This article provides a concise summary of alkaline earth metal nitrogen chemistry. This important area of s-block metal chemistry is shedding important light on the recent development of alkaline earth metal chemistry, as the preparation of the target compounds utilizes a large variety of synthetic methodology. Odorous emissions from wastewater collection systems and treatment facilities affecting quality of life have given local populations reasons to complain for decades. In order to characterise the composition of such malodorous emissions, a method based on headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) has been developed to determine a list of compounds belonging to different chemical families, which have been previously described as potentially responsible for odour complaints, in wastewater matrices. Some parameters affecting the chromatographic behaviour of the target compounds were studied (e.g. splitless time). Experimental conditions affecting the extraction process (temperature, time and salt content) were evaluated by applying a factorial design at two levels. Using a DVB/CAR/PDMS fibre and the optimised HS-SPME conditions, calibration curves were constructed with detection limits in the range of 0.003-0.6 μg L(-1). Recovery values higher than 70% and relative standard deviation values between 5 and 16% (n=5) were obtained for all compounds and found to be satisfactory. In wastewater samples, a decrease in the concentration of the analysed compounds through the different treatments was observed. Most of the target analytes were found in influent samples while only octanal and carvone were detected in samples from the plant effluent.  相似文献

In this study we describe a new method for rapid and sensitive analysis of reduced high mannose and complex glycans using zwitterionic-type hydrophilic interaction nano-liquid chromatography (nano ZIC-HILIC, 75 μm I.D.×150 mm) coupled with high resolution nanoelectrospray ionisation time of flight mass spectrometry (nano ESI-TOF-MS). The retention of neutral glycans increases with increasing molecular weight and is higher for high mannose glycans than for complex-type glycans. The selectivity of ZIC-HILIC for sialylated glycans differs from that for the neutral glycans and is believed to involve electrostatic repulsion; therefore, charged glycans are eluted earlier than neutral glycans with comparable molecular weight. Due to the improved sensitivity achieved by employing a ZIC-HILIC nano-column, a range of less common complex glycans has been studied and the high resolution mass spectrometry enabled confirmation of glycan composition for the proposed structures. Good sensitivity for glycans was achieved without prior fluorescent labelling, and the time of the analysis was significantly reduced compared to the separation of glycans on a conventional-size column. The proposed method offers a fast and sensitive approach for glycan profiling applied to analysis of biopharmaceuticals.  相似文献

We report the synthesis, characterization and relaxometric study of ferrofluids based on iron oxide, with potential for use as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents (CAs). The effect of different cost-effective, water-based surface modification approaches which can be easily scaled-up for the large scale synthesis of the ferrofluids has been investigated. Surface modification was achieved by silanization, and/or coating with non-toxic commercial dispersants (a lauric polysorbate and a block copolymer with pigment affinic groups, namely Tween 20 and Disperbyk 190) which were added after or during iron oxide nanoparticle synthesis. It was observed that all the materials synthesized functioned as negative contrast agents at physiological temperature and at frequencies covered by clinical imagers. The relaxometric properties of the magnetic nanoparticles were significantly improved after surface coating with stabilizers compared to the original iron oxide nanoparticles, with particular reference to the silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles. The results indicate that the optimization of the preparation of colloidal magnetic ferrofluids by surface modification is effective in the design of novel contrast agents for MRI by enabling better or more effective interaction between the coated iron oxide nanoparticles and protons present in their aqueous environment.  相似文献

Femtosecond transient grating experiments are used to investigate electronic structures and transport mechanisms in dye-sensitized nanocrystalline TiO(2) films. This study examines two molecular sensitizers spanning the weak (a phosphonated Ruthenium complex) and strong (catechol) molecule-TiO(2) coupling regimes. It is shown that strong molecule-TiO(2) interactions give rise to photoinduced vibrational coherences at the interface between species. We suggest that the amplitudes of these coherences reflect the molecule-TiO(2) coupling strength and signify the delocalization of excited state wavefunctions.  相似文献

The scope of N-atom transfer from the electrophilic ruthenium(VI) nitrido containing polyoxometalate [PW(11)O(39)Ru(VI)N](4-) has been extended to the N-heterocyclic carbene {CH(2)(Mes)N}(2)C and the coupling product {CH(2)(Mes)N}(2)CNH(2)(+) characterized by (1)H NMR and high-resolution mass spectrometry. Because guanidines display many fields of applications ranging from biology to supramolecular chemistry, this could afford an original route to the synthesis of cyclic guanidines. This also enlarges the potential of nitrido complexes in the synthesis of heterocycles, mainly illustrated in the literature through the formation of aziridines through N-atom transfer to alkenes. In the course of the reaction, the ruthenium(III)-containing polyoxometallic intermediate [PW(11)O(39)Ru(III){NC{N(Mes)CH(2)}(2)}](5-) has been thoroughly characterized by continuous-wave and pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance, which nicely confirms the presence of the organic moiety on the polyoxometallic framework, Ru K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure, and electrochemistry.  相似文献

The rational design and synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrids as functional molecular materials relies on both the careful conception of building-blocks and the strategy for their assembly. Three families of trialkoxo polyoxometalates (Lindqvist 2, Anderson 3, Dawson 4) grafted with remote terpyridine coordination sites have been synthesized to extend the available building-blocks. These new units can be combined with metal complexes that play a role as (i) chromophores toward charge-separated systems in light-harvesting devices and (ii) coordination motifs for metal-directed self-assembly toward multifunctional molecular hybrid materials. The X-ray crystal structures of polyoxometalate-terpyridine hybrids indicate distances of 21 ? and 19 ? between the two terpyridyl coordination sites in 2 and 3, respectively, with angles between the coordination vectors of 180° and 177.4°, respectively. Lindqvist 2 displays a reduction at -0.52 V vs SCE while Anderson 3 exhibits one reversible oxidation attributed to Mn(III)/Mn(IV) (+0.75 V vs SCE) and a broad wave at -1.28 V vs SCE assigned to the Mn(III)/Mn(II) reduction. Dawson 4 displays several processes on a wide range of potentials (+0.5 to -2.0 V vs SCE) centered on V(V), W(VI) and the organic ligand in order of decreasing potentials. The grafted terpyridine ligands in Anderson 3 and Dawson 4 were successfully coordinated to {PdCl}(+) and {RuCl(3)} moieties, respectively. The polyoxometalates and transition metal complexes retain their intrinsic properties in the final assemblies.  相似文献

New methodology for the preparation of a variety of aminoiminohextitols is described. Key in the synthesis is the application of a diastereoselective Strecker reaction and the extension of our carbamate annulation methodology to protected and functionalized alkenylamines. Insight into the effects that the substitution patterns of the alkenylamines have on the diastereoselectivity of the iodocyclization and carbamate annulation is discussed. An evaluation of the glycosidase inhibitory activity of the aminoiminohexitols and derivatives is also presented, with the previously undisclosed D-talo isomer showing good selective inhibition of β-D-glucosidase.  相似文献
