Conclusions This analysis of ESE modulation effects for DPN pairs indicates that the frequencies are those of quadrupole resonance for the nitrogen atoms in the DPN in the external magnetic field, and this has enabled us to determine the quadrupole splitting parameters. However, an exact calculation on the NQR transition frequencies in the partially oriented system requires a knowledge of the directions of the electric field gradient tensor axes, which cannot be derived from these experiments. We report on the two-dimensional (2D) implementation of the refocused primary electron spin echo envelope modulation (ESEEM) technique, its theory and experimental application to a model system and a system of biological interest. This technique is virtually free of dead time along one time coordinate. The ESEEM obtained by integration of the 2D time-domain data of the refocused primary ESEEM over one of the time coordinates shows the intensity of the sum combination harmonics proportional to k2 for k 1 and proportional to k for k 1 (k is a usual notation for the modulation amplitude factor). The temperature dependence is studied of the extent of the long-range order and size of the domain in the alloy Ni3Mn, alloyed with small additions (a few atoms percent) of aluminum and copper. It is shown that A1 stabilizes the superlattice of Ni3Mn but Cu destroys it.
