Eruca sativa Mill. (E. sativa) leaves recently grabbed the attention of scientific communities around the world due to its potent bioactivity. Therefore, the present study investigates the metabolite profiling of the ethanolic crude extract of E. sativa leaves using high resolution-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HR-LC/MS), including antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer potential against human colorectal carcinoma cell lines. In addition, computer-aided analysis was performed for determining the pharmacokinetic properties and toxicity prediction of the identified compounds. Our results show that E. sativa contains several bioactive compounds, such as vitamins, fatty acids, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids and phenols. Furthermore, the antibacterial assay of E. sativa extract showed inhibitory effects of the tested pathogenic bacterial strains. Moreover, the antioxidant activity of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) were found to be IC50 = 66.16 μg/mL and 76.05 μg/mL, respectively. E. sativa also showed promising anticancer activity against both the colorectal cancer cells HCT-116 (IC50 = 64.91 μg/mL) and Caco-2 (IC50 = 83.98 μg/mL) in a dose/time dependent manner. The phytoconstituents identified showed promising pharmacokinetics properties, representing a valuable source for drug or nutraceutical development. These investigations will lead to the further exploration as well as development of E. sativa-based nutraceutical products.  相似文献

Metamaterials’ properties may be quantified through the assignment of bulk material parameters such as magnetic permeability and electric permittivity. These assignments rely on the assumption that metamaterials are effective media, in this context meaning that their electromagnetic properties are independent of the sample size. This assumption is not always valid, particularly for metafilms, the surface equivalents of metamaterials. However, metamaterials comprised of numerous metafilm and dielectric layers can be uniquely characterized in the effective medium approximation when all aspects of the metamaterial are properly integrated. We present a simple model based on stratified systems to illustrate this fact. The model further assists in the interpretation of novel metamaterial behaviors and offers a rapid and accurate method to determine the functionality of bulk metamaterial-based devices.  相似文献

We experimentally investigate the gain saturation effect of a piece of 8 m long Erbium doped fiber (EDF), we introduce a theoretical model for the EDF ring loop, and our simulation results show very good cross-gain modulation (XGM) and wavelength conversion. We also experimentally investigate the XGM in an EDF ring loop system. Based on the study of the XGM in the EDF ring loop system, a wavelength conversion is designed with the EDF ring loop system. The EDF ring loop systems as a wavelength conversion is experimentally demonstrated by converting a sinusoidal modulated optical signal at wavelength of 1551 nm to an optical signal at wavelength of 1553.3 nm.  相似文献

In 1961, Brans and Dicke [1] provided an interesting alternative to general relativity based on Mach’s principle. To understand the reasons leading to their field equations, we first consider homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models in the Brans-Dicke theory. Accordingly we start with the Robertson-Walker line element and the energy tensor of a perfect fluid. The scalar field φ is now a function of the cosmic time only. Then we consider spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-I-cosmological solutions of modified Brans-Dicke theory containing barotropic fluid. These have been obtained by imposing a condition on the cosmological parameter Λ(φ). Again we try to focus the meaning of this cosmological term and to relate it to the time coordinate which gives us a collapse singularity or the initial singularity. On the other hand, our solution is a generalization of the solution found by Singh and Singh [2]. As far as we are aware, such solution has not been given earlier.  相似文献
