Nanocrystalline zirconium oxide was synthesized by hydrothermal treatment of ZrO(NO3)2 and ZrOCl2 aqueous solutions at different temperatures and time in presence of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrothermal treatment of zirconium salts (0.25 and 0.50 mol L?1) produced nanocrystalline monoclinic ZrO2 powders with narrow size distribution, which were formed by the attachment of the smaller particles with crystallites size of 3.5 nm, estimated by means of the Scherrer’s equation and confirmed by transmission electronic microscopy. Typical monoclinic zirconium oxide X-ray powder diffraction patterns and Raman spectra were obtained for all the crystalline powders. It was observed that the crystallization depends strongly on the temperature, resulting in amorphous material when the synthesis was realized at 100 °C, and crystalline with monoclinic phase when synthesized at 110 °C, independently of the salt used. Zirconium oxide colloidal nanoparticles were formed only at hydrothermal treatments longer than 24 h. The stability of the colloids was successfully characterized of zeta potential, showing an initial value of + 59.2 mV in acid media and isoelectric point at pH = 5.2, in good agreement with previous studies.  相似文献

This article describes a comparison of conventional energy‐dispersive X‐ray fluorescence (EDXRF) and synchrotron radiation total‐reflection X‐ray fluorescence (SRTXRF) for Co determination in ruminal fluid from Holstein cow. This element is used as marker for animal nutrition studies. For EDXRF, 200 µl of the sample were dried on 6.35 µm Mylar film at 60 °C. The excitation was carried out using an X‐ray tube with Mo target and Zr filter operated at 30 kV/20 mA. For SRTXRF, 10 µl of the sample were pipetted on a Lucite carrier and dried at 60 °C. In both the techniques, Ga was used as internal standard and the acquisition time was 200 s. The trueness of both techniques was evaluated through the standard addition method, the recoveries obtained by SRTXRF and EDXRF were 76 and 99%, and the limits of detection, 13 and 240 µg l?1, respectively. A microfluidic method to manipulate small drops of water is studied on two different superhydrophobic surfaces. Using this digital magnetofluidic method, water drops containing paramagnetic carbonyl-iron microparticles were displaced on silicon nanowire (Si NW) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) superhydrophobic surfaces using magnetic fields. Horizontal, vertical, or upside-down drop movement is made possible by the action of capillary forces induced by paramagnetic particles aligning and following a magnetic field, indicating that three-dimensional digital microfluidics is possible. Also, both Si NW and LDPE superhydrophobic surfaces combine surface chemistry with nano and microscale surface roughness to make drop movement possible. Si NW superhydrophobic surfaces were prepared using vapor-liquid-solid growth systems followed by coating with a perfluorinated hydrocarbon. LDPE superhydrophobic surfaces were prepared by growing polyethylene crystals on a polyethylene substrate through careful rate control.  相似文献

The purpose of the present article is to extend the scope of some investigations about abstract logics arising quite naturally out of Quasi-MV algebras (for short, qMV algebras) also to ?{}\sqrt{^{\prime}} qMV algebras. We will therefore introduce, mutually compare and (in some cases) axiomatise several logics arising out of the variety of ?{}\sqrt{^{\prime}} qMV algebras and out of some important subclasses of such. We study the intermittency properties of two branching processes, one with a uniform and another with a singular splitting kernel. The asymptotic intermittency indices, as well as the leading corrections to the asymptotic linear regime are explicitly computed in an analytic framework. Both models are found to possess a monofractal spectrum with ? q =q ? 1 and inverse logarithmic corrections. Relations with previous results are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

An experimental study of laminar steady-state natural convection heat transfer from electrically heated vertical cylinders immersed in air has been undertaken. Three stainless steel (316 SS) test sections of different slenderness ratios were employed. Surface temperature profiles along the vertical cylinders were obtained using miniature thermocouples when the cylinders were heated with different power levels resulting in different total wall heat fluxes. After the mandatory corrections for the radiation heat fluxes were made, three correlation equations relating the local Nusselt number Nuy with the local modified Rayleigh number Ra* y and the position-to-cylinder diameter y/d were developed. The correlation equations are valid for Ra* y ≤ 2 × 1012.  相似文献

