Bone fractures are lesions of different etiology; may be associated or not to bone losses; and have different options for treatment, such as the use of biomaterials, guided bone regeneration, techniques considered effective on improving bone repair. Laser therapy has also been shown to improve bone healing on several models. The association of these three techniques has been well documented by our group using different models. This study aimed to assess, through Raman spectroscopy, the incorporation of calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA approximately 958 cm(-1)) on the repair of complete tibial fractures in rabbits treated with wire osteosynthesis (WO); treated or not with laser therapy; and associated or not with the use of BMPs and/or Guided Bone Regeneration. Complete tibial fractures were created in 12 animals that were divided into four groups: WO; WO+BMPs; WO+laser therapy; and WO+BMPs+laser therapy. Irradiation started immediately after surgery; was repeated at every other day during 2 weeks; and was carried out with lambda 790 nm laser light (4 J/cm(2) per point, 40 mW, phi approximately 0.5 cm(2), 16J per session). Animal death occurred after 30 days. Raman spectroscopy was performed at both the surface and the depth of the fracture site. Statistical analysis showed significant difference on the concentrations of CHA between surface and depth. The analysis in each of the areas showed at the depth of the fracture significant differences between all treatment groups (p<0.0001). Significant differences were also seen between WO+BMPs+laser therapy and WO (p<0.001) and WO+laser therapy (p<0.001). At the surface, significant difference was seen only between the treatment groups and the non-fractured subjects (p=0.0001). However, no significant difference was seen between the treatment groups (p=0.14). It is concluded that the use of NIR laser therapy associated to BMPs and GBR was effective in improving bone healing on the fractured bones as a result of the increasing deposition of CHA measured by Raman spectroscopy.  相似文献

The cardiovascular system incorporates several controlling mechanisms acting as feedback loops over different time horizons. Because of their complex interrelationships, information-based methods such as autonomic information flow (AIF) functions promise to be useful in identifying normal and pathological behavior. Optimal adjustment between those controllers is necessary for healthy global behavior of the organism. We investigated the question as to whether there are typical relationships between short-term and long-term AIF by means of a meta-analysis of several of our own clinical studies of the mortality of patients with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, heart failure, idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, and the length of stay in hospital after abdominal aorta surgery. We found a fundamental association of increased short-term randomness (decreased AIF) and decreased long-term randomness (increased AIF) due to pathology. A systems theoretic validation of this fundamental type of association was done by an appropriate mathematical model using a dissipative system with two feedback loops over different time horizons. The systematic simulation of an increasing collapse of the short feedback loop confirmed the inverse association between short-term and long-term information flow as a fundamental, system inherent type of readjustment that occurs under pathological conditions.  相似文献

The capability to obtain quantitative information of a simple way from Raman spectra is a subject of considerable interest. In this work, this is demonstrated for mixtures of ethanol with water and rhodamine-6G (R-6G) with methanol, which were analyzed directly in glass vessel. The Raman intensities and a simple mathematical model have been used and applied for the analysis of liquid samples. It is starting point to generate a general expression, from the experimental spectra, as the sum of the particular expression for each pure compound allow us to obtain an expression for the mixtures which can be used for determining concentrations, from the Raman spectrum, of the mixture.  相似文献

The understanding of the dynamic behavior of the voter model, in low-dimensional media, is a very interesting open topic. In fact, due to the absence of the interfacial tension, only the interfacial noise becomes relevant during the coarsening processes, bringing the possibility of studing a new physical process. In this way, it is known that below the upper critical dimension (d < 2) and starting from a disordered configuration, a critical coarsening process takes place, and the density of interfaces, ρ(t), decays as a power-law function of time. Recently published numerical studies performed on low-dimensional fractal substrates (d F < 2) [Physica A 362, 338 (2006)] show the existence of logarithmic-periodic oscillations superimposed on the standard ρ(t) power-law behavior, but the origin of those oscillations remains unclear. In this work, we provide an explanation of these oscillations in terms of the interplay between the dynamics of the voter model and the discrete scale invariance of the underlying fractal substrate. Our arguments are verified by means of extensive numerical simulations carried out on different fractal substrates.  相似文献

The preparation of a series of complexes of the type CpIrX2(NHC) provides effective catalysts for the H/D exchange of a wide range of organic molecules in methanol-d4. The reaction proceeds with higher yields under milder reaction conditions than previous CpIr systems reported thus far. For comparative purposes, we also studied the catalytic activity of CpIrCl2(PMe3) under the same reaction conditions. Two tripodal trisimidazolium ligand precursors have been tested in the synthesis of new N-heterocyclic carbene rhodium and iridium complexes. [Tris(3-methylbenzimidazolium-1-yl)]methane sulfate gave products with coordination of the decomposed precursor. [1,1,1-Tris(3-butylimidazolium-1-yl)methyl]ethane trichloride (TIMEH(3)(Bu)) coordinated to the metal in a chelate and bridged-chelate form, depending on the reaction conditions. The crystal structures of two of the products are described. The compounds resulting from the coordination with TIME(Bu) were tested in the catalytic hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes.  相似文献

Latinas/os, the largest and fastest growing minority ethnic group in the United States (impels research that focuses on the education of Latinas/os and the need to reduce the achievement gap that persists between Latinas/os and other groups. Such research has gained in popularity; however, it is still very limited. I use my teaching experience with Latina/o students to highlight the need to motivate Latina/o students in Algebra I, a gatekeeper course for many minority students. In addition, also included are several factors affecting Latina/o students' motivation to learn. The call is urgent and researchers and teachers must pay close attention to the mathematics education of Latina/o students and to the positive consequence on the social and economic welfare of America.  相似文献

The distribution of proteins in the cross section of a normal pig lens was studied by near-infrared Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectra were measured in the visual and equatorial axes of this cross section and the protein peak intensities were determined. It was found that along each axis the protein intensities fluctuate. They have a considerable increment along the visual axis with the exception of the C-N bond peak intensities at 1087.2 cm(-1), which decrease, and along the equatorial axis the increment is slight. This increment in protein distribution along the visual axis is related with the refractive gradient of the lens. The classification of pig lens spectra in these axes was performed using principal component analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). Cross-validation shows an excellent group separation.  相似文献
