X-ray diffraction analysis and luminescence spectral study of crystal solvates of N-(N"-tosylanthranoyl)anthranilic acid with acetic acid and dimethylformamide

Two crystal modifications of N-(N"-tosylanthranoyl)anthranilic acid were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis and luminescence spectroscopy. One crystal modification is a crystal solvate with acetic acid and is characterized by green fluorescence. Another modification is a crystal solvate with DMF and exhibits blue fluorescence. The modifications differ in the melting point.     

Theory of a reinforced layered medium with random initial irregularities

The author examines an elastic medium reinforced with slightly distorted elastic layers. The basic equations are obtained by the method proposed in [1,2]. It is assumed that the functions describing the initial distortions of the reinforcing layers form a random field. With the help of the method of canonical expansions [3], expressions are derived for the statistical characteristics of the stresses, strains and displacements in the reinforced medium. The theory is used to account for the known experimental fact of the reduction in the moduli of elasticity of layered glass-reinforced plastics as compared with the values calculated for an ideal reinforced medium. Synthesis of 5-hydroxy-4-nitrosobenzotriazoles and 6-hydroxy-7-nitrosoindazoles and their splitting into β-triazolyl- and β-pyrazolylacrylic acids

5-Hydroxy-4-nitrosobenzotriazoles and 6-hydroxy-7-nitrosoindazoles were synthesized. By the action of benzenesulfonyl chloride in an alkaline medium, only 5-hydroxy-4-nitroso-2-phenyl-benzotriazole and 1-methyl-6-hydroxy-7-nitrosoindazole split into 5-carboxyvinyl-2-phenyl-4-cyano-1,2,3-triazole- and -(1-methyl-5-cyano-4-pyrazolyl)acrylic acid, respectively, while the fragmentation under electron impact proceeds by another scheme.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 491–498, April, 1988.     

Hydrolysis of 2-aryl-4h-3, 1-benzoxazin-4-ones

2-Aryl-4H-3, 1-benzoxazin-4-ones were subjected to alkaline hydrolysis in O¹⁸-enriched water. It was established on the basis of data from mass-spectrometric analysis of the hydrolysis products that the C-2 and C-4 atoms of the benzooxazinone ring undergo nucleophilic attack. Statistical theory of defect buildup in composite materials and the scale-factor effect in reliability

A statistical theory of fracture based on the concept of defect buildup is applied to composite materials with a definite fiber orientation. On the premise that the concentration of defects that precede a fracture is sufficiently low, asymptotic distributions of defectiveness are established and asymptotic expressions for the reliability function are derived. It appears feasible to use this theory for predicting the reliability and the scale-factor effect for structures made of oriented composite materials.Moscow Power Institute.
