A strontium-doped hardystonite (Sr-HT) bioceramic, in bulk form, demonstrates excellent bioactivity for bone regeneration with high fracture toughness and compressive strength. This work examines the antibacterial and mechanical properties of Sr-HT coatings on an alpha-beta titanium alloy with a high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance (Ti-6Al-4V) produced by atmospheric plasma spray (APS) as the deposition coating technique. A hydroxyapatite (HAp) APS coating, a commercial bioceramic coating, is chosen as the control. The in-situ observation showed that Sr-HT powders experience temperatures during plasma processing that exceeded their melting point to form a coating well adhered to the substrate. It was demonstrated that the Sr-HT coating possessed superior antibacterial properties against Gram-positive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition, the Sr-HT coating exhibits a uniform distribution of hardness and elastic moduli, higher nanohardness and elastic moduli compared to the equivalent properties of the HAp coating. Moreover, the Sr-HT coating outperforms the HAp coating regarding scratch and wear resistance. The bonding and shear strength of the Sr-HT coating are higher than the values required for orthopedic implant coatings. The Sr-HT coating also allows efficient zinc, silicon and strontium ions release when immersed in cell culture media. In summary, the antibacterial capabilities and the mechanical properties of the Sr-HT APS coating exceed those of the commercial HAp APS coating. Polysulfone (PSf) films were functionalized with block copolymers containing poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PBA) as anchor block which is able to firmly tether the biocidal quaternized poly(2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMAq) to the surface. Block copolymers were synthesized using sequential atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and quaternization with methyl and/or octyl groups rendered the polymers biocidal. Upon reversible swelling of the PSf surface layer in the adsorption/entrapment process, incorporation of the block copolymer is anticipated to be stable; homopolymers, i.e., methyl- or octyl-quaternized PDMAEMAq, were investigated for comparison. The addition of salt to the functionalization solution containing the block copolymer induced a decrease in the critical micelle concentration and lead to higher functionalization efficiency. The impact of intra- or interchain interactions in these aggregates on adsorption and firm entrapment in PSf was determined by measuring contact angle, charge density and zeta potential. 相似文献

The gas-phase reaction of OH radicals with benzene has been studied in a flow tube operated at 295 +/- 2 K and 950 mbar of synthetic air or O2. Ozonolysis of tetramethylethylene (dark reaction) with a measured OH radical yield of 0.92 +/- 0.08 or photolysis of methyl nitrite in the presence of NO served as the OH sources. For investigations in the presence of NOx, the conditions were chosen so that more than 95% of the OH/benzene adduct reacted with O2 even for the highest NO2 concentration occurring in the experiment. In the absence of NOx, a phenol yield from the reaction of OH radicals with benzene of 0.61 +/- 0.07 was measured by means of long-path FT-IR and UV spectroscopy over a wide range of experimental conditions. This yield was confirmed by measurements performed in the presence of NOx. Detected carbonyls were glyoxal, cis-butenedial and trans-butenedial with formation yields of 0.29 +/- 0.10, 0.08 +/- 0.03 and 0.023 +/- 0.007, respectively, measured in synthetic air and in the presence of NOx. There was no significant difference in the product yields applying both experimental approaches for OH generation (dark reaction or photolysis). Nitrobenzene and o-nitrophenol were detected in traces. The yield of nitrobenzene increased with increasing NOx resulting in a maximum formation yield of 0.007. The detected products in the presence of NOx account for approximately 78% of the reacted carbon. Butenedial yields from benzene degradation are reported for the first time. In the absence of NOx, glyoxal, cis-butenedial and trans-butenedial were also detected, but with distinctly lower yields compared to the experiments with NOx. 相似文献

From a quantum mechanical model for quasielastic nuclear scattering, employing a pocket in the internuclear potential at close distances, a distribution of nuclear delay times is derived. The influence of this time structure on atomic excitation spectra is demonstrated using positron emission from supercritical collisions as an example. In a narrow regime of beam energies close to the Coulomb barrier, a considerable probability for collisions with long nuclear delay times is found, associated with a sharp peak in the positron spectrum which is due to enhanced spontaneous positron production. It is pointed out that quasielastic nuclear scattering alone cannot account for the absolute numbers of spontaneous positrons as extracted from recent experiments. A possible generalization of the theory to include inelastic nuclear processes is briefly discussed. 相似文献
