The oxidative electropolymerization of [Ru(aphen)3](PF6)2 from an ionic liquid, 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide (BDMITFSI), is reported; aphen is 5-amino-1,10-phenanthroline. The deposition rate in the ionic liquid is more than an order of magnitude faster than in conventional solvents such as anhydrous acetonitrile and aqueous sulfuric acid. The UV-vis absorbance, Raman, and emission spectra of the films grown in ionic liquid, acetonitrile, and sulfuric acid suggest that the polymer formed does not depend on the solvent. However, scanning electron microscopy shows that the film morphologies differ significantly; e.g., films deposited from BDMITFSI have high surface roughness, while films produced in acetonitrile and sulfuric acid are relatively smooth. The rate of homogeneous charge transport through films grown in ionic liquids is (6.4 +/- 1.2) x 10(-9) cm (2) s (-1), which is approximately 2 orders of magnitude faster than that found for films deposited from acetonitrile. Thin electropolymerized films generate electrochemiluminescence (ECL) in the presence of tripropylamine as a coreactant. Films produced from sulfuric acid are very thin compared to the ones produced in BDMITFSI; however, they produce an ECL signal of similar intensity. The ECL responses of films produced in anhydrous acetonitrile are significantly less intense. The ECL intensity within the films is approximately 5-fold higher than when they are dissolved and measured in solution.  相似文献

Daily exposure of humans to phthalates may be a health risk because animal experiments have shown these compounds can affect the differentiation and function of the reproductive system. Because milk is the main source of nutrition for infants, knowledge of phthalate levels is important for exposure and risk assessment. Here we describe the development and validation of a quantitative analytical procedure for determination of phthalate metabolites in human milk. The phthalate monoesters investigated were: monomethyl phthalate (mMP), monoethyl phthalate (mEP), mono-n-butyl phthalate (mBP), monobenzyl phthalate (mBzP), mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (mEHP), and monoisononyl phthalate (mNP). The method is based on liquid extraction with a mixture of ethyl acetate and cyclohexane (95:5) followed by two-step solid-phase extraction (SPE). Detection and quantification of the phthalate monoesters were accomplished by high-pressure liquid chromatography using a Betasil phenyl column (100 mm×2.1 mm×3 m) and triple tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS–MS). Detection limits were in the range 0.01 to 0.5 g L–1 and method variation was from 5 to 15%. Analysis of 36 milk samples showed that all these phthalates were present, albeit at different concentrations. Median values (g L–1) obtained were 0.11 (mMP), 0.95 (mEP), 3.5 (mBP), 0.8 (mBzP), 9.5 (mEHP), and 101 (mNP). We also analysed seven samples of consumer milk and ten samples of infant formula. Only mBP and mEHP were detected in these samples, in the ranges 0.6–3.9 g L–1 (mBP) and 5.6–9.9 g L–1 (mEHP).  相似文献

The stability of the α-nitronyl nitroxide radical unit under acidic conditions is investigated by an integrated experimental UV/Vis spectroscopy and TDDFT study. In the field of molecular magnetism, α-nitronyl nitroxide radicals are important as purely organic spin carriers due to their synthetic versatility. Here, the existence of an intermediate of the protonated α-nitronyl nitroxide radical unit is demonstrated for the first time and a proposed disproportionation reaction is confirmed.  相似文献

A poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS)-based biochip with an integrated pressure controlled positioning system with sub-micrometre precision was realized. The biochip was easy and cheap to manufacture and enabled positioning in a wet environment. It allowed the application of total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy at the dorsal cell membrane, which is not adhering to a support. Specifically, the chip enabled TIRF microscopy at the apical membrane of polarized epithelial cells. Thereby, the device allowed us for the first time to monitor individual fusion events of GPI-GFP bearing vesicles at the apical membrane in live Madin-Darby canine kidney II (MDCK II) cells. Moreover, a mapping of fusion sites became feasible and revealed that the whole apical membrane is fusion competent. In total, the biochip offers an all-in-one solution for apical TIRF microscopy and contributes a novel tool to study trafficking processes close to the apical plasma membrane in polarized epithelial cells.  相似文献

