This paper presents an extensive study on the dependence of the mean number of the fast fragment of the target nucleus n
g on the incident beam energy in proton-nucleus interaction in emulsion in the range 6·2E
0400 GeV/c. It has been observed that n
g decreases in the range 6·2E
0200 GeV/c, then increases and attains an approximately steady value up to 400 GeV/c. Birefringent filters can be used for tuning lasers, with some advantages over prisms, gratings and tilted etalons. In this paper the transmission characteristics of a new mixed birefringent filter are investigated. The term ‘mixed’ is used because both circular birefringence and linear birefringence have been utilized in the fabrication of this filter.It has a loss-less core, formed by a cascaded system of alternate rotators and retarders, and a linear polarizer at each end. The performance of this filter is better because of the more effective suppression of side peaks. Unlike previous birefringent filters, this one may be used inside a linear resonator. 相似文献

We study energy exchange models with dissipation (λ) and noise (of amplitude σ) and show that in presence of a threshold these models undergo an absorbing phase transition when either dissipation or noise strength or both are varied. Using Monte Carlo simulations we find that the behaviour along the critical line, which separates the active phase from the absorbing one, belongs to directed percolation (DP) universality class. We claim that the conserved version with λ = 1 and σ = 0 also shows a DP transition; the apparent non-DP behaviour observed earlier is an artifact of undershooting in the decay of activity density starting from a random initial condition. 相似文献

In the method of tapering the cross section of the interaction structure for broadbanding a gyro-TWT, the different portions
of the interaction length of the tapered-cross-section waveguide become effective for different frequency ranges if the magnetic
field and beam parameters are profiled to maintain the condition of electron cyclotron resonance throughout the interaction
length. In the present paper, the study of profiling the magnetic field and beam parameters in steps of the stepped analytical
model of a double-tapered disc-loaded circular waveguide was made throughout the steps of the model. In the observed profile,
the magnetic flux density in a typical step relative to its value in first-step decreases from first-step (gun-end) to end-step
(collector-end) of the model considering the up-tapering schemes, in which structure parameters increase from gun-end to collector-end.
Also, the transverse beam velocity in a typical step relative to its value in first-step decreases from gun-end to collector-end.
However, the Larmor radius in a typical step relative to its value in first-step as well as the hollow-beam radius in a typical
step relative to its value in first-step, both increase from gun-end to collector-end in the model considering the up-tapering

We discuss general features of noise and fluctuations in active polar gels close to and away from equilibrium. We use the
single-component hydrodynamic theory of active polar gels built by Kruse and coworkers to describe the cytoskeleton in cells.
Close to equilibrium, we calculate the response function of the gel to external fields and introduce Langevin forces in the
constitutive equations with correlation functions respecting the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. We then discuss the breakage
of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem due to an external field such as the activity of the motors. Active gels away from
equilibrium are considered at the scaling level. As an example of application of the theory, we calculate the density correlation
function (the dynamic structure factor) of a compressible active polar gel and discuss possible instabilities. 相似文献

The rheology near jamming of a suspension of soft colloidal spheres is studied using a custom microfluidic rheometer that provides the stress versus strain rate over many decades. We find non-Newtonian behavior below the jamming concentration and yield-stress behavior above it. The data may be collapsed onto two branches with critical scaling exponents that agree with expectations based on Hertzian contacts and viscous drag. These results support the conclusion that jamming is similar to a critical phase transition, but with interaction-dependent exponents. 相似文献
