Binary systems are the most studied sources of gravitational waves. The mechanisms of emission and the behavior of the orbital parameters are well known and can be written in analytic form in several cases. Besides, the strongest indication of the existence of gravitational waves has arisen from the observation of binary systems. On the other hand, when the detection of gravitational radiation becomes a reality, one of the observed pattern of the signals will be probably of stochastic background nature, which are characterized by a superposition of signals emitted by many sources around the universe. Our aim here is to develop an alternative method of calculating such backgrounds emitted by cosmological compact binary systems during their periodic or quasiperiodic phases. We use an analogy with a problem of statistical mechanics in order to perform this sum as well as taking into account the temporal variation of the orbital parameters of the systems. Such a kind of background is of particular importance since it could well form an important foreground for the planned gravitational wave interferometers DECI-Hertz Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory (DECIGO), Big Bang Observer (BBO), Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) or Evolved LISA (eLISA), Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (ALIGO), and Einstein Telescope (ET).  相似文献

Acoustical oscillations can induce a rotation of a turbine flow meter in the absence of main flow, which leads to spurious counts. A simplified model is presented which explains the occurrence of spurious counts in the limit of very thin turbine blades and high Strouhal numbers. The predicted threshold for the occurrence of spurious counts is compared to experimentally obtained data at various gas pressures in the range from 1 to 8 bar. The simplified model provides a reasonable prediction of the occurrence of spurious counts and can be used as an useful engineering tool in the prediction of the occurrence of spurious counts.  相似文献

Elastin isolated from fresh bovine ligaments was dissolved in a mixture of 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol and water were electrospun into fiber membranes under different processing conditions. Fiber mats of randomly and aligned fibers were obtained with fixed and rotating ground collectors and fibrils were composed by thin ribbons whose width depends on electrospinning conditions; fibrils with 721 nm up to 2.12 μm width were achieved. After cross-linking with glutaraldehyde, α-elastin can uptake as much as 1700 % of PBS solution and a slight increase on fiber thickness was observed. The glass transition temperature of electrospun fiber mats was found to occur at ~80 °C. Moreover, α-Elastin showed to be a perfect elastomeric material, and no mechanical hysteresis was found in cycle mechanical measurements. The elastic modulus obtained for random and aligned fibers mats in a PBS solution was 330±10 kPa and 732±165 kPa, respectively. Finally, the electrospinning and cross-linking process does not inhibit MC-3T3-E1 cell adhesion. Cell culture results showed good cell adhesion and proliferation in the cross-linked elastin fiber mats.  相似文献

Motivated by the photochemical and photophysical properties of curcumin-based composites, the characteristics of a new curcumin-based water-soluble salt were investigated via absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Photobleaching was investigated using a set of LEDs in three different wavelengths (405 nm, 450 nm and 470 nm) to illuminate an aqueous solution of curcumin, evaluating its degradation for five different exposure times (0, 5, 15, 45 and 105 minutes). The results were compared with equivalent measurements of dark degradation and illumination in the presence of a singlet-oxygen quencher. Three solution concentrations (50, 100 and 150 μg/ml) were studied. To measure the fluorescence, it was used low power 405 nm excitation laser source. Time dependent photodegradation of curcumin was observed, as compared to the natural degradation of samples maintained on a dark environment. Two main absorption peaks were detected and their relation responded to both concentration and wavelength of the illumination source. A spectral correlation between absorption of curcumin and the emission bands of the sources showed an optimal spectral overlap for the 450 nm LED. For this source, photobleaching showed a less intense degradation on the presence of singlet oxygen quencher. This last result confirmed singlet oxygen production in vitro, indicating a strong potential of this composite to be used as a blue-light-activated photosensitizer.  相似文献

We uncover the low-energy spectrum of a t-J model for electrons on a square lattice of spin-1 iron atoms with 3d xz and 3d yz orbital character by applying Schwinger-boson-slave-fermion mean-field theory and by exact diagonalization of one hole roaming over a 4 × 4 × 2 lattice. Hopping matrix elements are set to produce hole bands centered at zero two-dimensional (2D) momentum in the free-electron limit. Holes can propagate coherently in the t-J model below a threshold Hund coupling when long-range antiferromagnetic order across the d + = 3d (x + iy)z and d ? = 3d (x ? iy)z orbitals is established by magnetic frustration that is off-diagonal in the orbital indices. This leads to two hole-pocket Fermi surfaces centered at zero 2D momentum. Proximity to a commensurate spin-density wave (cSDW) that exists above the threshold Hund coupling results in emergent Fermi surface pockets about cSDW momenta at a quantum critical point (QCP). This motivates the introduction of a new Gutzwiller wavefunction for a cSDW metal state. Study of the spin-fluctuation spectrum at cSDW momenta indicates that the dispersion of the nested band of one-particle states that emerges is electron-type. Increasing Hund coupling past the QCP can push the hole-pocket Fermi surfaces centered at zero 2D momentum below the Fermi energy level, in agreement with recent determinations of the electronic structure of mono-layer iron-selenide superconductors.  相似文献

In this note, a partial pole assignment approach is presented for second-order systems with time delay. The method uses the versatile system receptance for designing state-feedback, rank-one controllers for second-order systems with time delay in the measurements or actuation. The stability of the closed-loop system is pursued throughout an optimization problem formulated with basis on the classical frequency domain technique known as the Nyquist stability criterion. Besides the partial pole assignment, robustness measured in terms of phase and gain margins can be achieved using a genetic algorithm to solve the optimization problem. The proposed approach is shown to provide effective solutions for systems with different time delays in the measurements of displacements and velocities, and with singular mass matrix. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the benefits of the approach.

A triangular aperture illuminated with a vortex beam creates a truncated lattice diffraction pattern that identifies the charge of the vortex. In this Letter, we demonstrate the measurement of vortex charge via this approach for vortex beams up to charge ±7. We also demonstrate the use of this technique for measuring femtosecond vortices and noninteger vortices, comparing these results with numerical modeling. It is shown that this technique is simple and reliable, but care must be taken when interpreting the results for the noninteger case.  相似文献

Well-rounded lattices have been considered in coding theory, in approaches to MIMO, and SISO wiretap channels. Algebraic lattices have been used to obtain dense lattices and in applications to Rayleigh fading channels. Recent works study the relation between well-rounded lattices and algebraic lattices, mainly in dimension two. In this article we present a construction of well-rounded algebraic lattices in Euclidean spaces of odd prime dimension. We prove that for each Abelian number field of odd prime degree having squarefree conductor, there exists a $${\mathbb {Z}}$$ -module M such that the canonical embedding applied to M produces a well-rounded lattice. It is also shown that for each odd prime dimension there are infinitely many non-equivalent well-rounded algebraic lattices, with high indexes as sublattices of other algebraic lattices.  相似文献
