The opthalmic suspension whose active compounds are antibiotic and corticosteriods, was submitted, in the final package, to radiation in a Cobalt-60 source and their stability to gamma radiation has been investigated. This procedure aims to substitute the conventional aseptic method of manufacturing and packaging for radiation sterilization. Microbiological studies have been carried out to determine the minimum absorbed dose achieving the required Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10-6. The presence of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxins has not been recorded in the Portuguese coast since 1995. A bloom of Gymnodinium catenatum occurred in the NW coast of Portugal in the autumn of 2005, and PSP profiles were determined in several inshore and offshore shellfish species by HPLC after pre-column oxidation. Most of the species studied contained a complex toxin profile, typically representative of contamination by G. catenatum. However, clams such as Spisula solida contained mainly decarbamoyl toxins, while less extensive transformation was found in Scrobicularia plana. In vitro incubation of S. solida digestive glands with PSP standards revealed a rapid transformation of carbamate and N-sulfocarbamoyl toxins into their corresponding decarbamate analogues. After 24 h, less than 5% of the carbamate or N-sulfocarbamoyl toxins tested remained. After a 24 h in vitro incubation of S. plana digestive glands, no decarbamate analogues were detected. Artificial toxification of S. plana with cultures of G. catenatum revealed the conversion into decarbamoyl analogues progressed slowly: initially dcGTX2+3 and dcSTX accounted only for 5% of total non N-1 hydroxilated toxins, after 6 days these toxins accounted for 41% of the toxin composition. In vitro incubations of digestive glands from other commercial bivalves did not reveal production of decarbamoyl analogues over a 24 h period. 相似文献

The amount of counterions, measured by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), in layer-by-layer (LbL) films of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS), prepared from solutions with various NaCl concentrations, is shown to be greatly influenced by the film drying process: a smaller amount of counterions is observed in films dried after adsorption of each layer, when compared with films that were never dried during the film preparation. This is attributed to the formation of NaCl nanocrystals during the drying process which dissolve when the film is again immersed in the next polyelectrolyte solution. The presence of bonded water molecules was confirmed in wet films indicating that the counterions near the ionic groups are immersed in a water network. The number of counterions is dependent on the amount of salt in polyelectrolyte solutions in such a way that for a concentration of 0.2 M the relative amount of counterions attains saturation for both dried and wet samples, indicating that the process which leads the aggregation of counterions near of the ionic groups is not influenced by the drying process. Moreover, it is proven for wet samples that the increase in salt concentration leads to a decrease in the number of PAH ionized groups as predicted by the Muthukumar theory [J. Chem. The COVID-19 pandemic is still a continuing worldwide challenge for public health systems. Early and ultrasensitive identification of the infection is essential for preventing the spread of COVID-19 by pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic individuals, particularly in the community and in-home settings. This work presents a versatile photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor for SARS-CoV-2 detection based on a composite material formed by bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) and strontium titanate (SrTiO3). The PEC platform was denoted as BiVO4/SrTiO3/FTO, and it can be tuned for the detection of either Spike (S) or Nucleocapsid (N) protein by simply altering the antibody immobilized on the platform's surface. Chemical, morphological, and electrochemical characterizations were performed by X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron microscopy, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, and Amperometry. With a simple sensing architecture of the PEC platform, it was possible to achieve a linear response range of 0.1 pg mL−1 to 1000 ng mL−1 for S protein and 0.01 pg mL−1 to 1000 ng mL−1 for N protein. The PEC immunosensors presented recovery values for the two SARS-CoV-2 proteins in artificial saliva samples between 97 % and 107.20 % suggesting a good accuracy for the proposed immunosensors. 相似文献

Ultrathin films of cellulose were functionalized with iron protoporphyrin IX (FePP). Spin-coating allows the production of silylated cellulose films in a controlled way. Cellulose regeneration is achieved through the hydrolyzation of the silane groups, exposing the film to acidic vapors. To enhance the reactivity of the cellulose surface to the protoporphyrin, carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) was used as an activator. The effect of different spacers on the porphyrin grafting such as 1,8-diaminooctane and 1,4-phenylenediamine was studied. The highest level of cellulose functionalization with FePP was achieved when both the cellulose film and FePP were activated by CDI and a diaminoalkane was used as a spacer between the surface and the FePP. ATR/MIR (attenuated total reflection in multiple internal reflections) was performed in situ to follow the kinetics of the different chemical reactions with the cellulose surface. ATR/MIR proved again to be a powerful tool for probing the surface reaction. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy permitted the elemental analysis of the cellulose surface after the chemical modification. 相似文献