Stable nitrogen and carbon isotopic ratios of hair strands of six patients suffering from anorexia nervosa were measured to monitor a dietary change from near starvation to recovery. This paper presents the results of a first-time study of nitrogen and carbon balance of the patients prior to and after admittance to a hospital and therapy. Sequential analysis of the isotopic ratios of hair strands of all patients could be related to the respective body mass index (BMI) of each patient. Our hypothesis concerning the diachronic change in delta15N and delta13C during therapy was met: The delta15N values were inversely related to the BMI, indicating a slow-down in catabolism of bodily protein due to the process of gluconeogenesis during the starvation phase. In contrast, the delta13C values and BMI were in phase: an increase in BMI resulted in an increase in the delta13C values. This rise in delta13C ratios is best interpreted by an increased supply of protein in the diet. Furthermore, delta15N and delta13C were inversely related. We conclude that hair, which is easily and non-traumatically sampled, is an adequate monitor that reflects dietary change and nitrogen balance within days. This isotopic method may also be applied in forensic studies with regard to cases of deprivation, and starvation, and may be a method for investigating starvation in historic populations.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To determine the potential long term (three or six months) effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in reducing intimal hyperplasia in swine. METHODS: Intimal hyperplasia in the abdominal aortae of swine was created by a combination of fat-supplemented diet and balloon catheter injury prior to PDT. Swine were randomly allocated into one of three groups which received either: (i) both drug and light (PDT), (ii) drug only, or (iii) light only. Twenty-four hours following administration of the photosensitizer PHOTOFRIN (porfimer sodium) at 2.5 mg/kg, two distinct 1 cm spots on the posterior wall of the abdominal aorta were illuminated by an argon pumped dye laser tuned to 630 nm for an energy fluence of 120 J/cm2. After three or six months, swine were sacrificed, perfusion fixed, and had their aortae removed for light and electron microscopy. RESULTS: Intimal hyperplasia reduction following PDT persisted for the three or six months follow up period. Experimental vessels receiving PDT showed a 26.0+/-4.5% ( n = 2, ie. four spots) and 30.8+/-5.4% ( n = 1, ie. two spots) smaller percent intimal area after three or six months of recovery, respectively. Control groups receiving either light or drug only showed less than a 6% difference in percent intimal area. Medial and adventitial layers were unaffected in all groups. Electron microscopy demonstrated that the endothelium or endothelial-like cells had regenerated in both the posterior and adjacent areas of the abdominal aortae with no clear difference between them. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that PDT may be beneficial in reducing intimal hyperplasia for up to three or six months in swine.  相似文献

The occupational voice use of teachers has been an important research topic over the last 10 years. However, data collection on vocal loading in teachers at and away from the workplace poses significant challenges to the research protocol. The challenges include recruitment of subjects, voice data collection on the job, and subject compliance and retention. The present article offers recommendations for coping with these protocol difficulties. The recommendations are based on the authors' experiences with long-term, on-the-job voice dosimetry of large subject groups of teachers in the United States and Finland.  相似文献

Global concern has been raised in recent years over adverse effects that may result from exposure to chemicals that may interfere with the endocrine system. A specific question is related to low-dose effects and long-term exposure consequences, especially for critical populations (foetus, new born, prepubertal children). In this context, we decided to focus our attention on steroid hormones as they are the most potent endocrine disrupters. Our general goal is to investigate whether the steroid intake through food may represent a risk for prepubertal children, from an endocrine disruption point of view, especially with regard to the corresponding endogenous production level in this target population. As a starting point, it was estimated that a (re)-evaluation of the endogenous production of natural estrogens for this population was necessary, on the basis of a very sensitive and specific confirmatory measurement technique (gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry or gas chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry). Thus, a new ultra-sensitive approach for steroid trace measurement in biological samples was developed, which was mainly based on a specific derivatisation (pentafluorobenzyl derivative) and negative chemical ionisation (NCI). Preliminary results obtained by applying this method on plasma samples from healthy prepubertal children demonstrated that estradiol endogenous level in prepubertal children is unsurprisingly very low. Estrone was determined in almost all samples at concentration in the 2-70 ng L(-1) range while 17alpha and 17beta estradiol were quantified in only few samples at concentrations ranging from 2 to 6 ng L(-1). Exogenous contributions of estrogens will therefore constitute a relatively higher proportion of sex hormone activity in the immature child.  相似文献

The capability to transfer a multilayer coating from the initial substrate on which it was deposited to another one is an interesting technique for the manufacturing of patterned components with a high number of different filters such as stripe filters. The two major technological steps of the transfer, namely the removal from the initial substrate, and the bonding onto the new one, are described in this paper. The principle of this approach is validated by the transfer of a band-pass filter with the typical sizes of a stripe.  相似文献

We report an analysis of the energetics of aromatic–aromatic stacking interactions for 39 non-covalent reactions of self- and hetero-association of 12 aromatic molecules with different structures and charge states. A protocol for computation of the contributions to the total energy from various energetic terms has been developed and the results are consistent with experiment in 92% of all the systems studied. It is found that the contributions from hydrogen bonds and entropic factors are always unfavorable, whereas contributions from van-der-Waals, electrostatic and/or hydrophobic effects may lead to stabilizing or destabilizing factors depending on the system studied. The analysis carried out in this work provides an answer to the questions “What forces stabilize/destabilize the stacking of aromatic molecules in aqueous-salt solution and what are their relative importance?”  相似文献
