Vibrational properties of surface species formed upon H2 and D2 exposure of silica supported platinum particles have been investigated with in situ diffuse reflection infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy. Experiments have been performed at 50-250 degrees C, using different platinum loading of the samples in the absence and presence of oxygen. In addition, electronic structure calculations and vibrational analysis have been performed within the density functional theory for H adsorption on a silica cluster, (HO)3SiOSi(OH)3. The spectroscopy experiments showed reversible formation of isolated OH and OD groups on the silica surface when the samples were exposed to H2 and D2, respectively. In addition to the absorption peak corresponding to isolated OH and OD groups, an intense broad band was observed around 3270 cm(-1) (2500 cm(-1)) during H2 (D2) exposure. Supported by the calculations, this band was assigned to perturbed OH groups on the silica surface. The surface coverage of new OH groups was found to correlate to the platinum loading in the samples, indicating that the new silanol groups were formed in the vicinity of the Pt particles. The present study aimed to analyze the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of anthocyanins extracted from colored wheat flour and wheat-grass juice against human pathogens. The total anthocyanin content and antioxidant potential in colored wheat flour and wheat-grass juice extracts were significantly higher than white flour and wheat-grass juice extracts. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography showed the maximum number of anthocyanin peaks in black wheat, with delphinidin-3-o-galactoside chloride, delphinidin-3-o-glucoside chloride, and cyanindin-3-o-glucoside chloride as the major contributors. Among flour extracts, maximum zones of inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC 1934), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MTCC 1434), Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans (MTCC 227) were produced by black flour extract, having the highest anthocyanin content. It exhibited a minimum microbicidal concentration (MMC) of 200 mg/mL against E. coli and C. albicans; and 100 and 150 mg/mL against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa, respectively. Black and purple flour extracts exhibited a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 50 mg/mL against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. White flour extracts did not show MMC against E. coli and C. albicans. Among wheat-grass juice extracts, black wheat-grass was most effective and showed an MIC of 100–150 mg/mL against all pathogens. It exhibited an MMC of 200 mg/mL against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. Hence, anthocyanin-rich colored wheat could be of nutraceutical importance. 相似文献

The development of efficient and selective luminescent probes for reactive oxygen species, particularly for singlet molecular oxygen, is currently of great importance. In this study, the photochemical behavior of Singlet Oxygen Sensor Green® (SOSG), a commercially available fluorescent probe for singlet oxygen, was examined. Despite published claims to the contrary, the data presented herein indicate that SOSG can, in fact, be incorporated into a living mammalian cell. However, for a number of reasons, caution must be exercised when using SOSG. First, it is shown that the immediate product of the reaction between SOSG and singlet oxygen is, itself, an efficient singlet oxygen photosensitizer. Second, SOSG appears to efficiently bind to proteins which, in turn, can influence uptake by a cell as well as behavior in the cell. As such, incorrect use of SOSG can yield misleading data on yields of photosensitized singlet oxygen production, and can also lead to photooxygenation‐dependent adverse effects in the system being investigated. 相似文献

A better comprehension of the prilocaine (PLC)-β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) complex liberation to membranes was provided by studying the architectural supramolecular arrangements of PLC, β-CD and egg phosphatidylcholine (EPC) liposomes, a membrane model. The topologies and possible interactions of mixtures of PLC, β-CD and EPC liposomes were investigated by nuclear magnetic resonances combining experimental (1)H-NMR (1D ROESY, STD and DOSY) at different pHs. The results indicate that in the mixture PLC/β-CD/EPC at pH 10 the PLC molecules are almost totally embedded into the liposomes and little interaction was observed between PLC and β-CD. However, at pH 5.5 not only was PLC imbedded in the EPC bilayer, but PLC was also interacting with β-CD. These results were rationalized as a spontaneous PLC release from β-CD to liposomes vesicles, whereas the PLC/EPC complex formation was higher at pH 10 than pH 5.5. 相似文献

The volt-ampere (Ⅰ-Ⅴ) characteristics of the c/s-poly (phenyl acetylene) (PPA) of cis-transoidal structure has been studied in the temperature range of 253-288K. An ITO/ PPA/ Au sandwich configuration was used for the measurements. Under an applied field of less than 10~5V/ cm it showed ohmic behavior, while the space charge limited current (SCLC) was observed at applied fields above 5×10~5V/ cm. In the ohmic region a conductivity of 1.37×10~(-16)S/ cm was obtained at room temperature with an activation energy of 0.5eV. These data indicate that the conduction is not intrinsic one but is the result of thermal release of trapped carriers. In fact the data in the SCLC region treated according to the theory for a single Gaussian distribution of traps gave a mean trap energy of 0.48 eV with a half-width of 0.4 eV and a total density of trapping states of 5×10~(16)/cm~3. 相似文献

The use of the intramolecular Buchner cyclisation of an α-diazoketone as an approach to the synthesis of daucane sesquiterpenes is described; in particular the synthesis of the cis-fused analogue of dihydro CAF-603. The key step in the synthesis is the intramolecular Buchner cyclisation, which provides the bicyclo[5.3.0]decane framework with the required stereochemistry at the quaternary centre generated in the cyclisation.
