At present, there are three popular vulcanization processes being used in natural rubber latex industries, which are sulfur, radiation and peroxide vulcanization. Sulfur vulcanization produced products with superior mechanical properties compared to radiation and peroxide vulcanization. This paper discussed the effect of gamma irradiation dose on hybrid radiation and peroxidation vulcanizations in improving the mechanical properties of radiation vulcanized natural rubber latex (RVNRL). Latex compounding formulations are developed based on 2.5?parts per hundred rubber (phr) of hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA) as the sensitizer, 0.1?phr of tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHPO) as the co-sensitizer and 2.5?phr of Aquanox LP antioxidant. The RVNRL was prepared and irradiated at various gamma radiation doses of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12?kiloGray (kGy). The rubber film obtained from irradiation at 6?kGy had tensile strength, modulus @ 500% and modulus @ 700% of 27.0, 3.0 and 11.0?MPa, respectively, which is more than 37% increment compared to the control film. Some individuals complain of hearing difficulties in the presence of background noise even in the absence of clinically significant hearing loss (obscure auditory dysfunction). Previous evidence suggests that these listeners have impaired frequency resolution, but there has been no thorough characterization of auditory filter shapes in this population. Here, the filter shapes of adults (n = 14) who self-reported speech recognition problems in noise and performed poorly on a sentence-in-noise perception test despite having clinically normal audiograms were compared to those of controls (n = 10). The filter shapes were evaluated using a 2-kHz probe with a fixed level of 30, 40, or 50 dB sound pressure level (SPL) and notched-noise simultaneous maskers that were varied in level to determine the masker level necessary to just mask the probe. The filters of the impaired group were significantly wider than those of controls at all probe levels owing to an unusual broadening of the upper slope of the filter. In addition, absolute thresholds were statistically indistinguishable between the groups at the standard audiometric frequencies, but were elevated in the impaired listeners at higher frequencies. These results strengthen the idea that this population has a variety of hearing deficits that go undetected by standard audiometry. 相似文献

An investigation was conducted to study the effect of solvent composition and temperature on the efficiency of pretreatment prior to enzymatic hydrolysis. The aim was to improve the sugar recovery of oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber (EFBF) through enzymatic hydrolysis. Two types of pretreatments, namely, acidified-glycerol (AC-g) pretreatment and alkaline-glycerol (AL-g) pretreatment were conducted. The study proved that AL-g pretreatment promoted higher delignification and enzymatic hydrolyzed sugar yield compared to AC-g pretreatment. Total sugar recovery of 81.44 and 96.55 % was achieved from AL-g pretreatment at 80 and 120 °C respectively, following the enzymatic hydrolysis. However, downstream industrial processes, involving enzyme treatment along the processing line have the preference of acidic condition. Thus, AC-g pretreatment was favorable. Approximately 51.74 % total sugar had been recovered successfully from enzymatic hydrolysis of EFBF after 3 h of pretreatment by using solvent comprising of 50 % acetic acid and 80 % aqueous glycerol at a ratio of 97:3 at 120 °C. 相似文献
