The aim of this work is to produce and study a high energy density laboratory plasma relevant to astrophysical accretion disks. To this end, an experimental setup based on a modified cylindrical wire array was devised, which employs a cusp magnetic field to introduce angular momentum into the system. The setup was studied numerically with the three-dimensional, resistive magneto-hydrodynamic code GORGON. Simulations show that a differentially-rotating flow is formed, with typical rotation velocity and Mach number values of 60 km/s and Mφ ~ 5 respectively. The plasma is radiatively cooled and presents a Reynolds number higher than 107. In addition, the magnetic Reynolds number and the plasma β are >1. Such a plasma is of interest for the study of hydrodynamic and magneto-hydrodynamic instabilities, and turbulence generation in differentially-rotating plasma flows.  相似文献

The development of new organic semiconductors with improved electrical performance and enhanced environmental stability is the focus of considerable research activity. This communication presents the design, synthesis, and device stability data for novel bis-5'-alkylthiophen-2'yl-2,6-anthracene organic semiconductors. When incorporated into thin-film field-effect transistors, mobilities as high as 0.5 cm2/Vs and on/off current ratios greater than 107 are observed. We have investigated device stability in terms of both shelf life and operating lifetime. Devices incorporating the reported semiconductors display an average field-effect mobility of 0.4 cm2/Vs for DHTAnt and an on/off current ratio of 106 even after 15 months of storage. Furthermore, there is no decrease in performance during continuous operation of the devices over several thousand cycles.  相似文献

Computation was used to design a trans-cyclooctene derivative that displays enhanced reactivity in the tetrazine-trans-cycloctene ligation. The optimized derivative is an (E)-bicyclo[6.1.0]non-4-ene with a cis-ring fusion, in which the eight-membered ring is forced to adopt a highly strained 'half-chair' conformation. Toward 3,6-dipyridyl-s-tetrazine in MeOH at 25 °C, the strained derivative is 19 and 27 times more reactive than the parent trans-cyclooctene and 4E-cyclooct-4-enol, respectively. Toward 3,6-diphenyl-s-tetrazine in MeOH at 25 °C, the strained derivative is 160 times more reactive than the parent trans-cyclooctene.  相似文献

A new method of synthesising nanoparticle-functionalised nanostructured materials via Aerosol Assisted Chemical Vapour Deposition (AACVD) has been developed. Co-deposition of Au nanoparticles with WO(3) nanoneedles has been used to deposit a sensing layer directly onto gas sensor substrates providing devices with a six-fold increase in response to low concentrations of a test analyte (ethanol).  相似文献

Rapid, site-specific labeling of proteins with diverse probes remains an outstanding challenge for chemical biologists. Enzyme-mediated labeling approaches may be rapid but use protein or peptide fusions that introduce perturbations into the protein under study and may limit the sites that can be labeled, while many "bioorthogonal" reactions for which a component can be genetically encoded are too slow to effect quantitative site-specific labeling of proteins on a time scale that is useful for studying many biological processes. We report a fluorogenic reaction between bicyclo[6.1.0]non-4-yn-9-ylmethanol (BCN) and tetrazines that is 3-7 orders of magnitude faster than many bioorthogonal reactions. Unlike the reactions of strained alkenes, including trans-cyclooctenes and norbornenes, with tetrazines, the BCN-tetrazine reaction gives a single product of defined stereochemistry. We have discovered aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase/tRNA pairs for the efficient site-specific incorporation of a BCN-containing amino acid, 1, and a trans-cyclooctene-containing amino acid 2 (which also reacts extremely rapidly with tetrazines) into proteins expressed in Escherichia coli and mammalian cells. We demonstrate the rapid fluorogenic labeling of proteins containing 1 and 2 in vitro, in E. coli , and in live mammalian cells. These approaches may be extended to site-specific protein labeling in animals, and we anticipate that they will have a broad impact on labeling and imaging studies.  相似文献

The development of new organic semiconductors with improved electrical performance and enhanced environmental stability is the focus of considerable research activity. This paper presents the design, synthesis, optical and electrochemical characterization, crystal packing, modeling and thin film morphology, and organic thin film field effect transistor (OTFT) device data analysis for a novel 2,6-bis[2-(4-pentylphenyl)vinyl]anthracene (DPPVAnt) organic semiconductor. We observed a hole mobility of up to 1.28 cm2/V.s and on/off current ratios greater than 107 for OTFTs fabricated using DPPVAnt as an active semiconductor layer. The mobility value is comparable to that of the current best p-type semiconductor pentacene-based device performance. In addition, we found a very interesting relationship between the charge mobility and molecule crystal packing in addition to the thin film orientation and morphology of the semiconductor as determined from single-crystal molecule packing study, thin film X-ray diffraction, and AFM measurements. The high performance of the semiconductor ranks among the best performing p-type organic semiconductors reported so far and will be a very good candidate for applications in organic electronic devices.  相似文献
