This work presents the theoretical calculation of isotherm diagrams for quaternary alloys of III–V semiconductor compounds with the form IIIxIII1−xVyV1−y. In particular, the isotherm diagrams for the AlxGa1−xAsySb1−y quaternary alloy at low temperatures were calculated (500 °C, 450 °C, 400 °C, and 350 °C). The AlxGa1−xAsySb1−y quaternary alloy was formed from four binary compounds such as GaAs, AlAs, AlSb, and GaSb, all with direct bandgaps. The regular solution approximation was used to find the quaternary isotherm diagrams, represented in four linearly independent equations, which were solved using Parametric Technology Corporation Mathcad 14.0 software for different arsenic and antimony atomic fractions. The results support the possible growth of layers via liquid-phase epitaxy in a range of temperatures from 500 °C to 350 °C, where the crystalline quality could be improved at low temperatures. These semiconductor layers could have applications for optoelectronic devices in photonic communications, thermophotovoltaic systems, and microwave devices with good crystalline quality. 相似文献

The study of the bioavailability of bioactive compounds is a fundamental step for the development of applications based on them, such as nutraceuticals, functional foods or cosmeceuticals. It is well-known that these compounds can undergo metabolic reactions before reaching therapeutic targets, which may also affect their bioactivity and possible applications. All recent studies that have focused on bioavailability and metabolism of phenolic and terpenoid compounds have been developed because of the advances in analytical chemistry and metabolomics approaches. The purpose of this review is to show the role of analytical chemistry and metabolomics in this field of knowledge. In this context, the different steps of the analytical chemistry workflow (design study, sample treatment, analytical techniques and data processing) applied in bioavailability and metabolism in vivo studies are detailed, as well as the most relevant results obtained from them. 相似文献

A new series of aryloxyacetic acids was prepared and tested as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) agonists and fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitors. Some compounds exhibited an interesting dual activity that has been recently proposed as a new potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). AD is a multifactorial pathology, hence multi-target agents are currently one of the main lines of research for the therapy and prevention of this disease. Given that cholinesterases represent one of the most common targets of recent research, we decided to also evaluate the effects of our compounds on the inhibition of these specific enzymes. Interestingly, two of these compounds, (S)-5 and 6, showed moderate activity against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and even some activity, although at high concentration, against Aβ peptide aggregation, thus demonstrating, in agreement with the preliminary dockings carried out on the different targets, the feasibility of a simultaneous multi-target activity towards PPARs, FAAH, and AChE. As far as we know, these are the first examples of molecules endowed with this pharmacological profile that might represent a promising line of research for the identification of novel candidates for the treatment of AD. 相似文献

Vitamin D (VD) is a calcium- and phosphate-controlling hormone used to treat bone disorders; yet, several other effects are progressively emerging. VD deficiency is highly prevalent worldwide, with suboptimal exposure to sunlight listed among the leading causes: oral supplementation with either cholecalciferol or calcitriol is used. However, there is a scarcity of clinical studies investigating how quickly VD concentrations can increase after supplementation. In this pilot study, the commercial supplement ImmuD3 (by Erboristeria Magentina®) was chosen as the source of VD and 2000 IU/day was administered for one month to 21 healthy volunteers that had not taken any other VD supplements in the previous 30 days. Plasma VD levels were measured through liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry after 7, 14, and 28 days of supplementation. We found that 95% of the participants had insufficient VD levels at baseline (<30 ng/mL; median 23.72 ng/mL; IQR 18.10–26.15), but after 28 days of supplementation, this percentage dropped to 62% (median 28.35 ng/mL; IQR 25.78–35.20). The median increase in VD level was 3.09 ng/mL (IQR 1.60–5.68) after 7 days and 8.85 ng/mL (IQR 2.85–13.97F) after 28 days. This study suggests the need for continuing VD supplementation and for measuring target level attainment. 相似文献

Different advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) (ultraviolet radiation, hydrogen peroxide photolysis and photo-Fenton) were applied to test the degradation of terbuthylazine in three types of water: (a) ultrapure water, (b) surface water from the Gaditana area (Los Hurones reservoir, Cádiz, Spain) and (c) groundwater from the Tempul spring in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz, Spain). The experiments were carried out on a laboratory scale, using two different types of reactors, batch and semi-continuous. In batch reactors, the most efficient process for the experiments carried out with both ultrapure water and underground groundwater was ultraviolet radiation, whereas for surface water from the Gaditana area, the process that obtained the best results was the photolysis of hydrogen peroxide with 2.5 mg L−1 of H2O2. In semi-continuous reactors, the most efficient process was the photolysis of hydrogen peroxide with 2.5 mg L−1 of H2O2 for all the matrices studied. In both types of reactors, terbuthylazine degradation percentages higher than 90% were achieved; the main difference was in the reaction time, which varied from minutes in the batch reactor to seconds in the semi-continuous reactor. Water decontamination is an important challenge resulting from the incorrect disposal of heavy metal waste into the environment. Among the different available techniques (e.g., filtration, coagulation, precipitation, and ion-exchange), adsorption is considered the cheapest and most effective procedure for the removal of water pollutants. In the last years, several materials have been tested for the removal of heavy metals from water, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), and graphene oxide (GO). Nevertheless, their powder consistency, which makes the recovery and reuse after adsorption difficult, is the main drawback for these materials. More recently, SWCNT buckypapers (SWCNT BPs) have been proposed as self-standing porous membranes for filtration and adsorption processes. In this paper, the adsorption capacity and selectivity of Pb2+ (both from neat solutions and in the presence of other interferents) by SWCNT BPs were evaluated as a function of the increasing amount of GO used in their preparation (GO-SWCNT buckypapers). The highest adsorption capacity, 479 ± 25 mg g−1, achieved for GO-SWCNT buckypapers with 75 wt.% of graphene oxide confirmed the effective application of such materials for cheap and fast water decontamination from lead. 相似文献

The recently developed Classical Stochastic Diffusion Theory is applied to obtain the coverage dependence of desorption rates for Xe on W(111). Using the attractive Xe-Xe potential from gas phase experiments, we find a strong coverage dependence in the desorption rates and calculate Temperature Programmed Desorption Spectra (for a potential with reduced attractiveness) that are in excellent qualitative agreement with experimental results. We also investigated the effect of purely repulsive adsorbate-adsorbate interactions where we find, for some coverage ranges, that two different adsorption configurations can be stable (at different temperatures) leading to a marked change in the corresponding desorption rates and to distinct non-Arrhenius behavior. 相似文献
