The effect of electron beam irradiation on the blends of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and poly dimethyl siloxane rubber (PDMS) prepared over a wide range of compositions starting from 70:30 to 30:70 (LLDPE: PDMS) by varying the radiation doses from 50 to 300 kGy has been studied. The dynamic modulii and dielectric strength of the blends increase on irradiation at 100 kGy as compared to that for the unirradiated blends. Degree of crystallinity and melting behaviour remain unchanged upon irradiation upto a dose of 100 kGy, beyond which it decreases. Thermal stability increases with increase in the proportion of PDMS rubber in the blend as well as on irradiation at 100 kGy. The phase morphology of the blends examined under the SEM exhibit two phase morphology before electron beam irradiation, whereas single phase morphology is observed after electron beam irradiation due to intra- as well as inter-molecular crosslinking leading to a miscible system.  相似文献

Instead of highly symmetrical T-symmetry cages common in self-assembly, the p-NMe(2)-substituted triphosphine CH(3)C{CH(2)P(4-C(6)H(4)NMe(2))(3) gives open, polar C(3) symmetry cages [Ag(6)(triphos)(4)X(3)](3+) which lack one of the expected face-capping anions; despite its subtlety this difference occurs selectively in solution and two examples have been crystallographically characterised.  相似文献

Agrobacterium-mediated transformations ensure elevated amounts of secondary metabolite accumulation with genetic and biosynthetic stability. In the present study, Alpinia galanga rich in bioactive compounds was genetically transformed using different strains of Agrobacterium rhizogenes viz. LBA 9402, A 4 , 532, 2364 and PRTGus. Even though a higher growth rate was obtained with the LBA 9402 strain, maximum acetoxychavicol acetate accumulation (ACA) was seen in the PRTGus transformant. PRTGus root line has shown 10.1 fold higher ACA content in comparison to the control roots. The lowest ACA production was shown by the A 4 transformant (4.9 fold). The quantification of ACA in the transformed roots was carried out by using HPLC, which was found to be in the order of PRTGus > LBA 9402 > 2364 > 532 > A 4 . The fast growth rate of hairy roots, genetic stability and their ability to synthesize more than one metabolite offer a promising system for the production of valuable secondary metabolites.  相似文献

Biomedical nanotechnology is an evolving field having enormous potential to positively impact the health care system. Important biomedical applications of nanotechnology that may have potential clinical applications include targeted drug delivery, detection/diagnosis and imaging. Basic understanding of how nanomaterials, the building blocks of nanotechnology, interact with the cells and their biological consequences are beginning to evolve. Noble metal nanoparticles such as gold, silver and platinum are particularly interesting due to their size and shape dependent unique optoelectronic properties. These noble metal nanoparticles, particularly of gold, have elicited a lot of interest for important biomedical applications because of their ease of synthesis, characterization and surface functionalization. Furthermore, recent investigations are demonstrating another promising application of these nanomaterials as self-therapeutics. To realize the potential promise of these unique inorganic nanomaterials for future clinical translation, it is of utmost importance to understand a few critical parameters; (i) how these nanomaterials interact with the cells at the molecular level; (ii) how their biodistribution and pharmacokinetics influenced by their surface and routes of administration; (iii) mechanism of their detoxification and clearance and (iv) their therapeutic efficacy in appropriate disease model. Thus in this critical review, we will discuss the various clinical applications of gold, silver and platinum nanoparticles with relevance to above parameters. We will also mention various routes of synthesis of these noble metal nanoparticles. However, before we discuss present research, we will also look into the past. We need to understand the discoveries made before us in order to further our knowledge and technological development (318 references).  相似文献

