Indecomposable decomposition of tensor products of modules over Drinfeld doubles of Taft algebras

In this paper, we study the tensor product structure of the category of finite dimensional modules over Drinfeld doubles of Taft Hopf algebras. Tensor product decomposition rules for all finite dimensional indecomposable modules are explicitly given.     

Purification and characterization of a new Bacillus thuringiensis bacteriocin active against Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus cereus and Agrobacterium tumefaciens

This study reports on the identification, characterization and purification of a new bacteriocin, named Bacthuricin F103, from a Bacillus thuringiensis strain BUPM103. Bacthuricin F103 production began in the early exponential phase and reached a maximum in the middle of the same phase. Two chromatographic methods based on high performance liquid chromatography and fast protein liquid chromatography systems were used to purify Bacthuricin F103. Sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis revealed that this bacteriocin had a molecular weight of approximately 11 kDa. It also showed a wide range of thermostability of up to 80 °C for 60 min and a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity over a pH range of 3.0–10.0. This bacteriocin was noted, and for the first time, to exhibit potent antimicrobial activity against Agrobacterium subsp. strains, the major causal agents of crown gall disease in tomato and vineyard crops, and against several challenging organisms in food, such as Listeria monocytogenes and Bacillus cereus. Complete killing with immediate impact on cells was observed within a short period of time. The sequence obtained for Bacthuricin F103 by direct N-terminal sequencing shared considerable homology with hemolysin. Bacthuricin F103 was noted to act through the depletion of intracellular ions, which suggest that the cell membrane was a possible target to Bacthuricin F103.     

Ameliorative Effect of Citrus Lemon Peel Extract and Resveratrol on Premature Ovarian Failure Rat Model: Role of iNOS/Caspase-3 Pathway

Premature ovarian failure (POF) is described as a loss of oocytes and the absence of folliculogenesis and is considered an adverse effect of chemotherapeutic drugs, which leads to infertility. Subsequently, the existing inquiry was achieved by exploring the potential suspicious influences of lemon peel extract (LPE), and resveratrol (RES) on cyclophosphamide (CPA) induced-POF. The results showed that CPA-induced POF significantly decreased serum estradiol (E2) and progesterone levels, along with a considerable rise in serum luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels. Moreover, CPA administration to rats significantly increased the serum level of Malondialdehyde (MDA) and significantly lowered the levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD); in addition, it increased nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) levels, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), as well as cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) with the spread expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) mRNA levels and caspase-3 (Casp3) levels in ovarian tissues versus the control rats. However, treatment with LPE and RES suppressed the triggering of NF- κB pathways, evidenced by a considerable reduction in Casp3 & iNOS mRNA expression level and significant ameliorative effects in all evaluated parameters, as confirmed by the histological and immunohistochemical investigation when comparing the model group. In overall findings, both lemon peel extract and resveratrol can mitigate the adverse effects of CPA-induced POF. Most crucially, its combination therapy is a promising pharmacological agent for this disease.

Selected Reactions of Diethyl (E)‐1‐(bromomethyl)‐2‐cyanovinylphosphonate with Secondary and Tertiary Amines

An easy regio‐ and stereoselective synthesis of new nitrogenous molecules 2a–e was successfully realized via an effective coupling reaction of diethyl (E)‐1‐(bromomethyl)‐2‐cyanovinylphosphonate 1 with various secondary amines in methanol. Hence, the use of less and more bulky secondary amines gives rise, respectively, to the successive (S_N2′) substitution–isomerization and (S_N2) substitution derivatives 2a–c and 2d–e . Moreover, the addition of tertiary amines to 1 in the same reaction conditions, leads exclusively to the rearranged vinyl ether 3 in good yields.     

Weinstein–Sobolev Spaces of Exponential Type and Applications

In this paper, we introduce and study the Sobolev spaces of exponential type associated with the Weinstein operator, via some elements of harmonic analysis related to this operator. In particular, some properties, including completeness and imbedding theorem, are proved. Finally, using the theory of reproducing kernels, some applications are given for these spaces.     

Electroconvection between coaxial cylinders of arbitrary ratio subjected to strong unipolar injection

This study deals with the electroconvection phenomenon that takes place in a dielectric liquid layer placed between two annular electrodes and subjected to the action of an electric field.The full set of governing equations describing the combined Electro-Hydro-Dynamic (EHD) flow is directly solved with the finite volume method.The development of electroconvective motion is investigated in details in the case of strong injection when the emitter electrode is the inner cylinder.We first examine the stability of such flow. As in the plane–plane configuration we have highlighted the existence of a linear and non-linear critical electric Rayleigh numbers giving rise to a hysteresis loop. The flow structure under the effect of the electric field is analyzed and the distribution of electric charge density is presented. In particular we investigate the effect of various parameters involved in this configuration, such as the radius ratio, injection strength and electric Rayleigh number.A multicellular convective pattern is particularly observed and it is shown that the number of cells is increased when the annular gap is narrower. Finally a significant increase of the rotational speed of the vortex with the electric Rayleigh number is recorded.     

Raman study of cation effect on sulfate vibration modes in solid state and in aqueous solutions

Raman spectra of potassium, sodium, and ammonium sulfates (K₂SO₄, Na₂SO₄, and (NH₄)₂SO₄) are reported and analyzed. These sulfates have been investigated under two states: solid (anhydrous and hydrated) salts and aqueous solutions. The effects of monovalent ions (K⁺, Na⁺, and NH₄⁺) and hydration on the position of Raman lines assigned to internal vibrations of sulfate anion SO₄²⁻ are discussed. In solid salts, the line position of each Raman peak is shown to decrease with increasing radius of the cation. The main ν₁ mode of sulfate molecule is particularly affected. It is emphasized that this sensitivity in solid sulfates vanishes in aqueous solutions. As a consequence, this mode can be probed by Raman spectroscopy as the main signature of SO₄²⁻ to determine its concentration within a single calibration. (Vapor + liquid) equilibrium data for (carbon dioxide + 1,1-difluoroethane) system at temperatures from (258 to 343) K and pressures up to about 8 MPa

Accurate thermo-physical data are of utmost interest for the development of new efficient refrigeration systems. Carbon dioxide (R744) and 1,1-difluoroethane (R152a) are addressed here. Isothermal (vapor + liquid) equilibrium data are reported herein for (R744 + R152a) binary system in the (258–343) K temperature range and in the (0.14 to 7.65) MPa pressure range. A reliable “static-analytic” method taking advantage of two online ROLSI? micro capillary samplers is used for all thermodynamic measurements. The data are correlated using our in-house ThermoSoft thermodynamic model using the Peng–Robinson equation of state, the Mathias–Copeman alpha function, the Wong–Sandler mixing rules, and the NRTL model.
