The requirement for low operational voltage in electrowetting devices, met using thin dielectrics, is usually connected with serious material failure issues. Dielectric breakdown (visible as electrolysis) is frequently evident slightly beyond the onset of the contact angle saturation. Here, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) is used to deposit thin fluorocarbon films prior to the spin-coating of Teflon® amorphous fluoropolymer. The resulting multilayered hydrophobic top coating improves the electrowetting performance of the stack, by showing high resistance to dielectric breakdown at high applied voltages and for continuous long term application of DC and AC voltage. Leakage current measurements during electrowetting experiments with the proposed composite coating showed that current remains fairly constant at consecutive electrowetting tests in contrast to plain Teflon® coating in which material degradation is evident by a progressive increase in the leakage current after multiple electrowetting tests. Since the proposed composite coating demonstrates increased resistance to material failure and to dielectric breakdown even at thin configurations, its integration in electrowetting devices may impact their reliability, robustness, and lifetime. 相似文献

Electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR) of the nitroxide labelled fatty acid probes (5-, 16-doxyl stearic acid) was used to monitor the micelle microviscosity of three surfactants at various concentrations in aqueous solution: sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). At low surfactant concentration, there is no micelle, the ESR probe is dissolved in water/surfactant homogeneous phase and gives his microviscosity. At higher surfactant concentration, an abrupt increase in microviscosity indicates the apparition of micelles and, the solubilization of the probes in micelles. The microviscosity of the three surfactants, in a large surfactant range, was obtained as well as the critical micelle concentration (CMC). The microviscosity increased slightly with the increase in surfactant concentration. Phosphate buffer lowered the CMC value and generally increased the microviscosity. 相似文献

This paper examines and compares two methods of improving the quality of three-dimensional beamforming with phased microphone arrays. The intended application is the detection of aerodynamic noise sources on wind turbines. Both methods employ Fourier based deconvolution. The first method involves a transformation of coordinates that tends to make the response to a point source, the point spread function, more shift invariant. The result is a significant improvement in sound source imaging in the transformed coordinate system. However, the inverse transformation to Cartesian coordinates introduces range dependent resolution limitations because of the irregular distribution of the focal points. The second method combines the transformation of coordinates with an alternative scanning technique. This method can be used in near field three-dimensional acoustic imaging to produce maps free of sidelobes and with constant resolution. The robustness of the proposed methods is validated both with computer simulations and experimentally. 相似文献

This study was designed to evaluate the chemical fingerprints and the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hypolipidemic activity of selected Crepis species collected in Greece, namely, C. commutata, C. dioscoridis, C. foetida, C. heldreichiana, C. incana, C. rubra, and Phitosia crocifolia (formerly known as Crepis crocifolia). For the phytochemical analyses, sample measurements were carried out by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Τhe extracts were evaluated both in vitro (radical scavenging activity: DPPH assay and total phenolic content: Folin–Ciocalteu) and in vivo (paw edema reduction and hypolipidemic activity: experimental mouse protocols). Among the tested extracts, C. incana presented the highest gallic acid equivalents (GAE) (0.0834 mg/mL) and the highest antioxidant activity (IC50 = 0.07 mg/mL) in vitro, as well as the highest anti-inflammatory activity with 32% edema reduction in vivo. Moreover, in the hypolipidemic protocol, the same extract increased plasma total antioxidant capacity (TAC) by 48.7%, and decreased cholesterol (41.3%) as well as triglycerides (37.2%). According to fractionation of the extract and the phytochemical results, this biological effect may be associated with the rich phenolic composition; caffeoyl tartaric acid derivatives (cichoric and caftaric acid) are regarded as the most prominent bioactive specialized metabolites.
