Synthesis and photoluminescence investigations of the white light emitting phosphor,vanadate garnet,Ca2NaMg2V3O12 co-doped with Dy and Sm

Vanadate garnet systems namely Ca₂NaMg₂V₃O₁₂, individually doped with Dy and Sm and also co-doped with both the RE ions were synthesized via the solid-state reaction route and their photoluminescence (PL) properties were investigated. The method of synthesis was verified by the formation of single phase compound through X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. Existence of energy transfer in between the host and the dopant ions was established by PL investigation. Color coordinates of all the compounds were calculated and plotted on the CIE diagram. It was seen that the co-doped system has a near white light emission. It was concluded that this single phosphor is capable of converting the ultraviolet emission of a UV-LED into white light.     

Radiation effect on optimum design analysis of a constructal T-shaped fin with variable thermal conductivity

A constructal T-shaped fin with temperature dependent thermal conductivity of fin the material exposed to both convective and radiative environments is analyzed by Adomian decomposition method. This method provides a closed form of analytical solution for analyzing the temperature distribution, performance and optimum design. A comparative study has been executed among the present and published works. Unlike the published work, dependent parameters on the performance and optimization analysis are highlighted.     

Separation of uranium from solid (U,Pu, Ag) oxide analytical waste: effect of batch size and nitric acid molarity

This work presents the investigation of some commercially available and commonly used Si₃N₄ foils prepared with LPCVD technique. The density and the stoichiometry of these films were determined by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy and profilometry, while the study of impurities was achieved with particle induced X-ray emission method. It was found that the density of the studied Si₃N₄ films is significantly less (~2.71 g cm^?3), while the stoichiometry is close to the values of the bulk material. The results were verified by measuring the ion energy loss through the films by scanning transmission ion microscopy.     

Efficient Synthesis of Bis(4-Dimethaminophenyl)arylmethanes and Bis(4-Diamethaminophenyl)alkanes Using Iodine Reagent

A novel synthetic utility of NaICl₂ for the preparation of bis(4-dimethaminophenyl)arylmethanes and bis(4-dimethaminophenyl)alkanes is described. In the presence of an aqueous solution of NaICl₂, the reaction of arenes with aromatic aldehydes gives corresponding triarylmethane derivatives regioselectively in moderate to good yields. The method is also useful for the preparation of diarylalkane derivatives by using aliphatic aldehydes.
