Infrared multiple photon dissociation spectra for the chloride ion solvated by either water, methanol or ethanol have been recorded using an FTICR spectrometer coupled to a free-electron laser, and are presented here along with assignments to the observed bands. The assignments made to the Cl(-)/H(2)O, Cl(-)(CH(3)OH), and Cl(-)(CH(3)CH(2)OH) spectra are based on comparison with the neutral H(2)O, CH(3)OH, and CH(3)CH(2)OH spectra, respectively. This work confirms that a band observed around 1400 cm(-1) in the Cl(-)(H(2)O) spectrum is not due to the Ar tag in Ar predissociation spectra. The carrier of this band is, most likely, the first overtone of the OHCl bend. Based on the position of the overtone in the IRMPD spectrum, 1375 cm(-1), the fundamental must occur very close to 700 cm(-1) and observation of this band should aid theoretical treatments of the spectrum of this complex. B3LYP/6-311++G(2df,2pd) calculations are shown to reproduce the IRMPD spectra of all three solvated chloride species. They also predict that attaching one or two Ar atoms to the Cl(-)(H(2)O) complex results in a shift of no more than a few wavenumbers in the fundamental bands for the bare complex, in agreement with previous experiment. For both alcohol-Cl(-) complexes, the S(N)2 "backside attack" isomers are not observed and Cl(-) is predicted theoretically, and confirmed experimentally, to be bound to the hydroxyl hydrogen. For Cl(-)(CH(3)CH(2)OH), the trans and gauche conformers are similar in energy, with the gauche conformer predicted to be thermodynamically favoured. The experimental infrared spectrum agrees well with that predicted for the gauche conformer but a mixture of gauche and anti conformers cannot be ruled out based on the experimental spectra nor on the computed thermochemistry. 相似文献

Iso-polyhalomethanes are known reactive intermediates that play a pivotal role in the photochemistry of halomethanes in condensed phases. In this work, iso-bromoform (iso-CHBr(3)) and its deuterated isotopomer were characterized by matrix isolation infrared and UV/visible spectroscopy, supported by ab initio and density functional theory calculations, to further probe the structure, spectroscopy, and photochemistry of this important intermediate. Selected wavelength laser irradiation of CHBr(3) isolated in Ar or Ne matrices at ~5 K yielded iso-CHBr(3); the observed infrared and UV/visible absorptions are in excellent agreement with computational predictions, and the energies of various stationary points on the CHBr(3) potential energy surface were characterized computationally using high-level methods in combination with correlation consistent basis sets. These calculations show that, while the corresponding minima lie ~200 kJ/mol above the global CHBr(3) minimum, the isomer is bound by some 60 kJ/mol in the gas phase with respect to the CHBr(2) + Br asymptote. The photochemistry of iso-CHBr(3) was investigated by selected wavelength laser irradiation into the intense S(0) → S(3) transition, which resulted in back photoisomerization to CHBr(3). Intrinsic reaction coordinate calculations confirmed the existence of a first-order saddle point connecting the two isomers, which lies energetically below the threshold of the radical channel. Subsequently, natural bond orbital analysis and natural resonance theory were used to characterize the important resonance structures of the isomer and related stationary points, which demonstrate that the isomerization transition state represents a crossover from dominantly covalent to dominantly ionic bonding. In condensed phases, the ion-pair dominated isomerization transition state structure is preferentially stabilized, so that the barrier to isomerization is lowered. 相似文献

We have investigated the slipped parallel and t-shaped structures of carbon dioxide dimer [(CO(2))(2)] using both conventional and explicitly correlated coupled cluster methods, inclusive and exclusive of counterpoise (CP) correction. We have determined the geometry of both structures with conventional coupled cluster singles doubles and perturbative triples theory [CCSD(T)] and explicitly correlated cluster singles doubles and perturbative triples theory [CCSD(T)-F12b] at the complete basis set (CBS) limits using custom optimization routines. Consistent with previous investigations, we find that the slipped parallel structure corresponds to the global minimum and is 1.09 kJ mol(-1) lower in energy. For a given cardinal number, the optimized geometries and interaction energies of (CO(2))(2) obtained with the explicitly correlated CCSD(T)-F12b method are closer to the CBS limit than the corresponding conventional CCSD(T) results. Furthermore, the magnitude of basis set superposition error (BSSE) in the CCSD(T)-F12b optimized geometries and interaction energies is appreciably smaller than the magnitude of BSSE in the conventional CCSD(T) results. We decompose the CCSD(T) and CCSD(T)-F12b interaction energies into the constituent HF or HF CABS, CCSD or CCSD-F12b, and (T) contributions. We find that the complementary auxiliary basis set (CABS) singles correction and the F12b approximation significantly reduce the magnitude of BSSE at the HF and CCSD levels of theory, respectively. For a given cardinal number, we find that non-CP corrected, unscaled triples CCSD(T)-F12b/VXZ-F12 interaction energies are in overall best agreement with the CBS limit. 相似文献

