Removal of nitrates from drinking water by catalytic hydrogenation over ZSM-5 supported Pt-Cu catalysts was studied. Bimetallics Pt-Cu were prepared by ion exchange of copper on a parent monometallic platinum catalyst. Monometallic platinum catalysts are inactive for nitrate reduction, while Pt-Cu bimetallic catalysts are active for nitrate removal. In the bimetallic catalyst, the role of copper is probably to reduce nitrate according to a redox reaction. The addition of copper to Pt catalysts decreases the production of ammonium ions  相似文献

The nucleation mechanism to predict coercivity values in melt-spun exchange-coupled (Nd1−xPrx)yFe94−yB6 alloys for various Nd:Pr ratios x, and Fe:RE ratios y, was tested using the dependence of the anisotropy constant K1 on Pr content x for the minimum nucleation field HNmin in the modified Brown's equation. Very good agreement was found between experimental data and theoretical values, confirming the predominance of the nucleation of reverse domains over the wall pinning process in the coercivity mechanism of melt spun REFeB alloys.  相似文献

Herein we describe the construction of hexadecameric self-assembled dendrimers (SADs) using a series of dendronized 8-(m-acetylphenyl)-2'-deoxyguanosine (mAG) subunits. The azido-substituted mAG subunits were covalently linked to alkynyl polyester dendrons using a copper-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. Discrete SADs are formed with high fidelity and thermal stability even with the increased steric hindrance offered by the dendrons.  相似文献

A knowledge-based potential for the polypeptide backbone as a function of the dihedral angles is developed and tested. The potential includes correlations due to the conformations and compositions of adjacent residues. Its purpose is to serve as a major component of a coarse-grained protein potential by including the most relevant local interactions while averaging out nonbonded ones. A probability density estimation algorithm and a multi-resolution probability combination procedure are developed to produce smooth probability distributions and dihedral angle potentials. The potential is described by a set of two-dimensional dihedral angle surfaces involving the various combinations of amino acid triplets and duplets. Several tests are carried out to evaluate the quality of the potential. Monte Carlo simulations, using only the dihedral angle potential and a coarse-grained excluded volume potential, show that the resulting dihedral angle distributions and correlations are consistent with those extracted from protein structures. Additional simulations of unfolded proteins are carried out to measure the NMR residual dipolar coupling (RDC). Significant correlations are obtained between the simulations and the corresponding experiments consistent with other simulations in the literature. Finally, the dihedral angle entropies are calculated for the 20 amino acids. In particular, the entropy difference between alanine and glycine agrees with the ones computed from molecular dynamics simulations ( approximately 0.4 kcal/mol).  相似文献

Current ab initio structure‐prediction methods are sometimes able to generate families of folds, one of which is native, but are unable to single out the native one due to imperfections in the folding potentials and an inability to conduct thorough explorations of the conformational space. To address this issue, here we describe a method for the detection of statistically significant folds from a pool of predicted structures. Our approach consists of clustering and averaging the structures into representative fold families. Using a metric derived from the root‐mean‐square distance (RMSD) that is less sensitive to protein size, we determine whether the simulated structures are clustered in relation to a group of random structures. The clustering method searches for cluster centers and iteratively calculates the clusters and their respective centroids. The centroid interresidue distances are adjusted by minimizing a potential constructed from the corresponding average distances of the cluster structures. Application of this method to selected proteins shows that it can detect the best fold family that is closest to native, along with several other misfolded families. We also describe a method to obtain substructures. This is useful when the folding simulation fails to give a total topology prediction but produces common subelements among the structures. What is new in the field of neutrino detection? In addition to new projects probing both the low and high ends of the neutrino energy scale, an inexpensive, effective technique is being developed to allow tagging of antineutrinos in water Cherenkov (WC) detectors via the addition to water of a solute with a large neutron cross-section and energetic γ daughters. Gadolinium is an excellent candidate since in recent years it has become very inexpensive, now less than $8 per kilogram in the form of commercially available gadolinium trichloride. This non-toxic, non-reactive substance is highly soluble in water. Neutron capture on gadolinium yields an 8.0 MeV gamma cascade easily seen in detectors like Super-Kamiokande. The uses of GdCl3 as a possible upgrade for the Super-Kamiokande detector — with a view toward improving its performance as an antineutrino detector for supernova neutrinos and reactor neutrinos — are discussed, as are the ongoing R&;D efforts which aim to make this dream a reality within the next two years.  相似文献

We report here a procedure for the independent analysis of two groups of peptides by liquid chromatography-matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LC-MALDI MS/MS), using a selective isolation-detection procedure. In this procedure all primary amino groups of tryptic peptides derived from mouse liver proteins are blocked, restricting their positive charge, at acidic pH, to the presence of histidine and arginine residues. After strong cation exchange chromatography, multiply charged peptides (R + H > 1) are retained on the column and separated with high selectivity from singly (R + H = 1) and neutral peptides (R + H = 0) which are together collected in the flow-through. Using LC-MALDI-MS/MS analysis, the retained fraction displayed a 94% of enrichment of multiply charged peptides while in the flow-through; peptides with at least one arginine or histidine residue were exclusively identified, which suggests that MS detection in this fraction is restricted only to those peptides with ionizable side chains, arginine and histidine amino acids.  相似文献