The collision-induced process He + H(2)(+)(v = 0-2; j = 0-3) → He + H + H(+) has been investigated using a time-dependent quantum mechanical wave packet approach, within the centrifugal sudden approximation. The exchange reaction He + H(2)(+) → HeH(+) + H, which has a lower threshold, dominates over the dissociation process over the entire energy range considered in this study. The reaction cross section for both the exchange and dissociation channels and the branching ratio between the two channels have been computed on the McLaughlin-Thompson-Joseph-Sathyamurthy potential-energy surface and compared with the available experimental and quasiclassical trajectory results.  相似文献

Fluorescence quenching of 4-methyl-7-methoxy coumarin (1) and 4-methyl-5-ethoxy-7-methoxy coumarin (2) in aqueous solutions have been studied at different concentrations of halide ions (Cl-, Br-, I-), at room temperature approximately 20 degrees C. It is observed that the fluorescence intensity of both the coumarin compounds (1 and 2) decrease with increase in the concentration of Br- and I- ions but remains almost constant in case of Cl- ion. It is observed that the quenching due to halide ions proceeds via both a diffusional and static quenching processes. The rate constants for diffusional as well as static component of quenching process have been calculated using modified Stern-Volmer relation. It is further observed, that I- ion has very high quenching ability than Br- ion and Cl) ion almost behaves as a non-quencher. It is explained in terms of the sphere of action model by showing that the value of radius of sphere of action of the halide quencher is greater than the sum of the radii of the respective coumarin and quencher. Further, pattern of the quenching ability of the halide quenchers is found to be as I- > Br- > Cl- and interestingly this is in the same order as of their ionization energy. Finally, the present quenching process has been attributed to the electron transfer resulting between colliding species.  相似文献

The microhardness of coreactive blends of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and bisphenol A polycarbonate (PC) was investigated over the whole range of compositions. The occurrence of one single glass transition temperature (T g) step in the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curves indicated that intensive chemical interactions had taken place during melt blending, resulting in formation of copolycondensates with dominating random sequential order. The parallel decrease of microhardness (H) and of Tg with increasing PET content in the blends has been ascribed to the formation of new copolymer molecules enriched in the component characterized by lower H and T g values. It is emphasized that such noncrystallizable copolymers offer the possibility to evaluate the intrinsic contribution of the repeating units to the H and T g characteristics of copolymers with various compositions and sequential orders.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the convergence analysis of the fixed pivot technique given by S. Kumar and Ramkrishna (1996) [28] for the nonlinear aggregation population balance equations which are of substantial interest in many areas of science: colloid chemistry, aerosol physics, astrophysics, polymer science, oil recovery dynamics, and mathematical biology. In particular, we investigate the convergence for five different types of uniform and non-uniform meshes which turns out that the fixed pivot technique is second order convergent on a uniform and non-uniform smooth meshes. Moreover, it yields first order convergence on a locally uniform mesh. Finally, the analysis exhibits that the method does not converge on an oscillatory and non-uniform random meshes. Mathematical results of the convergence analysis are also demonstrated numerically.  相似文献

Misconceptions caused by misunderstanding mathematical language are of different types, e.g. interference of mathematical and non‐mathematical meanings, complexity or unfamiliarity of words, improper use of symbols, syntactical misunderstandings and redundancy or inadequacy of data. Fifteen mathematical words were presented to 84 students of 8th grade and the responses of students were analysed. Mathematical items of a Science Talent Search Test were also analysed from the answers of 100 candidates of 8th grade. The analysis casts light on the processes of the development of mathematical concepts which the students learn through the vicissitudes of the interaction of mathematical and non‐mathematical meanings of words which may be familiar or unfamiliar, relevant or irrelevant, and/or distinct or difficult, to the learners. Complications in understanding mathematical concepts for individual students are pointed out from these experiments. Acquaintance with such communication processes of learners can also help in detecting strategies of imparting mathematical instructions to the learners. Roles of the uses of common, mathematical, transformational, and story‐telling language have also been discussed. The paper concludes with some comments on the importance of guided discovery learning, error analysis by teachers, and the preparation of a register of mathematical language.  相似文献
