Laser gas-assisted material processing finds wide application in industry. The modelling of heating, elastic response of the substrate material, and the wave analysis gives insight into the laser workpiece interaction. In the present study, laser gas-assisted heating of steel is considered. The normal component of the thermal stress is taken as the source of load for the flexural wave generation in the material. The flexural wave generated is simulated and the wave characteristics are analyzed at four locations at the workpiece surface. The numerical scheme employing a control volume approach is introduced when solving the governing equations of flow and heat transfer while finite element and spectran element methods are used when solving the stress and wave equations. It is found that the normal component of the stress is tensile. The dispersion effect of the workpiece material, interference of the reflected beam, and partial overlapping of second mode of the travelling wave enable to identify a unique pattern in the travelling wave in the substrate.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline thin films of copper selenide have been grown on glass and tin doped-indium oxide substrates using chemical method. At ambient temperature, golden films have been synthesized and annealed at 200 °C for 1 h and were examined for their structural, surface morphological and optical properties by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy and UV-vis spectrophotometry techniques, respectively. Cu2−xSe phase was confirmed by XRD pattern and spherical grains of 30 ± 4 - 40 ± 4 nm in size aggregated over about 130 ± 10 nm islands were seen by SEM images. Effect of annealing on crystallinity improvement, band edge shift and photoelectrochemical performance (under 80 mW/cm2 light intensity and in lithium iodide electrolyte) has been studied and reported. Observed p-type electrical conductivity in copper selenide thin films make it a suitable candidate for heterojunction solar cells.  相似文献

The radiation-initiated graft polymerization of 4-vinylpyridine to high-density polyethylene has been studied under diffusion-free conditions by the mutual irradiation technique. The reaction rate is 1/2 order in radiation intensity over the range 0.00076–0.011 Mrad/hr. The reaction rate is first order in monomer at 0.00076 Mrad/hr, over the complete range of monomer concentrations; at 0.021 Mrad/hr, up to 60 vol % monomer; and at 0.21 Mrad/hr, up to 50 vol % monomer.  相似文献

A theoretical analysis has been made of the graft polymerization process in terms of the quantitative interrelationship between the initiation rate Ri, the kp/kt1/ ratio of the monomer, the equilibrium solubility M of the monomer in the polymer, the polymer film thickness L, and the diffusivity D of the monomer in the polymer. It is shown how the values of these parameters in any grafting system interact to lead to diffusion-controlled graft polymerization. Whether graft polymerization is diffusion-free or diffusion-controlled depends on the values of Kp, d, kp/kp1/2, and L as gathered in the parameter A = [(Kp/kt1/2)Ri, D,/1/2] L/2. When the values of the various terms are such that A is less than 0.1 (i.e., D is large while Ri, kp, and L are small), the reaction is diffusion-free. When A is greater than 3 (i.e., D is small while Ri, kp, and L are large), the reaction is diffusion-controlled. The derived equations showing the relationship between kinetic and diffusional parameters are theoretically applicable to all grafting systems, i.e., for all monomer-polymer combinations under all conditions of reaction temperature, radiation intensity and polymer film thickness. The theoretical analysis has been verified for the rate and degree of polymerization for the radiation-induced graft polymerization of styrene to polyethylene.  相似文献

Interfacial magnetism and magnetic anisotropy constant (Ki) in Co/MgO heterostructure have been studied using ab-initio density functional calculations. It is found that interfacial Co spin magnetic moment shows a strong interdependence on Co-O bond lengths and a reasonable spin-polarization of ~80% is established as a function of Co layers. Our results revealed a saturated positive (out-of-plane) Ki of +2.80 mJ/m2 at ≥12 Co layers (~1.6 nm Co thickness), which is associated with orbital magnetic moment difference in [100] and [001] direction along with a strong hybridization between dxy and dx2?y2 orbitals through orbital angular momentum operator Lz?. Furthermore, it is shown that the Ki magnitude almost remains constant and weakens in the case of under- and over-oxidations in the interfacial MgO and Co layers, respectively. Interestingly, Ki improved for oxygen migrated interface due to enhanced dxy and dx2?y2 orbitals coupling. The disordered interfaces stability is checked by analyzing the formation energy. Hence, the present findings disclose that the higher Co thickness in ordered Co/MgO structure supports to out-of-plane [001] (positive) Ki, which could be useful for its technological implementation in high-density magnetic data storage devices with high thermal stability.  相似文献

The laser short pulse heating initiates nonequilibrium heating of the substrate material, which in turn results in the thermal stresses developing in the region below the surface. The surface temperature can be measured possibly through the monitoring of the resulting surface displacement. This requires in detail investigation into the surface displacement and surface temperature rises across the heated spot during the laser short pulse heating process. In the present study, the laser short pulse heating of gold surface is considered and the temperature rise at the surface and elastic displacement of the surface are investigated. The spatial and temporal distributions of surface displacement and surface temperature are predicted and the elastic response of the substrate material due to temperature rise is explored. It is found that the temporal and spatial distributions of the surface displacement do not follow the temperature rise at the surface. Consequently, care should be taken when measuring the temperature rise at the surface by means of monitoring the surface displacement during a laser short pulse heating process.  相似文献

In this paper, we have analyzed the signal processing methods both in digital and optical domain to enhance the transmission performance of downstream signalling in long reach passive optical networks (LR-PONs). The impact of non-linear (NL) equalization through signal processing, i.e. Volterra Equalization (VE), Digital Backpropagation (BP) and Optical Phase Conjugation with Non-linearity Module (OPC-NM) is investigated, in 10 Gbit/s (XG) DP-QPSK long-reach wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) PONs without midspan repeaters over 120 km standard single mode fibre (SMF) link for down-stream signals. Due to the compensation of optical Kerr effects, the sensitivity penalty is reduced to 2 dB by BP algorithm, 1.5 dB by VE algorithm and 2.69 dB by OPC-NM. Moreover, with the implementation of NL equalization technique we are able to get the transmission distance of 126.6 km SMF for the 1:1024 split-ratio at 5 GHz channel spacing in the non-linear region. Furthermore, the concept of super passive optical network (S-PON) is also evaluated, which involves a repeater stage consisting of optical amplifiers, to study the feasibility for receiver side signal processing and simplification.  相似文献
