Biofilms may immobilize toxic heavy metals in the environment and thereby influence their migration behaviour. The mechanisms
of these processes are currently not understood, because the complexity of such biofilms creates many discrete geochemical
microenvironments which may differ from the surrounding bulk solution in their bacterial diversity, their prevailing geochemical
properties, e.g. pH and dissolved oxygen concentration, the presence of organic molecules, e.g. metabolites, and many more,
all of which may affect metal speciation. To obtain such information, which is necessary for performance assessment studies
or the development of new cost-effective strategies for cleaning waste waters, it is very important to develop new non-invasive
methods applicable to study the interactions of metals within biofilm systems. Laser fluorescence techniques have some superior
features, above all very high sensitivity for fluorescent heavy metals. An approach combining confocal laser scanning microscopy
and laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy for study of the interactions of biofilms with uranium is presented. It was found
that coupling these techniques furnishes a promising tool for in-situ non-invasive study of fluorescent heavy metals within

On the 1H NMR timescale, 2,2′‐biindolyls with (R)‐configured (1‐alkoxyprop)‐2‐yl, (1‐hydroxyprop)‐2‐yl, or (1‐siloxyprop)‐2‐yl substituents at C‐1 and C‐1′ are atropisomerically stable at <0 °C and interconvert at >30 °C. A 2,2′‐biindolyl (R,R)‐ 17 a of that kind and achiral (!) brominating reagents gave the atropisomerically stable 3,3′‐dibromobiindolyls (M)‐ and/or (P)‐ 18 a at best atropselectively—because of point‐to‐axial asymmetric inductions—and atropdivergently, exhibiting up to 95 % (M)‐ and as much (P)‐atropselectivity. This route to atropisomerically pure biaryls is novel and should extend to other substrates and/or different functionalizations. The dibromobiindolyls (M)‐ and (P)‐ 18 a furnished the biindolyldiphosphanes (M)‐ and (P)‐ 14 without atropisomerization. These syntheses did not require the resolution of a racemic mixture, which distinguishes them from virtually all biaryldiphosphane syntheses known to date. (M)‐ and (P)‐ 14 acted as ligands in catalytic asymmetric allylations and hydrogenations. We present for the first time the Raman microspectroscopic identification and characterization of individual airborne volcanic ash (VA) particles. The particles were collected in April/May 2010 during research aircraft flights, which were performed by Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt in the airspace near the Eyjafjallajökull volcano eruption and over Europe (between Iceland and Southern Germany). In addition, aerosol particles were sampled by an Electrical Low Pressure Impactor in Munich, Germany. As references for the Raman analysis, we used the spectra of VA collected at the ground near the place of eruption, of mineral basaltic rock, and of different minerals from a database. We found significant differences in the spectra of VA and other aerosol particles (e.g., soot, nitrates, sulfates, and clay minerals), which allowed us to identify VA among other atmospheric particulate matter. Furthermore, while the airborne VA shows a characteristic Raman pattern (with broad band from ca. 200 to ca. 700 cm?1 typical for SiO2 glasses and additional bands of ferric minerals), the differences between the spectra of aged and fresh particles were observed, suggesting differences in their chemical composition and/or structure. We also analyzed similarities between Eyjafjallajökull VA particles collected at different sampling sites and compared the particles with a large variety of glassy and crystalline minerals. Zwitterionic titanoxanes {Cp[η5-C5H4B(C6F5)3]Ti}2O (I) and {(η5-iPrC5H4)[η5-1,3-iPrC5H3B(C6F5)3]Ti}2O (II), which contain two positively charged Ti(IV) centres in the molecule, are able to catalyse the ring-opening polymerization of -caprolactone (-CL) in toluene solution and in bulk. The process proceeds with a noticeable rate even at room temperature and accelerates strongly on raising the temperature to 60 °C. The best results have been obtained on carrying out the reaction in bulk. Under these conditions, the use of I as a catalyst (-CL:I = 1000:1) gives at 60 °C close to quantitative yield of poly--CL with the molecular mass of 197 000. An increase in the -CL:I ratio to 6000:1 increases the molecular mass of poly--CL to 530 000. Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is also polymerized under the action of I albeit with a lesser rate. However, the molecular mass of the resulting poly-THF can reach rather big values under optimal conditions (up to 217 000 at 20 °C and the THF:I ratio of 770:1). A rise in the reaction temperature from 20 to 60 °C results here to a decrease in the efficiency of the process. Titanoxane II is close to I in its catalytic activity in the -CL polymerization but it is much less active in the polymerization of THF. Propylene oxide (PO), in contrast to -CL and THF, gives with I only liquid oligomers in wide temperature and PO:I molar ratio ranges (−30 to +20 °C, PO:I = 500–2000:1). γ-Butyrolactone and 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone are not polymerized under the action of I at room temperature. The reactions found are the first examples of catalysis of the cationic ring-opening polymerization by zwitterionic metallocenes of the group IVB metals. 相似文献

Using laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy the hyperfine structure of the even parity levels 4f 146s6d 3 D 1, 4f 14 6s8s 3 S 1 and 4f 13 5d6s6p (7/2, 5/2)J=1,2,3 as well as of the odd parity level 4f 14 6s6p 3 P 2 in neutral ytterbium has been investigated. The isotope shift of the transitions 4f 146s6p 3 P 0 → 4f 14 6s6p 3 D 1 and 4f 14 6s6p 3 P 2 → 4f 14 6s8s 3 S 1, 4f 13 5d6s6p (7/2, 5/2)J=1,2,3 could be measured with high accuracy. The results for the 4f 14 6s6p 3 D 1 level show a considerable influence of second order effects of the hyperfine interaction. The isotope shifts of the 4f 14 6s8s 3 S 1 and 4f 13 5d6s6p (7/2, 5/2)J=1 levels indicate a possible configuration mixing for these levels. 相似文献

Summary Thin, amorphous silicon nitride (a-SINx) films were deposited on n-type (100) silicon substrates using an argon ion beam for sputtering a HPSN block under high vacuum conditions. The substrates were kept at room temperature. Nitrogen depth distributions were determined by NRA using the resonance reaction 15N(p,)12C at 429 keV. Hydrogen profiles were analysed by NRA (1H(15N,)12C at Eo=6.385 MeV) and by ERDA (20Ne2+, Eo=10 MeV). The NRA was used to determine the depth distributions (concentration vs. areal density) of nitrogen and hydrogen taking calibration standards into consideration. The silicon depth distributions and the N/Si ratios of the deposited a-SiNx films were determined by RBS (4He+, Eo=2.0 MeV). Film thicknesses were obtained by SEM. The density of the deposited a-SiNx films was found to be =2.7 (±0.1) g/cm3 by correlating RBS data and real film thicknesses as obtained by SEM. 相似文献

Sulfate-selective electrodes can be fabricated from commercial platinum electrodes by coating them with a mixture of Aliquat-336 and trifluoroacetyl-p-butylbenzene in polyvinyl chloride matrix. Adding a solid, sparingly soluble sulfate such as that of strontium, lead, barium, or 2-aminoperimidine (2-AP) improves the selectivity for sulfate relative to nitrate. The 2-AP electrode shows the best physical stability and is described in detail. The order ofanion interference is ClO4->Cl->NO3->H2PO4->F-. The useful pH range is 4–9. The response is Nernstian from 10-5 to 10-1 M in sodium sulfate solutions. 相似文献
