A series of discrete compounds and supramolecular polymers were synthesized by self-assembly of dithioether building blocks and HAuCl4.3H2O. In complexes 1 {[AuL(1-Me)Cl], where L(1-Me) is bis(methylthio)methane} and 2 {[Au2L(2-Ph)Cl2], where L(2-Ph) is 1,2-bis(phenylthio)ethane}, adjacent units are connected via aurophilic interactions. Complex 1, a one-dimensional (1D) supramolecular polymer, and complex 2, a two-dimensional supramolecular network, both feature nearly linear [Au-Au-](infinity) chains. Complexes 4a, 4b, and 4c, all of which contain 1,3-bis(phenylthio)propane (L(3-Ph)), are polymorphs having the composition [Au2L(3-Ph)Cl2]. Complex 3 {[Au2L(1-Ph)Cl2], where L(1-Ph) is bis(phenylthio)methane}and complexes 4a and 4b consist of nearly identical 1D supramolecular polymers formed through Au-Au interactions. The third polymorph, 4c, is a molecular complex, as it does not have metal-metal interactions. Complex 5 {[Au2L(4-Ph)Cl2], where L(4-Ph) is 1,4-bis(phenylthio)butane} is also molecular. UV-vis spectra showed that the absorption bands of these complexes are allowed ligand-centered transitions between 230 and 260 nm. Complexes 1, 2, and 6 {[AuL(3-Me)Cl], where L(3-Me) is 1,3-bis(methylthio)propane} exhibited solid-state luminescence at 5 K with vibronic progressions and band maxima at approximately 570 nm. It is suggested that complex 6 contains [Au-Au-](infinity) chains.  相似文献

The oxidation pathways of methanol (MeOH) have been the subject of intense research due to its possible application as a liquid fuel in polyelectrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The design of improved catalysts for MeOH oxidation requires a deep understanding of these complex oxidation pathways. This paper will provide a discussion of the literature concerning the extensive research carried out in acidic and alkaline electrolytes. It will highlight techniques that have proven useful in the determination of product ratios, analysis of surface poisoning, anion adsorption, and oxide formation processes, in addition to the effects of temperature on the MeOH oxidation pathways at bulk polycrystalline platinum (Pt(poly)) electrodes. This discussion will provide a framework with which to begin the analysis of activation energy (E(a)) values. This kinetic parameter may prove useful in characterizing the rate-limiting step of the MeOH oxidation at an electrode surface. This paper will present a procedure for the determination of E(a) values for MeOH oxidation at a Pt(poly) electrode in acidic and alkaline media. Values from 24-76 kJ mol(-1) in acidic media and from 36-86 kJ mol(-1) in alkaline media were calculated and found to be a function of applied potential and direction of the potential sweep in a voltammetric experiment. Factors that influence the magnitude of the calculated E(a) include surface poisoning from MeOH oxidation intermediates, anion adsorption from the electrolyte, pH effects, and oxide formation processes. These factors are all potential, and temperature, dependent and must clearly be addressed when citing E(a) values in the literature. Comparison of E(a) values must be between systems of comparable electrochemical environment and at the same potential. E(a) values obtained on bulk Pt(poly), compared with other catalysts, may give insight into the superiority of other Pt-based catalysts for MeOH oxidation and lead to the development of new catalysts which lower the E(a) barrier at a given potential, thus driving MeOH oxidation to completion.  相似文献

