch zu Ende geführt. Das Ergebnis wird zur Berechnung minimal reflektierender Anordnungen von Mehrfachschichten auf Glas usw. benutzt.