High pressure processing (HPP) has been shown to reduce microbial concentration in foods. The mechanisms of microbial inactivation by HPP have been associated with damage to cell membranes. The real-time response of bacteria to HPP was measured to elucidate the mechanisms of inactivation, which can aid in designing more effective processes. Different pressure cycling conditions were used to expose Enterobacter aerogenes cells to HPP. Propidium iodide (PI) was used as a probe, which fluoresces after penetrating cells with damaged membranes and binding with nucleic acids. A HPP vessel with sapphire windows was used for measuring fluorescence in situ. Membrane damage was detected during pressurization and hold time, but not during depressurization. The drop in fluorescence was larger than expected after pressure cycles at higher pressure and longer times. This indicated possible reversible disassociation of ribosomes resulting in additional binding of PI to exposed RNA under pressure and its release after depressurization.  相似文献

The need of alternative “green” energy sources has recently renewed the interest in thermoelectric (TE) materials, which can directly convert heat to electricity or, conversely, electric current to cooling. The thermoelectric performance of a material can be estimated by the so-called figure of merit, zT = σ α 2 T/λ (α the Seebeck coefficient, σ α 2 the power factor, σ and λ the electrical and thermal conductivity, respectively), that depends only on the material. In the middle 1990s the “phonon glass and electron crystal” concept was developed, which, together with a better understanding of the parameters that affect zT and the use of new synthesis methods and characterization techniques, has led to the discovery of improved bulk thermoelectric materials that start being implemented in applications. During last decades, special focus has been made on skutterudites, clathrates, half-Heusler alloys, Si1?x Ge x-, Bi2Te3- and PbTe-based materials. However, many other materials, in particular based on intermetallics, pnictides, chalcogenides, oxides, etc. are now emerging as potential advanced bulk thermoelectrics. Herein we discuss the current understanding in this field, with special emphasis on the strategies to reduce the lattice part of the thermal conductivity and maximize the power factor, and review those new potential thermoelectric bulk materials, in particular based on intermetallics, pnictides and chalcogenides. A final chapter, discussing different shaping techniques leading to bulk materials (eventually from nanostructured TE materials), is also included.  相似文献

The macrophage time-dependent metabolic profile changing basal metabolism triggered by nanoparticles can be obtained and used to improve wound healing treatments. Herein this study demonstrates that metabolic status responds systematically to cytotoxicity manipulation, providing an interesting way of cellular control. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) based metabolomics and cytotoxic assays are used to study RAW 264.7 cells exposed to AgNPs at different concentrations and incubation times. Cytotoxicity data show a slight decrease in cellular expansion rates accompanied by morphological changes in cells. Metabolomics show that despite the glycolytic activity of treated and non-treated cells remains unchanged; however, only the treated cells present a rich Citrate environment signaling up-regulation of Tricarboxylic-Acid-Cycle (TCA). Cells choose aerobic routes instead of anaerobic ones to produce energy and self-regulate their amino acid metabolism to balance TCA. Choline metabolism is down-regulated once its sub-products, Betaine and Glycine, are reduced, thus compromising Creatine synthesis. Phospholipid metabolism is down-regulated due to the decreasing of Phosphocholine and Sn-Glycerol-3-PC, in agreement with the cytotoxicity results. Pyroglutamate decreases in treated cells, signaling different levels of oxidative stress. These analytical tools can characterize AgNPs-treatments, even distinguishing dose and time dependencies. Therefore, the fine-tuning of exposition parameters can modulate cellular activity to achieve better wound healing.  相似文献

The electric field alignment of substitutional CN- molecules in KCl crystals was studied by measurements of the field-induced optical birefringence (Kerr-effect). The electric field, temperature, wavelength and concentration dependence of the Kerr-effect and its pronounced anisotropy is found in quantitative agreement with a paraelectric alignment model for 〈111〉 oriented CN- molecules, which have electronic absorption transitions hidden under the fundamental crystal absorption, and are characterized by an anisotropic polarizability of α6 ? α = 1.60 A?3.  相似文献
