We have optimized an imaging methodology capable of monitoring individual live HeLa cells using non-synchrotron FTIR in an aqueous environment. This methodology, in combination with MATLAB based pre-processing techniques, allows fast and efficient collection of data with high signal-to-noise ratio in comparison with previous methods using point mode data collection, which required manual operation and more collection time. Also, presented are early results that illustrate interpretable spectral differences from live cells treated with chemotherapeutic drugs, demonstrating the potential of this methodology to develop more desirable modes of treatment for patients in their diagnoses and treatments for disease. 相似文献

Evaluation of the VITEK 2 Gram-negative (GN) microbial identification test card: collaborative study

A collaborative study was conducted to evaluate the performance of the VITEK 2 Gram-negative (GN) Identification card for use with the VITEK 2 automated microbial identification system. The GN test card is used in the identification of fermenting and nonfermenting Gram-negative bacilli, including the select agent organisms Brucella melitensis, Francisella tularensis, Burkholderia mallei, B. pseudomallei, and Yersinia pestis. The VITEK 2 GN card is based on 47 biochemical tests measuring carbon source utilization, inhibition and resistance, and enzymatic activities. A total of 20 laboratories representing government, industry, and private testing facilities throughout the United States participated. In this study, 720 Gram-negative inclusivity isolates were analyzed by the GN Identification method. Of the 720 well-characterized isolates, 707 were identified correctly, 0 were misidentified, 0 were unidentified, and 13 were not characterized as a Gram-negative organism. Additionally, 120 isolates exclusive of fermenting and nonfermenting Gram-negative bacilli were screened by Gram stain. A total of 117 isolates were correctly excluded. Three organisms were incorrectly characterized by Gram stain procedures, resulting in incorrect analysis and misidentification by VITEK 2 GN. The VITEK 2 GN identification method is an acceptable automated method for the rapid identification of Gram-negative bacteria. 相似文献

The effect of molecular chirality on electron transmission is explored by photoelectrochemistry. Thiol-terminated chiral scaffold molecules containing a porphyrin chromophore were self-assembled on gold surfaces to form a monolayer. Incorporation of the SAM-coated gold into an electrochemical cell and illumination with visible light generated a cathodic photocurrent. When using circularly polarized light, the photocurrent displayed an asymmetry (different magnitude of photocurrent for right versus left polarization) that changed with the molecular chirality (left- or right-handedness of the scaffold). A symmetry constraint on the electronic coupling between the porphyrin and the organic scaffold is proposed as a possible mechanism for the photocurrent asymmetry. 相似文献

Open quantum dots provide a natural system in which to study both classical and quantum features of transport. From the classical point of view these dots possess a mixed phase space which yields families of closed, regular orbits as well as an expansive sea of chaos. An important question concerns the manner in which these classical states evolve into the set of quantum states that populate the dot in the quantum limit. In the reverse direction, the manner in which the quantum states evolve to the classical world is governed strongly by Zurek's decoherence theory. This was discussed from the quantum perspective in an earlier review?(Ferry et?al 2011 Semicond. Sci. Technol. 26 043001). Here, we discuss the nature of the various classical states, how they are formed, how they progress to the quantum world, and the signatures that they create in magnetotransport and general conductance studies of these dots. 相似文献

A search for time-integrated CP violation in D(0)→h(-)h(+) (h=K, π) decays is presented using 0.62 fb(-1) of data collected by LHCb in 2011. The flavor of the charm meson is determined by the charge of the slow pion in the D(*+)→D(0)π(+) and D(*-)→D[over ˉ](0)π(-) decay chains. The difference in CP asymmetry between D(0)→K(-)K(+) and D(0)→π(-)π(+), ΔA(CP)≡A(CP)(K(-)K(+))-A(CP)(π(-)π(+)), is measured to be [-0.82±0.21(stat)±0.11(syst)]%. This differs from the hypothesis of CP conservation by 3.5 standard deviations. 相似文献
