Some crown ethers were found to show significant antifungal activity against some wood-decay fungi, phytopathogenic fungi and eumycetes,Trichophytons for dermatomycosis. Their toxicity was evaluated by the paper disc method as well as by determining the values of ED50, i.e., the concentration which inhibits the mycelium growth by 50%. The fungi examined areTyromyces palustris, Picnoporous coccineus, Coriolous versicolor, Pyricularia filamentosa, Fusarium sp., Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton sp., etc. Among the 26 crown ethers tested, 3,5-di-t-butyl-benzo-15-crown-5 showed relatively high activity, the highest ED50 value of which being 8 M or 3 ppm. Other alkylbenzocrown ethers, dicyclohexyl crown ethers and Kryptofix 22DD also showed considerable activity. On the other hand, unsubstituted crown ethers, benzocrown ethers with a polar substituent, Kryptofix 222B and Kryptofix 221 were inactive. 相似文献

Summary The synthesis of a new macrocycle containing phenanthroline and pyridine subunits is described. The reaction of 2,9-bis(hydrazone)-1,10-phenanthroline with 2,6-bis-(bromomethyl) pyridine in the presence of MnII, CoII or NiII ion templates leads to the isolation, in high yield, of the seven-coordinate complexes [M(L3)Br2] (L3 = 4,5, 6,7,8,9-phenanthrolino-14,15,16-pyridino-1,2,5,8,11,12,15 heptaazacycloheptadecane,2,10-diene). The compounds were characterized by physical measurements, which indicated that in all the complexes the ligand is acting as a pentadentate N5 chelating agent. 相似文献

An electrochemical biosensor for the specific detection of short DNA sequences from the E. coli pathogen is described. This hybridization device relies on the immobilization of a 25-mer oligonucleotide probe, from the E. coli lacZ gene, onto a screen-printed carbon electrode. Chronopotentiometric detection of the Co(bpy)3+3 indicator is used for monitoring the hybridization event. Numerous variables of the assay protocol, including those of the probe immobilization step, the hybridization event, and the indicator association/detection, are characterized and optimized. Hybridization times of 2- and 30-min are sufficient for detecting 300- and 50 ng/mL, respectively, of the E. coli DNA target. Applicability to analysis of untreated environmental water samples is illustrated. Such single-use electrochemical sensors hold great promise for decentralized environmental and food testing for the E. coli pathogen. 相似文献

A variety of different benzimidazolium salts can be prepared using this procedure. Amines that bear an alpha-chiral group undergo the reaction to furnish chiral benzimidazolium salts. This work reports the advantages of using glassy carbon electrodes modified with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) dispersed in polyethylenimine (PEI). The presence of MWCNTs wrapped by PEI largely facilitated the strong adsorption of uric acid (UA) and allowed its highly sensitive and selective quantification even in the presence of high excess of ascorbic acid. The selected conditions for the electrochemical sensing were 5 s accumulation at ?0.300 V under stirring and quantification in a 0.050 M phosphate buffer solution pH 7.40 by differential pulse voltammetry adsorptive‐stripping after medium exchange. We demonstrate efficient modification of the polarized light emission from single semiconductor nanowires by coupling this emission to surface plasmon polaritons on a metal grating. The polarization anisotropy of the emitted photoluminescence from single nanowires is compared for wires deposited on silica, a flat gold film, and a shallow gold grating. By varying the orientation of the nanowire with respect to the grating grooves, the large intrinsic polarization anisotropy can be either suppressed or enhanced. This modification is interpreted by the appearance of an additional emission channel induced by surface plasmon polaritons and their conversion to p-polarized radiation at the grating. 相似文献
