Band structure of118Xe

High spin states of¹¹⁸Xe have been investigated by means of γ ray spectroscopy using the⁹²Mo(²⁹Si,2pn) at a bombarding energy of 110 MeV. Several new side bands as well as the yrast band were established. A band crossing between the ground state and super bands was observed at ?ω_c = 0.39 MeV. A negative parity band with two quasi particle excitation, and a quasi γ band were also identified.     

Enzyme labeling in steroid enzyme immunoassays. Comparison of the p-nitrophenyl ester and N-succinimidyl ester methods.

Enzyme labeling of steroids by the p-nitrophenyl ester method was investigated in comparison with the N-succinimidyl ester method. The active ester of a testosterone or 11-deoxycortisol derivative was treated with beta-galactosidase and horseradish peroxidase to give labeled antigens. Various molar ratios of steroid to enzyme and pH conditions were tested. Satisfactory immunoreactivities with an anti-steroid antibody in each enzyme immunoassay system were obtained with the labeled antigens prepared at pH 8.5 by the use of molar ratios higher than 30. The enzyme labeling method should be useful in the case of polar steroids or drugs, since the p-nitrophenyl ester is relatively stable when compared with the N-succinimidyl ester.     

Vinylic substitution on troponoid catalyzed by palladium complexes,and formation of new C-pd σ-complexes of troponoid

The reaction of 3-, 4- and 5-halotropolones with olefins catalyzed by palladium (O) complex gave 3-, 4- and 5-(substituted vinyl) tropolones respectively. Similarly, 2-chlorotropone gave 2-styryltropones. Some tropolonyl- and troponylpalladium-σ-complexes were synthesized.     

Synthesis of hydrophilic polyamide from L-tartarate and diamines by active polycondensation

Dimethyl L-tartarate underwent polycondensation reaction with hexamethylenediamine in solutions at 30°C to form polyamide having pendent hydroxyl groups. Solvents had a great influence on polymer yields and diglyme, tetrahydrofuran (THF) or dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) were favorable in respect of polymer yields. Solution viscosities of resulting polyamide were as low as 0.1 to 0.2. However, post-polycondensation of the precursor polyamide at solid phase yielded hydrophilic polyamide having film-forming ability. The polyamide decomposed at 210°C by heating.     

Enrichment and determination of zinc by high-speed countercurrent chromatography.

The capability of high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) has been investigated for enrichment and determination of metal ions at trace levels. Separation of selected divalent metal ions was performed using a small coiled column. A hexane solution of 2-ethylhexylphosphonic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester (EHPA) was employed as the stationary phase. Loaded divalent metal ions such as Ni, Co, Cu, and Zn were chromatographically eluted in the order of increasing extractability by passing a mobile phase buffered at a desired pH. Individual metal ions showed good linearity between concentrations and chromatographic peak areas of the absorbance, as detected by postcolumn reaction with 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR). Metal ions enriched into the stationary phase from a sample solution were separated into individual metal ions. The trace quantity of zinc in natural mineral water was determined by enrichment separation through an HSCCC column.
