A Flexible Composite Mechanical Energy Harvester from a Ferroelectric Organoamino Phosphonium Salt

A new binary organic salt diphenyl diisopropylamino phosphonium hexaflurophosphate (DPDP?PF₆) was shown to exhibit a good ferroelectric response and employed for mechanical energy harvesting application. The phosphonium salt crystallizes in the monoclinic noncentrosymmetric space group Cc and exhibits an H‐bonded 1D chain structure due to N?H???F interactions. Ferroelectric measurements on the single crystals of DPDP?PF₆ gave a well‐saturated rectangular hysteresis loop with a remnant (P_r) polarization value of 6 μC cm^?2. Further, composite devices based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) films for various weight percentages (3, 5, 7, 10 and 20 wt %) of DPDP?PF₆ were prepared and examined for power generation by using an impact test setup. A maximum output peak‐to‐peak voltage (V_PP) of 8.5 V and an output peak‐to‐peak current (I_PP) of 0.5 μA was obtained for the non‐poled composite film with 10 wt % of DPDP?PF₆. These results show the efficacy of organic ferroelectric substances as potential micropower generators.     

Enantiospecific Total Syntheses and Assignment of Absolute Configuration of Cannabinol‐Skeletal Carbazole Alkaloids Murrayamines‐O and ‐P

First enantiospecific total syntheses of the cannabinol‐skeletal carbazole alkaloids murrayamines‐O and ‐P isolated from root barks of Murraya euchrestifoli, have been accomplished by highly diastereoselective, Lewis acid catalyzed coupling reactions of commercially available monoterpenes with carbazole derivative, which in addition to confirming the structure also established the absolute configuration of the natural products. Synthesis of both natural products and their enantiomers was achieved with high atom economy, in a protecting‐group free manner and in six steps longest linear sequence from commercially available aniline derivative and verbenol.

Dimerization of phenols and naphthols using an aqueous sodium hypochlorite

The observation of an unusual dimerization of phenols and naphthols using a sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) in an aqueous solution is reported. NaOCl is an environmentally friendly and less expensive reagent than previously used reagents for dimerization. The yield of the dimer is moderate to high at ambient temperature.     

Influence of the Er3+ Content on the Luminescence Properties and on the Structure of Er2O3-SiO2 Xerogels

Er₂O₃-SiO₂ xerogels doped with different Er/Si concentrations were annealed at 950°C for 120 h. The Er³⁺ doping level varied from 0 to 40000 Er/Si ppm. The effect of Er₂O₃ content on the sintering behavior of silica gels and on the luminescence properties was studied by Vis-NIR absorption, Raman and luminescence spectroscopies.     

A solvent and transition metal-free,highly efficient Brønsted acidic ionic liquid promoted one-potthree-component reactions for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted pyrroles

Abstract

The present protocol describes a highly efficient, transition metal and solvent-free one-pot annulation of amines, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and β-nitrostyrene using imidazolium Brønsted acidic ionic liquid for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted pyrroles. A diverse functionalized tetrasubstituted pyrroles derivatives were obtained with excellent yields under transition metal and solvent-free conditions. The Brønsted acidic ionic liquid can be easily recovered and reused for the next reaction without any effects on the yields of the products. This green protocol provides structurally complex, medicinally important tetrasubstituted pyrroles with various substitution patterns in a one-pot operation.     

ESR study of irradiated single crystal ofp-toluidinium chloride

Electron spin-resonance has been observed in irradiated single crystals ofp-toluidinium chloride. The spectra obtained for different orientations of the crystal are analysed on the basis of the formation of cyclohexadienyl type of radicals. Partially deuteratedp-toluidinium-ND₃ chloride sample was studied to confirm these results. A qualitative study of irradiatedo-toluidinium bromide and the related deuterium labelled compounds has supported the formation of such radicals.
