Summary Change of concentration of electrolyte such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, ammonium chloride and potassium bromide has a marked effect on the direction of migration of Cd. Precise measurements on the electrical conductivity of solutions of sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose in acetonitrile/water mixed-solvent media containing 10, 20, and 40 vol % of acetonitrile are reported as a function of temperature. The degree of substitution of carboxymethylcellulose used was 0.70, and the concentrations were varied from approximately 1 x 10(-4) to approximately 1 x 10(-2) equiv L(-1). The results showed a decrease in the equivalent conductivity with increasing polyelectrolyte concentration. The applicability of Manning's theory for salt-free polyelectrolyte solutions was examined, and a major discrepancy against the theory was observed. The calculated values of the equivalent conductivity deduced on the basis of this theory were found to be higher than the experimental ones. Possible reasons for this discrepancy have been discussed. The fractions of uncondensed counterions were evaluated, and these were found to depend on the polyelectrolyte concentration. The effects of the temperature and relative permittivity of the medium on the equivalent conductivity as well as on the fraction of uncondensed counterions were also investigated.  相似文献

The Saccharomyces strains uvarum, montuliensis, bayanus, capensis and florentinus were grown in liquid media prepared from a 1% aqueous glucose solution to which 0.05% of ammonium sulfate or urea were added as the only nitrogen supply. The amino acids exuded during incubation were isolated by cation exchange and derivatized as the corresponding N,O-heptafluorobutyryl isopropyl esters. Separation was achieved on a highly deactivated glass capillary column coated with OV-101. A characteristic amino acid profile was obtained for each of the species studied, allowing the construction of a chemotaxonomic tree, on the basis of present or absent acids.  相似文献

In this paper, a new application of the hyper-Rayleigh scattering technique in determining multiple binding constants of a small molecule like bilirubin to a macromolecule like the protein human serum albumin has been demonstrated. Human serum albumin has two binding sites for bilirubin, and the binding constants have been measured by carrying out a second harmonic titration of the protein against bilirubin and vice versa. The measured binding constants K(1) = 1.5 +/- 0.43 x 10(7) M(-1) and K(2) = 1.01 +/- 0.16 x 10(6) M(-1) agree well with the reported values obtained by other methods.  相似文献

Development of simple and reliable protocols for the synthesis of organically soluble catalytically active metal nanoparticles is an important aspect of research in nanomaterials. We demonstrate herein the formation of Pd nanoparticles by reduction of aqueous Pd(NO(3))(2) by photoexcited Keggin ions (phosphotungstate anions). This results in the formation of Pd nanoparticles capped with with Keggin ions that render the particles negatively charged. The Keggin ion capped Pd nanoparticles may then be phase transferred into nonpolar organic solvents such as toluene by electrostatic complexation with cationic surfactants such as octadecylamine at the liquid-liquid interface. This results in a new class of catalyst wherein both the Pd core and Keggin ion shell may be used in a range of catalytic reactions leading to a truly multifunctional catalyst dispersible in organic solvents.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive method for the determination of isoproturon, a widely used herbicide is described here which is based on alkaline hydrolysis of isoproturon to its corresponding primary amine followed by diazotization and coupling with p-aminoacetophenone in alkaline medium. The absorption maxima of the coloured compound formed is measured at 525 nm. Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.5-5.0 mug in a final solution volume of 25 ml (0.02-0.2 ppm). The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity were found to be 8.6x10(5) l mol(-1) cm(-1) and 0.0002 mug cm(-2), respectively. The method has been satisfactorily applied to the determination of isoproturon in environmental and biological samples.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies have been carried out on VO2+ ions doped in single crystals of ferroelectric material, potassium thiourea bromide (PTB) at room temperature and in the temperature range 103–343 K on X-band MW frequency. An isotropic octet spectrum characteristic of VO2+ ion was obtained due to the fast re-orientation of the VO2+ in PTB lattice, which exhibits glassy nature at certain range around room temperature. The temperature dependant EPR spectra of VO2+ ions in this host lattice has been attributed to the occurrence of multiple phase transitions due to the combined environment effects of KBr and thiourea materials in the single crystal. From the optical absorption spectrum, the crystal field splitting parameter Dq, tetragonal parameters Ds and Dt have been evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

A method for flow-through liquid scintillation counting in reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC) based on the continuous extraction of aqueous column eluates with a water-immiscible liquid scintillator is evaluated in terms of sensitivity, reproducibility and extra-column band broadening. 3H- and 14C-labelled phenylthiohydantoinamino acid derivatives of widely different polarity serve as model compounds. For extractable derivatives, counting efficiencies of over 30 and 80% can be obtained for 3H and 14C, respectively. The reproducibility and extra-column band broadening depend on the mixing ratio of scintillator and LC eluent; relative standard deviations (peak areas) of less than 3% can be obtained. The sensitivity of flow-through counting can be increased at least 150-fold by storing the segmented scintillator/eluate stream in a capillary storage loop. After the separation is complete, the stream is re-introduced into the radioactivity detector at reduced flow-rates to increase the mean residence time, i.e., the counting time, in the detector.  相似文献
