Abstract

This report details the synthesis and characterization of six new Mn(II) complexes coordinated to systematically varied 2,2',2''-nitrilotris(N-arylacetamidate) ligands (LR; R?=?NO2, Cl, Br, H, Me, and OMe). The complexes are synthesized as the di-tetramethylammonium salts [Me4N]2[MnLR(OAc)]. The nitro variant MnNO2 afforded crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction and its molecular structure is reported. We previously reported the crystal structures of FeNO2 and ZnNO2 and additionally report herein the synthesis and characterization of CoNO2. Using these four molecules, we conduct a brief comparison of the bond metrics to demonstrate that the primary difference governing structural changes is likely due to ionic crystal radii changes rather than electronic properties. The electrochemical properties of the MnR complexes were additionally explored with cyclic voltammetry, which revealed that the series is modulated by the various electronic substituents on the aryl groups of the ligands. The electrochemical studies also revealed, consistent with our previous report, that the acetate ligand on the MnR complexes is labile. Finally, a Hammett plot was constructed using the potentials obtained from cyclic voltammetry, which is compared with a few other similar transition metal complexes.  相似文献

In our screening for photosensitizers from natural resources, 15(1)-hydroxypurpurin-7-lactone ethyl methyl diester (compound 1) was isolated for the first time from an Araceae plant. To evaluate the efficacy of compound 1 as a photosensitizer for head and neck cancers, compound 1 was studied in reference to a known photosensitizer pheophorbide-a (Pha), in terms of photophysical properties, singlet oxygen generation and in in vitro experiments (intracellular uptake and phototoxicity assays) in two oral (HSC2 and HSC3) and two nasopharyngeal (HK1 and C666-1) cancer cell lines. In this study, compound 1 exhibited higher intracellular uptake over 24 h compared with Pha in both HSC3 and HK1 cells. When activated by ≥4.8 J cm(-2) of light, compound 1 was slightly more potent as a photosensitizer than Pha by consistently having marginally lower IC(50) values across different cell lines. In flow cytometry experiments to study the mechanism of photoactivated cell death in HSC3, compound 1 was observed to induce more pronounced apoptosis compared with Pha, which may have been driven by the transient G(2)/M cell cycle block which was also observed. These promising results on compound 1 warrant its further investigation as a clinically useful photodynamic therapy agent for head and neck cancer.  相似文献

Two new silver-antimony sulfides, [C(2)H(9)N(2)][Ag(2)SbS(3)] (1) and [C(2)H(9)N(2)](2)[Ag(5)Sb(3)S(8)] (2), have been prepared solvothermally in the presence of ethylenediamine and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, and elemental analysis. Compound 1 crystallizes in the space group Pn (a = 6.1781(1) A, b =11.9491(3) A, c = 6.9239(2) A, beta =111.164(1) degrees ) and 2 in the space group Pm (a = 6.2215(2) A, b = 15.7707(7) A, c = 11.6478(5) A, beta = 92.645(2) degrees ). The structure of 1 consists of chains of fused five-membered Ag(2)SbS(2) rings linked to form layers, between which the template molecules reside. Compound 2 contains honeycomb-like sheets of fused silver-antimony-sulfide six-membered rings linked to form double layers. The idealized structure can be considered to be an ordered defect derivative of that of lithium bismuthide, Li(3)Bi, and represents a new solid-state structure type.  相似文献

The synthesis, structure, and electronic properties of a series of cross-conjugated p-phenylenevinylidene oligomers with one to four double bonds are reported. The X-ray crystal structure of the compound with two double bonds reveals a nonplanar conformation with torsion angles about the C(phenylene)-C(vinylidene) and C(phenyl)-C(vinylidene) formal single bonds of 39.5(2) degrees and 30.5(2) degrees, respectively. Admixture of quinoid character in the ground state is observed. Infrared and Raman spectroscopy do not provide a clear picture of the degree of electron delocalization in the series, since the C=C stretching mode does not adequately reflect the C=C bond order and has a local nature. In contrast, electronic spectra and electrochemical data, as well as AM1 and PPP/SCF calculations, reveal that the cross-conjugated compounds basically behave as linearly pi-conjugated systems in the sense that molecular orbitals are delocalized over the entire structure and systematically change in energy. The electronic interaction between the repeating units is, however, not very strong, which has the consequence that spatial extension of the molecular orbitals does not lead to a red shift of the highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) electronic transition. This is related to the feature that the modest narrowing of the HOMO-LUMO gap with the chain length is accompanied by a relatively large reduction of electron repulsion. This finding implies that care should be taken in the use of electronic spectra for the evaluation of conjugation phenomena.  相似文献

