Efficient one-pot synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones from aromatic aldehydes and their one-pot oxidation to quinazolin-4(3H)-ones catalyzed by Bi(NO3)3·5H2O: Investigating the role of the catalyst

An efficient and novel synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones via one-pot, three-component reaction of isatoic anhydride, primary amines and aromatic aldehydes catalyzed by Bi(NO₃)₃·5H₂O under solvent-free conditions is described. Oxidation of these 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones to their quinazolin-4(3H)-ones was also successfully performed in the presence of Bi(NO₃)₃·5H₂O. This new method has the advantages of convenient manipulation, short reaction times, excellent yields, very easy work-up, and the use of commercially available, low cost and relatively non-toxic catalyst. The role of Bi(NO₃)₃·5H₂O was also investigated in these transformations.     

Microwave-assisted rapid and efficient deprotection and direct esterification and silylation of MOM and EOM ethers catalyzed by [Hmim][HSO4] as a Br?nsted acidic ionic liquid

Abstract  

1-Methylimidazolium hydrogensulfate, [Hmim][HSO₄], a Br?nsted acidic room temperature ionic liquid, is used as a catalyst and reaction medium for facile and eco-friendly deprotection of methoxymethyl (MOM) and ethoxymethyl (EOM) ethers to their corresponding alcohols under thermal conditions (Δ) and microwave irradiation (MW). Furthermore, one-pot interconversion to the respective acetates and trimethylsilyl (TMS) ethers was also achieved.     

H3PW12O40–[bmim][FeCl4]: A novel and green catalyst-medium system for microwave-promoted selective interconversion of alkoxymethyl ethers into their corresponding nitriles, bromides and iodides

In the present work, the catalytic activity of 12-tungstophosphoric acid immobilized on [bmim][FeCl₄] ionic liquid as a highly efficient and eco-friendly catalytic system for rapid and chemoselective direct conversion of MOM- or EOM-ethers into their corresponding nitriles, bromides and iodides under microwave irradiation is reported. In these reactions, the products are obtained in high yields. The catalyst exhibited remarkable reactivity and was reused several times.     

Using dynamic geometry to explore non-traditional theorems

The purpose of this article is to provide examples of ‘non-traditional’ theorems that can be explored in a dynamic geometry environment by university and high school students. These theorems were encountered in the dynamic geometry environment. The author believes that teachers can ask their students to construct proofs for these theorems. The Appendix contains proof outlines for each theorem.

Pyrrole–Aminopyrimidine Ensembles: Cycloaddition of Guanidine to Acylethynylpyrroles

An efficient method for the synthesis of pharmaceutically prospective pyrrole–aminopyrimidine ensembles (in up to 91% yield) by the cyclocondensation of easily available acylethynylpyrroles with guanidine nitrate has been developed. The reaction proceeds under heating (110–115 °C, 4 h) in the KOH/DMSO system. In the case of 2-benzoylethynylpyrrole, the unexpected addition of the formed pyrrole–aminopyrimidine as N- (NH moiety of the pyrrole ring) and C- (CH of aminopyrimidine) nucleophiles to the triple bond is observed.
