We present a theoretical many-body analysis of the electron–electron (e–e) inelastic damping rate Γ of electron-like excitations
in the Shockley surface state band of Ag(111). It takes into account ab initio band structures for both bulk and surface states.
Γ is found to increase more rapidly as a function of surface state energy E than previously reported, thus leading to an improved
agreement with experimental data.

A gain-modulated silicon avalanche photodiode synchronized with a mode-locked argon-ion laser is used as the main component of a direct reading high-sensitivity flourescence lifetime detector with 10 ps time resolution and 2 photoelectrons per laser period sensitivity. Fluorescence lifetimes τf = 10 psto 10 ns of single exponential processes are indicated directly. A set of dipolar molecular rotor compounds was designed, synthesized and adsorbed as self-assembled 2D arrays on Ag(111) surfaces. The title molecules are constructed from three building blocks: (a) 4,8,12-trioxatriangulene (TOTA) platforms that are known to physisorb on metal surfaces such as Au(111) and Ag(111), (b) phenyl groups attached to the central carbon atom that function as pivot joints to reduce the barrier to rotation, (c) pyridine and pyridazine units as small dipolar units on top. Theoretical calculations and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) investigations hint at the fact that the dipoles of neighboring rotors interact through space through pairs of energetically favorable head-to-tail arrangements. 相似文献

The kinetics of the gas‐phase reactions of O3 with a series of selected terpenes has been investigated under flow‐tube conditions at a pressure of 100 mbar synthetic air at 295 ± 0.5 K. In the presence of a large excess of m‐xylene as an OH radical scavenger, rate coefficients k(O3+terpene) were obtained with a relative rate technique, (unit: cm3 molecule?1 s?1, errors represent 2σ): α‐pinene: (1.1 ± 0.2) × 10?16, 3Δ‐carene: (5.9 ± 1.0) × 10?17, limonene: (2.5 ± 0.3) × 10?16, myrcene: (4.8 ± 0.6) × 10?16, trans‐ocimene: (5.5 ± 0.8) × 10?16, terpinolene: (1.6 ± 0.4) × 10?15 and α‐terpinene: (1.5 ± 0.4) × 10?14. Absolute rate coefficients for the reaction of O3 with the used reference substances (2‐methyl‐2‐butene and 2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene) were measured in a stopped‐flow system at a pressure of 500 mbar synthetic air at 295 ± 2 K using FT‐IR spectroscopy, (unit: cm3 molecule?1 s?1, errors represent 2σ ): 2‐methyl‐2‐butene: (4.1 ± 0.5) × 10?16 and 2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene: (1.0 ± 0.2) × 10?15. Subcellular fractionation increases the probability of detection of low-abundance proteins. We prepared a fraction highly enriched in mitochondrial proteins from rat liver. The proteins were analyzed by two-dimensional (2-D) electrophoresis using broad-and narrow-range immobilized pH gradient strips, and identified by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). 192 different gene products were detected, of which approximately 70% were enzymes with a broad spectrum of catalytic activities. Most of the identified proteins were detected in other rat protein samples as well, which were analyzed in our laboratory. Eight gene products were detected for the first time. These were represented by one spot each, whereas most of the frequently detected proteins were represented by multiple spots. In average, approximately 10-15 spots corresponded to one gene product. 相似文献

Tetranuclear Co‐grid complexes incorporating bis‐tridentate ligands, namely 4,6‐bis(2,2′‐bipyrid‐6‐yl)‐2‐phenylpyrimidine, were electrosprayed onto a Au(111) substrate under an ultrahigh vacuum. Fragmentation occurs leaving the ligands in four different conformations. Most ligands are found to form H‐bonded dimers. The most abundant conformer of the ligand on the Au surface is an asymmetric form, which has not been observed before. The present results indicate that the fragmentation of coordination compounds during the deposition process, in principle, allows for surface trapping, identification, and investigation of high energy, out‐of‐equilibrium conformations of the ligand molecules at low temperatures, which otherwise would not be observable. 相似文献