The kinetics of the reaction of tetracobalt dodecacarbonyl with carbon monoxide to form dicobalt octacarbonyl in n-hexane have been investigated over a wide range of temperature and CO pressure. The reaction is first order in [Co4(CO)12]; the order in [CO] changes between one (at low pressures and high temperatures) and two (at high pressures and low temperatures).Activation parameters have been estimated and a mechanism involving initial reversible breaking of one CoCo bond, followed by irreversible breaking of a second, is proposed. The first step involves concerted addition of CO while the second can proceed with or without such addition.  相似文献

Dieckmann ring closure reactions of 4-[(2-cyanoethyl)substituted amino]-2-phenyl-5-pyrimidinecarboxylates (Ha-f) afforded several 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5-oxo-2-phenylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6- carbonitriles (IIIa-f). The open-chain intermediates (IIa-f) were prepared by dechloroamination of 5-carbethoxy-4-chloro-2-phenylpyrimidine (1a) with several 3-substituted amino- propionitriles. Alkylation of the sodium salt of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-8-methyl-5-oxo-2-phenyl-pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6- carbonitrile (IIIa) with methyl iodide in DMF resulted in methylation at C-6 to afford IV. Tosylation of IIIa in pyridine gave the corresponding tosyl ester (V) of the enolic form. Oxidative dehydrogenation at the 6,7-position resulted when IIIa reacted with thionyl chloride, affording 5,8-dihydro-8-methyl-5-oxo-2-phenylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6- carbonitrile (VII). Dechloroamination of la or 5-carbethoxy-4-chloro-2-methylthiopyrimidine (Ib) with ethyl 3-ethylaminopropionate followed by Dieckmann cyclization of the resulting open-chain intermediates gave the corresponding ethyl 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5-oxopyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylates IX'a and IX'b, respectively. These exist predominately in the enol form and undergo alkylation and oxidation reactions similar to IIIa.  相似文献

Several 2‐alkylquinolizinium‐1‐olates 9 , i.e., heterobetaines, were prepared from ketone 11 , the latter being readily available either from pyridine‐2‐carbaldehyde via a Grignard reaction, followed by oxidation with MnO2, or from 2‐picolinic acid (=pyridine‐2‐carboxylic acid) via the corresponding Weinreb amide and subsequent Grignard reaction. Mesoionic heterobetaines such as quinolizinium derivatives have the potential to undergo cycloaddition reactions with double and triple bonds, e.g., 1,3‐dipolar cycloadditions or Diels? Alder reactions. We here report on the scope and limitations of cycloaddition reactions of 2‐alkylquinolizinium‐1‐olates 9 with electron‐poor acetylene derivatives. As main products of the reaction, 5‐oxopyrrolo[2,1,5‐de]quinolizines (=‘[2.3.3]cyclazin‐5‐ones’) 19 were formed via a regioselective [2+3] cycloaddition, and cyclohexadienone derivatives, formed via a Diels? Alder reaction, were obtained as side products. The structures of 2‐benzylquinolizinium‐1‐olate ( 9a ) and two ‘[2.3.3]cyclazin‐5‐ones’ 19i and 19l were established by X‐ray crystallography.  相似文献

The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is a fundamental process in electrocatalysis and plays an important role in energy conversion for the development of hydrogen‐based energy sources. However, the considerably slow rate of the HER in alkaline conditions has hindered advances in water splitting techniques for high‐purity hydrogen production. Differing from well documented acidic HER, the mechanistic aspects of alkaline HER are yet to be settled. A critical appraisal of alkaline HER electrocatalysis is presented, with a special emphasis on the connection between fundamental surface electrochemistry on single‐crystal models and the derived molecular design principle for real‐world electrocatalysts. By presenting some typical examples across theoretical calculations, surface characterization, and electrochemical experiments, we try to address some key ongoing debates to deliver a better understanding of alkaline HER at the atomic level.  相似文献
