Garcinia gummi-gutta (syn. G. cambogia, G. quaesita), known to have medicinal properties, was evaluated as a substrate and inducer for tannase production by a marine Aspergillus awamori BTMFW032, under slurry state fermentation using Czapekdox-minimal medium and sea water as the cultivation medium. Among the various natural tannin substrates evaluated, Garcinia leaf supported maximal tannase production. The cultivation conditions and components of the cultivation medium were optimized employing response surface methodology. The experimental results were fitted to a second-order polynomial model at a 92.2% level of significance (p < 0.0001). The maximal tannase activity was obtained in a slurry state medium containing 26.6%, w/v, Garcinia leaf, supplemented with 0.1% tannic acid as inducer. The optimum values of pH, temperature and inoculum concentration obtained were 5.0, 40 degrees C and 3%, respectively. A Box-Behnken model study of the fermentation conditions was carried out, and the best production of tannase was registered at 40 degrees C without agitation. Optimization strategy employing response surface methodology led to nearly 3-fold increase in the enzyme production from 26.2 U/mL obtained in unoptimized medium to 75.2 Units/mL in Box Behnken design, within 18 h of fermentation. It was observed that sea water could support maximal tannase production by A. awamori compared with other media suggesting that the sea water salts could have played an inducer role in expression of tannase encoding genes. The as-deposited and annealed Ge-Au film and Ge-Au/Au bilayer films have been observed by transmission electron microscopy. The bilayer with a composition of Ge-5at%Au film is amorphous, while the Ge-22at%Au film is polycrystalline. Higher concentration of Au raises the structural heterogeneity and instability. Fractals can be observed in the Ge-5at%Au/Au bilayer samples annealed at 60-100℃. The difference of the fractal patterns generated from Ge-Au/An and a-Ge/Au films call be attributed to the higher heterogeneity and instability in Ge-Au/An bilayers. 相似文献

The growth of epitaxial InBixAsySb(1−x−y) layers on highly lattice mis-matched semi-insulating GaAs substrates has been successfully achieved via the traditional liquid phase epitaxy. Orientation and single crystalline nature of the film have been confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Scanning electron micrograph shows abrupt interface at micrometer resolution. Surface composition of Bi(x) and As(y) in the InBixAsySb(1−x−y) film was measured using energy dispersive X-ray analysis and found to be 2.5 and 10.5 at.%, respectively, and was further confirmed with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Variation of the composition with depth of the film was studied by removing the layers with low current (20 μA) Ar+ etching. It was observed that with successive Ar+ etching, In/Sb ratio remained the same, while the As/Sb and Bi/Sb ratios changed slightly with etching time. However after about 5 min etching the As/Sb and Bi/Sb ratios reached constant values. The room temperature band gap of InBi0.025As0.105Sb0.870 was found to be in the range of 0.113–0.120 eV. The measured values of mobility and carrier density at room temperature are 3.1×104 cm2 V−1 s−1 and 8.07×1016 cm−3, respectively. 相似文献

Orthogonal polymer brush gradients are assemblies of surface-anchored macromolecules, in which two material properties of the grafted chains (e.g., grafting density, molecular weight) vary independently in orthogonal directions. Here, we describe the formation and applications of two such orthogonal assemblies, involving: (1) molecular weight and grafting density (MW/σ) gradients of a given polymer and (2) molecular weight gradients (MW1/MW2), of two different polymers. Each point on orthogonal gradient substrate represents a unique combination of the two surface properties being varied, thus facilitating systematic investigation of a phenomenon that depends on the two said properties. W. Arveson showed a way of associating continuous tensor product systems of Hilbert spaces with endomorphism semigroups of type I factors.
