In this work, we describe the direct covalent attachment of protein recognition elements (biotin) with the carboxyl groups present on the walls of polyimide nanochannels. Subsequently, these biotinylated channels were used for the bio‐specific sensing of protein analytes. Moreover, surface charge of these asymmetric nanochannels was reversed from negative to positive via the conversion of carboxyl groups into terminated amino groups. The negatively charge (carboxylated) and positively charged (aminated) channels were further used for the electrochemical sensing of bovine serum albumin (BSA, pI = 4.7). These biorecognition events were assessed from the changes in the ionic current flowing through the nanochannel.

This work is part of the inter-laboratory collaboration to study the stability of seven distinct sets of state-of-the-art organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices prepared by leading research laboratories. All devices have been shipped to and degraded at RIS?-DTU up to 1830 hours in accordance with established ISOS-3 protocols under defined illumination conditions. In this work, we apply the Incident Photon-to-Electron Conversion Efficiency (IPCE) and the in situ IPCE techniques to determine the relation between solar cell performance and solar cell stability. Different ageing conditions were considered: accelerated full sun simulation, low level indoor fluorescent lighting and dark storage. The devices were also monitored under conditions of ambient and inert (N(2)) atmospheres, which allows for the identification of the solar cell materials more susceptible to degradation by ambient air (oxygen and moisture). The different OPVs configurations permitted the study of the intrinsic stability of the devices depending on: two different ITO-replacement alternatives, two different hole extraction layers (PEDOT:PSS and MoO(3)), and two different P3HT-based polymers. The response of un-encapsulated devices to ambient atmosphere offered insight into the importance of moisture in solar cell performance. Our results demonstrate that the IPCE and the in situ IPCE techniques are valuable analytical methods to understand device degradation and solar cell lifetime.  相似文献

This paper examines vowel production in Swedish adolescents with cochlear implants. Twelve adolescents with cochlear implants and 11 adolescents with normal hearing participated. Measurements were made of the first and second formants in all the nine long Swedish vowels. The values in hertz were bark-transformed, and two measures of the size of the vowel space were obtained. The first of them was the average Euclidean distance in the F1-F2 plane between the nine vowels and the mean F1 and F2 values of all the vowels. The second was the mean Euclidean distance in the F1-F2 plane between all the vowels. The results showed a significant difference for both vowel space measures between the two groups of adolescents. The cochlear implant users had a smaller space than the adolescents with normal hearing. In general, the size of the vowel space showed no correlations with measures of receptive and productive linguistic abilities. However, the results of an identification test showed that the listeners made more confusions of the vowels produced by speakers who had a small mean distance in the F1-F2 plane between all the vowels.  相似文献

Analyses of exhaled air by means of electronic noses offer a large diagnostic potential. Such analyses are non-invasive; samples can also be easily obtained from severely ill patients and repeated within short intervals. Lung cancer is the most deadly malignant tumor worldwide, and monitoring of lung cancer progression is of great importance and may help to decide best therapy. In this report, twenty-two patients with diagnosed lung cancer and ten healthy volunteers were studied using breath samples collected several times at certain intervals and analysed by an electronic nose. The samples were divided into three sub-groups; group d for survivor less than one year, group s for survivor more than a year and group h for the healthy volunteers. Prediction models based on partial least square and artificial neural nets could not classify the collected groups d, s and h, but separated well group d from group h. Using artificial neural net, group d could be separated from group s. Excellent predictions and stable models of survival day for group d were obtained, both based on partial least square and artificial neural nets, with correlation coefficients 0.981 and 0.985, respectively. Finally, the importance of consecutive measurements was shown.  相似文献

We present a mean field analysis of the effects of molecular rotation on the excitation spectrum and stability of ultracold dipolar gases. For an unpolarized homogeneous gas interacting with a pure dipole-dipole interaction, we find that for the rotational state L = 1 the dipole-dipole interaction causes a splitting of the translation-rotation energy levels into a single M = 0 and a doubly degenerate M = ±1 excitation. For all other rotational states, the dipole-dipole interaction does not lead to coupling of translations and rotations and therefore has no effect on the rotational degeneracy of the excitations. The addition of arbitrarily small electric fields is found to introduce instabilities similar to those known to arise in the fully polarized dipolar gas. As in the case of a fully polarized gas, addition of a large enough short range repulsive potential is seen to stabilize the system, with the critical value of the repulsive interaction required for stabilization being larger when rotations are included.  相似文献

To what extent can social structure result from evolutionary processes as popposed to being deliberately organised? To begin to answer this questions five different but releated social simulations are reviewed, and a map of which mechanisms might results in what structures under what conditions being started. These show that different structures can be brought about by evolutionary processes based on the abilities and propensities of the individuals. The article ends with some challenges—to construct a credible simulations of more sophisticated structures: social group selection and self-organised value chains.  相似文献

Functional magnetic resonance imaging mapping of the finger somatotopy in the primary somatosensory cortex requires a reproducible and precise stimulation. The highly detailed functional architecture in this region of the brain also requires careful consideration in choice of spatial resolution and postprocessing parameters. The purpose of this study is therefore to investigate the impact of spatial resolution and level of smoothing during tactile stimulation using a precise stimuli system. Twenty-one volunteers were scanned using 23 mm3 and 33 mm3 voxel volume and subsequently evaluated using three different smoothing kernel widths. The overall activation reproducibility was also evaluated. Using a high spatial resolution proved advantageous for all fingers. At 23 mm3 voxel volume, activation of the thumb, middle finger and little finger areas was seen in 89%, 67% and 50% of the volunteers, compared to 78%, 61% and 33% at 33 mm3, respectively. The sensitivity was comparable for nonsmoothed and slightly smoothed (4 mm kernel width) data; however, increasing the smoothing kernel width from 4 to 8 mm resulted in a critical decrease (50%) in sensitivity. In repeated measurements of the same subject at six different days, the localization reproducibility of all fingers was within 4 mm (1 S.D. of the mean). The precise computer-controlled stimulus, together with data acquisition at high spatial resolution and with only minor smoothing during evaluation, could be a very useful strategy in studies of brain plasticity and rehabilitation strategies in hand and finger disorders and injuries.  相似文献