Methylmalonyl-coenzyme A mutase (MCM) is a 5'-deoxyadenosylcobalamin-linked mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the isomerization of L-methylmalonyl-coenzyme A to succinyl-coenzyme A. We described a method for methylmalonyl-CoA and succinyl-CoA separation by CE, suitable for the evaluation of MCM activity. The working conditions for optimal separation were obtained in order to achieve the best resolution in the shortest analysis time. The optimization of buffer composition together with other variables, such as injection time, separation voltage, migration time, and capillary temperature, resulted in a solution of 30 mM NaH2PO4 containing 15 mM SDS, pH 3.2. Separations were carried out in an uncoated fused-silica capillary (55 cm, 50 microm id) at -25 kV, reading at 254 nm. The method performance was evaluated by measuring total and holo-MCM activity in biological matrices such as rat liver and human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL). The mean MCM activity was expressed in nmol/h/mg protein of tissue/cell extract and was calculated from the amount of reaction product formed. The rapidity of analysis and utmost precision (repeatability and within-laboratory reproducibility) point out the potentialities of the proposed method for the differential diagnosis of methylmalonic acidemia, in relation to protein or coenzyme defects.  相似文献

The complex between distamycin A and the parallel DNA quadruplex [d(TGGGGT)]4 has been studied by 1H NMR spectroscopy and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC). To unambiguously assert that distamycin A interacts with the grooves of the quadruplex [d(TGGGGT)]4, we have analyzed the NMR titration profile of a modified quadruplex, namely [d(TGGMeGGT)]4, and we have applied the recently developed differential frequency-saturation transfer difference (DF-STD) method, for assessing the ligand-DNA binding mode. The three-dimensional structure of the 4:1 distamycin A/[d(TGGGGT)]4 complex has been determined by an in-depth NMR study followed by dynamics and mechanics calculations. All results unequivocally indicate that distamycin molecules interact with [d(TGGGGT)]4 in a 4:1 binding mode, with two antiparallel distamycin dimers that bind simultaneously two opposite grooves of the quadruplex. The affinity between distamycin A and [d(TGGGGT)]4 enhances ( approximately 10-fold) when the ratio of distamycin A to the quadruplex is increased. In this paper we report the first three-dimensional structure of a groove-binder molecule complexed to a DNA quadruplex structure.  相似文献

Efficient ditopic receptors for quaternary ammonium and iminium salts have been obtained upon functionalization of the uranyl-salophen unit with conformationally flexible side arms bearing phenyl or beta-naphthyl substituents. Binding affinities in chloroform solution have been measured for a large number of quaternary salts comprising tetramethylammonium (TMA), tetrabutylammonium (TBA), acetylcholine (ACh), N-methylpyridinium (NMP), and N-methylisoquinolinium (NmiQ) cations. Recognition of the anion partner is ensured by coordination to the hard Lewis acidic uranyl center, whereas cation-pi/CH-pi interactions of the quaternary ions are established with the aromatic pendants. The role of the cation-anion interactions on the dynamics of exchange between the free and complexed species is discussed. Solid-state structures have been obtained for a few salt-receptor combinations. In the solid state, side-armed receptor molecules form assemblies that enclose ion pair aggregates of varying composition and structure, including AChCl dimers, two different kinds of tetrameric (TMA)Cl clusters, and unidimentional salt strips of (NMP)Br. The lack of side arms as preferential binding sites for the polar quaternary cations prevents association patterns of the kinds formed with the side-armed receptors, as shown by the crystal structure of the complex of (TMA)Cl with the parent uranyl-salophen receptor.  相似文献

Laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LDI–TOF MS) was used to characterize olive and sunflower oils before and after thermally assisted oxidation in order to develop a rapid fingerprinting method for oil that contains unchanged and oxidized components. No matrix was used to assist laser desorption, and simplified mass spectra were obtained in the mass range of interest (m/z 500–1000), where triacyl- and diacylglycerol ions were observed. Sample preparation was reduced to dissolving oil in chloroform saturated with NaCl. Sodiated triacylglycerols (TAGs), their epoxy/hydroxy and hydroperoxy derivatives, as well as TAGs with shortened chain fatty acids (β-scission products) were clearly observed in the spectra. LDI–TOF MS rapidly provides semiquantitative information about the oxidation level of edible oil, and thus represents a very useful quality control tool. Mild activation of water-soluble naphthalene diimides (NDIs) as bisalkylating agents has been achieved by base catalysis and by chemical and electrochemical reductions. NDI activation by a single electron reduction represents a novelty in the field of activatable electrophiles. Under mild reduction, induced by S2O4(2-) in aqueous solution, the resulting NDI radical anion (NDI*-) undergoes a monomolecular fragmentation to yield a new transient species, where the NDI radical anion is tethered to a quinone methide moiety. The latter still retains electrophilic properties, reacting with amines, thiols, and ethyl vinyl ether. Owing to the NDI recognition properties, these results represent the first step toward selective and bioactivatable cross-linking agents.  相似文献