The four isomers 2,4‐, (I), 2,5‐, (II), 3,4‐, (III), and 3,5‐difluoro‐N‐(3‐pyridyl)benzamide, (IV), all with formula C12H8F2N2O, display molecular similarity, with interplanar angles between the C6/C5N rings ranging from 2.94 (11)° in (IV) to 4.48 (18)° in (I), although the amide group is twisted from either plane by 18.0 (2)–27.3 (3)°. Compounds (I) and (II) are isostructural but are not isomorphous. Intermolecular N—H...O=C interactions form one‐dimensional C(4) chains along [010]. The only other significant interaction is C—H...F. The pyridyl (py) N atom does not participate in hydrogen bonding; the closest H...Npy contact is 2.71 Å in (I) and 2.69 Å in (II). Packing of pairs of one‐dimensional chains in a herring‐bone fashion occurs viaπ‐stacking interactions. Compounds (III) and (IV) are essentially isomorphous (their a and b unit‐cell lengths differ by 9%, due mainly to 3,4‐F2 and 3,5‐F2 substitution patterns in the arene ring) and are quasi‐isostructural. In (III), benzene rotational disorder is present, with the meta F atom occupying both 3‐ and 5‐F positions with site occupancies of 0.809 (4) and 0.191 (4), respectively. The N—H...Npy intermolecular interactions dominate as C(5) chains in tandem with C—H...Npy interactions. C—H...O=C interactions form R22(8) rings about inversion centres, and there are π–π stacks about inversion centres, all combining to form a three‐dimensional network. By contrast, (IV) has no strong hydrogen bonds; the N—H...Npy interaction is 0.3 Å longer than in (III). The carbonyl O atom participates only in weak interactions and is surrounded in a square‐pyramidal contact geometry with two intramolecular and three intermolecular C—H...O=C interactions. Compounds (III) and (IV) are interesting examples of two isomers with similar unit‐cell parameters and gross packing but which display quite different intermolecular interactions at the primary level due to subtle packing differences at the atom/group/ring level arising from differences in the peripheral ring‐substitution patterns. 相似文献

Longitudinal-acoustic (LA) phonons have been studied by inelastic x-ray scattering in the high-pressure incommensurate host-guest system Rb-IV in the pressure range of 16.3 to 18.4 GPa. Two LA-like phonon branches are observed along the direction of the incommensurate wave vector, which are attributed to separate lattice vibrations in the host and guest subsystems. The derived sound velocities for the host and the guest, v(h) and v(g), respectively, are similar in magnitude [v(h)=v(g)=3840(100) m/s at 18 GPa], but our results indicate rather different pressure dependences of dv(h)/dP=140(60) m/s GPa(-1) and dv(g)/dP=280(80) m/s GPa(-1). The observations for the one-dimensional Rb guest chains are reproduced quantitatively on the basis of the monatomic linear chain model and the measured compressibility of the chains. 相似文献

Two new polytopic ligands L1 and L2 have been synthesized. They consist of a central tren unit to which three 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane rings are attached via an ethylene and a trimethylene bridge, respectively. The complexation properties of L1 and L2 towards Cu(2+) and Ni(2+) were studied by potentiometric pH titration, UV-Vis, EPR spectroscopy and kinetic techniques. As a comparison, the Cu(2+) and Ni(2+) complexes with L3 (1-(N-methyl-2-aminoethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane)) were also investigated. The crystal structures of [CuL3H(H(2)O)](ClO(4))(3) and [NiL3Cl](ClO(4)) were solved and show that the side chain in its protonated form is not involved in coordination, whereas deprotonated it binds to the metal ion. The thermodynamically stable 3:1 complexes of L1 or L2 have a metal ion in the three macrocyclic units. However, when three equivalents of Cu(2+) are added to L1 or L2 the metal ion first binds to the tren unit and only then to the macrocycles. The kinetics of the different steps of complexation have been studied and a mechanism is proposed. 相似文献
