Composite membranes were prepared by (a) infiltrating NAFION with SiO2-P2O5-ZrO2 sol, and (b) recasting a film using NAFION solution containing SiO2-P2O5-ZrO2 sol. The membranes were characterized by Differential Thermal Analysis and ac-impedance spectroscopy as a function of relative humidity. The influences of the heat treatment (80°C–150°C) and cleaning on the electrical properties were investigated. The incorporation of SiO2-P2O5-ZrO2 gels into NAFION lead to improvements in its thermal stability and proton conductivity.  相似文献

Hydrogenated polynorbornene (hPN) synthesized by ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) exhibits a thermoreversible change in crystal polymorph at a temperature T cc below its melting point, T m. The polymorphic transition corresponds to a sharp increase in rotational disorder around the chain axis as the temperature is increased above T cc. Saturation of ROMP polynorbornene (PN) to hPN can be achieved through both catalytic and noncatalytic approaches. Here, three different hydrogenation routes were employed on the same precursor polymer: catalytic routes over either supported Pd0 or a Ni/Al complex, and noncatalytic saturation with diimide. The different hydrogenation routes result in hPNs with varying degrees of epimerization of the cyclopentylene ring (from cis to trans); these epimerized units are included in the hPN crystals. The crystal structure of the rotationally ordered hPN polymorph, observed below T cc, changes sharply at low levels of epimerization and then is weakly influenced by further increases in trans content. The stability of the rotationally ordered hPN polymorph decreases with increasing epimerization, as reflected in a reduction of T cc from 134 °C to 92 °C at 22% epimerization. T cc is less affected by epimerization than by the inclusion of a similar content of 5‐methylnorbornene units, reflecting the smaller size of the trans defect. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. The syn and anti isomers of [FeIV(O)(TMC)]2+ (TMC=tetramethylcyclam) represent the first isolated pair of synthetic non‐heme oxoiron(IV) complexes with identical ligand topology, differing only in the position of the oxo unit bound to the iron center. Both isomers have previously been characterized. Reported here is that the syn isomer [FeIV(Osyn)(TMC)(NCMe)]2+ ( 2 ) converts into its anti form [FeIV(Oanti)(TMC)(NCMe)]2+ ( 1 ) in MeCN, an isomerization facilitated by water and monitored most readily by 1H NMR and Raman spectroscopy. Indeed, when H218O is introduced to 2 , the nascent 1 becomes 18O‐labeled. These results provide compelling evidence for a mechanism involving direct binding of a water molecule trans to the oxo atom in 2 with subsequent oxo–hydroxo tautomerism for its incorporation as the oxo atom of 1 . The nonplanar nature of the TMC supporting ligand makes this isomerization an irreversible transformation, unlike for their planar heme counterparts.  相似文献

Pulsed EPR dipolar spectroscopy (PDS) offers several methods for measuring dipolar coupling and thus the distance between electron-spin centers. To date, PDS measurements to metal centers were limited to ions that adhere to the high-field approximation. Here, the PDS methodology is extended to cases where the high-field approximation breaks down on the example of the high-spin Fe3+/nitroxide spin-pair. First, the theory developed by Maryasov et al. (Appl. Magn. Reson. 2006 , 30, 683–702) was adapted to derive equations for the dipolar coupling constant, which revealed that the dipolar spectrum does not only depend on the length and orientation of the interspin distance vector with respect to the applied magnetic field but also on its orientation to the effective g-tensor of the Fe3+ ion. Then, it is shown on a model system and a heme protein that a PDS method called relaxation-induced dipolar modulation enhancement (RIDME) is well-suited to measuring such spectra and that the experimentally obtained dipolar spectra are in full agreement with the derived equations. Finally, a RIDME data analysis procedure was developed, which facilitates the determination of distance and angular distributions from the RIDME data. Thus, this study enables the application of PDS to for example, the highly relevant class of high-spin Fe3+ heme proteins.  相似文献

Iron(III) porphyrins have the propensity to form μ2-oxo-dimers, the structures of which resemble two wheels on an axle. Whereas their crystal structure is known, their solution structure and internal dynamics is not. In the present work, the structure and dynamics of such dimers were studied by means of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and quantum chemistry based molecular dynamics (MD) simulations by using the semiempirical tight-binding method (GFN-xTB). To enable EPR investigation of the dimers, a nitroxide was attached to each of the tetraphenylporphyrin cores through a linear and a bent linker. The inter-nitroxide distance distributions within the dimers were determined by continuous-wave (cw)-EPR and pulsed electron–electron double resonance (PELDOR or DEER) experiments and, with the help of MD, interpreted in terms of the rotation of the porphyrin planes with respect to each other around the Fe–O–Fe axis. It was found that such rotation is restricted to the four registers defined by the phenyl substituents. Within the registers, the rotation angle swings between 30° and 60° in the proximal and between 125° and 145° in the distal register. With EPR, all four angles were found to be equally populated, whereas the 30° and 145° angles are strongly favored to the expense of the 60° and 125° angles in the MD simulation. In either case, the internal dynamics of these dimers thus resemble the motion of a step motor.  相似文献

Abstract— Ultraviolet-transparent polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and cellulose (III) acetate (CA) (often used as a cut-off filter in UVB [280–320 nm] biological effect studies) were exposed to a 20 W Philips TL 12 lamp to examine changes in transmission characteristics due to UVB exposure. Transmission of UVB and biologically weighted UVB (UVBE(DNA)) through PMMA were similar, 88.3 and 83.5%, respectively. The absorption characteristics of PMMA did not change with time at any of the UV irradiance levels applied. However, transmission of UVB and UVBBE(DNA)) through new CA differed considerably: 59% versus only 11%, respectively. Also, spectral absorption characteristics changed with time due to degradation of CA, at a rate that was dependent on the incident UVB irradiance. The decrease in transmission through CA of both UVB and UVBE(DNA) can be described by exponential functions. The CA that was wrapped around the UV lamp showed dramatic changes in UV absorption over the first few hours of use. However, when CA was placed at a longer distance from the light source initial degradation was less. It is concluded that PMMA can be applied in UV effect studies as a reasonable alternative for quartz. The CA should, however, be used with care, because the large transmission decreases that were observed strongly hamper an accurate calculation of (biologically weighted) UVB dose rates.  相似文献