The keto-enol tautomerism of 2-nitrocyclohexanone (2-NCH) was studied in aqueous solution under different experimental conditions. Ketonization rate constants were measured spectrophotometrically at 25 degrees C at an ionic strength of 0.4 mol dm-3 (NaCl) in diluted hydrochloric acid, in diluted sodium hydroxide, and in several buffers by using NaHSO3 as the scavenger of the keto form. A value of pK(a)(EH) = 4.78 for the enol form was obtained from the rate-pH profile of the reaction. A value of pK(a)(KH) = 5.97 for the keto form was directly obtained from the UV-vis spectra of 2-NCH recorded at different pHs. The equilibrium constant for the keto-enol tautomerism, pK(T) = -log([enol]/[ketone]) = 1.19, was obtained by combining the two pKa values (pK(T) = pK(a)(KH) - pK(a)(EH)). A comparison of these results with the corresponding values (Keefe, J. R.; Kresge, A. J. In The Chemistry of Enols; Rappoport, Z., Ed.; Wiley & Sons: New York, 1990; pp 399-480) for cyclohexanone shows the dramatic effects of an alpha-nitro substituent on the keto-enol acidities and the tautomerization constant of alicyclic ketones. Rates and equilibria were discussed in the light of the Br?nsted equation, the principle of nonperfect synchronization, and the Marcus theory. It turns out that, on passing from nitroalkanes to nitroketones, the resonance contribution to pKa and deprotonation rate decreases, being overwhelmed by steric and inductive effects.  相似文献

This paper describes the adsorption and spreading of beta-cyclodextrin (CD) vesicles on hydrophobic and hydrophilic substrates, which involves a transition from bilayer vesicles to planar molecular monolayers or bilayers. On substrates that are patterned with self-assembled monolayers by microcontact printing (muCP), the CD vesicles preferentially adsorb on hydrophobic areas instead of hydrophilic (nonionic) areas, and on cationic areas instead of hydrophilic (nonionic) areas. Supported monolayers of amphiphilic cyclodextrins CD1 and CD2 were obtained by adsorption of CD vesicles to hydrophobic substrates, and supported bilayers of amphiphilic cyclodextrins CD1 and CD2 were prepared by adsorption of CD vesicles on cationic substrates. Contact angle goniometry, atomic force microscopy and confocal fluorescence microscopy (CFM) were used to analyze the supported CD layers. The fluidity of the supported CD layers was verified using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching experiments. The supported layers function as a supramolecular platform that can bind suitable guest molecules through inclusion in the CD host cavities. Additionally, the CD host layers were patterned with fluorescent guest molecules by supramolecular muCP on the supported CD layers. The host-guest interactions were investigated with CFM and fluorescence resonance energy transfer experiments.  相似文献

A biliaison theory for rank two reflexive sheaves on projective 3 - space is established, In analogy with the existing theory for curves and, more generally, for 2 - codimensional subschemes of projective n - space. By definition two such sheaves are in the same biliaison class if their first cohomology modules are isomorphic. A parametrization of these classes is given. It is then shown that any class not corresponding to the zero module has a structure described by the Lazarsfeld - Rao property. In particular, it is shown that vector bundles are precisely the minimal elements (in the of the LR - property) in their biliaison classes.  相似文献
