Solving the problem of contact equilibrium of a punch and an elastic body

The variational problem of contact equilibrium of a punch and an elastic body is considered. An equivalent formulation of the problem is given in variational inequality form. Existence and uniqueness of the solution is investigated in a particular case. Reaction of methyl bromopropiolate with diamines as a method of synthesis of imidazolidine derivatives

Free and nonsteady-state oscillations of elastic fluid-filled systems situated on an elastic base

We develop a method of computing the nonsteady-state and free oscillations of a framed elastic structure situated on an elastic base and containing an ideal compressible fluid. The solution uses the method of integral transforms in conjunction with the method of orthogonal polynomials. In the transform space the problem reduces to systems of linear algebraic equations. Isolation of singularities in the density and the kernel of a two-dimensional integral equation for complex boundary surfaces

We consider the solution of integral equations in problems of three-dimensional electromagnetic fields in piecewise-homogeneous media. Solvability of the linearized problem on the motion of a drop in a liquid flow

In the paper one establishes the solvability in the anisotropic Sobolev-Slobodetskii spaces of the linear problem, generated by the problem of the nonstationary motion of a drop in a fluid medium. In the formulation of the problem one takes into account the surface tension, which occurs in the noncoercive integral term in the conditions for the jump of the normal stresses. In the general case the velocity vector need not be solenoidal but its divergence must be represented in a special form. Estimating a reduced rank regression model for non-normal variables

A method using third order moments for estimating the regression coefficients as well as the latent state scores of the reduced-rank regression model when the latent variable(s) are non-normally distributed is presented in this paper. It is shown that the factor analysis type indeterminacy of the regression coefficient matrices is eliminated. A real life example of the proposed method is presented. Differences of this solution with the reduced-rank regression eigen solution are discussed.
