We have studied the temperature and length scale dependence of the energetics of the pair interaction of well-established hydrophobic solutes tetraalkylammonium bromides with hydrophilic formamide (FA) and hydrophobic hexamethylphosphoric triamide (HMPT). Our results do indicate the anomalous length scale dependence of the tetraalkylammonium cation-amide interaction in water. As the cation size is increased, the unfavorable enthalpy of interaction is increased rather linearly until the maximum is reached, after which there appears to be a reversal of the trend. We believe that this phenomenon arises from the impossibility of water to maintain its H-bond network near large tetraalkylammonium cations that leads to the formation of a somewhat disordered solute hydration shell. The energetic cost for overlapping this shell with the amide hydration shell in water is noticeably smaller than that for tetraalkylammonium cations of a moderated size.  相似文献

The experimental solid-state near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectra for a series of glycine-related samples including alpha-glycine, beta-glycine, glycinium chloride, glycinium trifluoroacetate, and sodium glycinate at the C, N, and O K-edges measured under identical conditions are reported and compared. An assignment of spectral features for alpha-glycine is proposed on the basis of extended theoretical simulations of polarization-dependent spectra performed within the real-space multiple-scattering formalism explicitly taking into account the intermolecular environment of a glycine molecule in a crystal.  相似文献

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of the Mg/Al (3:1) layered double hydroxide (LDH), hydrotalcite (HT), containing citrate, C6H5O7(3-), as the charge balancing interlayer anion provides new molecular scale insight into the interlayer structure, hydrogen bonding, and energetics of the hydration and consequent swelling of LDH compounds containing organic and biomolecules. Citrate-HT exhibits affinity for water up to very high hydration levels, in contrast to the preferred low hydration states of most LDHs intercalated with small, inorganic anions. This result is consistent with the recent experimental observation of the delamination of lactate-HT. The high water affinity is rationalized in terms of the preference of citrate ion for hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) donated from water molecules rather than from the hydroxyl groups of the metal hydroxide layer and the need to develop an integrated interlayer H-bond network among the citrate ions, water, and -OH groups of the hydroxide layers. The changes in the orientation of citrate molecules with progressive hydration are also intimately related to its preference to accept hydrogen bonds from water.  相似文献

A sol–gel based hybrid process was developed by manipulating different techniques in sol–gel process to synthesize γ-alumina and (CuO, CuO + ZnO) doped γ-alumina spherical particles. Catalysts having spherical geometry have an important advantage over powders or pellets which are impervious to fluids, when packed in a reactor. Boehmite sol was used as alumina precursor for synthesizing porous γ-alumina and doped materials. γ-alumina particles having 5 wt% CuO, 4 wt% CuO + 1 wt% ZnO, 3 wt% CuO + 2 wt% ZnO and 2 wt% CuO + 3 wt% ZnO were prepared by adding required amounts of Cu(NO3)2 and Zn(NO3)2 solutions prior to gelation of the sol. Methanol dehydration studies were carried out by employing these synthesized catalysts. Hundred percent conversion of methanol to dimethyl ether was observed with (4 wt% CuO + 1 wt% ZnO)-γ-alumina and (5 wt% CuO)-γ-alumina microspheres at 325 and 350 °C, respectively.  相似文献

The rearrangement of easily accessible Cookson’s diketone with chlorosulfonic acid in chloroform followed by the acidic hydrolysis gave 6-chloro-7-hydroxy-dichloropentacyclo[6.3.0.02,6.03,10.05,9]undecane-4-one, whose syn-stereochemistry was assigned through the X-ray crystal structure analysis. This key structure was used for the stereoselective synthesis of the D 3-trishomocubane derivatives as well as for the preparation of potential drugs bearing hydroxy- and amino-functional groups. Ion transfer and storage using inhomogeneous radio frequency (RF) electric fields in combination with gas-assisted ion cooling and focusing constitutes one of the basic techniques in mass spectrometry today. The RF motion of ions in the bath gas environment involves a large number of ion-neutral collisions that leads to the internal activation of ions and their effective "heating" (when a thermal distribution of internal energies results). The degree of ion activation required in various applications may range from a minimum level (e.g., slightly raising the average internal energy) to an intense level resulting in ion fragmentation. Several research groups proposed using the effective temperature as a measure of ion activation under conditions of multiple ion-neutral collisions. Here we present approximate relationships for the effective ion temperature relevant to typical operation modes of RF multipole devices. We show that RF ion activation results in near-thermal energies for ions occupying an equilibrium position at the center of an RF trap, whereas increased ion activation can be produced by shifting ions off-center, e.g., by means of an external DC electric field. The ion dissociation in the linear quadrupole ion trap using the dipolar DC ion activation has been observed experimentally and interpreted in terms of the effective ion temperature.  相似文献

Heating of N-{2-[(R-amino)carbonyl]phenyl}prolinamides in triethyl orthoformate solution was found to give 6-R-5,6,6a,8,9,10,10a,11-octahydropyrrolo[1′,2′:3,4]imidazo[1,2-a]quinazoline-5,11-diones. Similar reaction of N-{2-[(R-amino)carbonyl]phenyl}thiazolidine-4-carboxamides afforded 6-R-5,6,6a,10,10a,11-hexahydrothiazolo[3′,4′:3,4]imidazo[1,2-a]quinazoline-5,11-diones. The relative configuration of C-6a and C-10a centres of the tetracyclic compounds obtained was assigned as trans on the basis of X-ray crystallographic study.  相似文献

We have performed molecular dynamics simulations of polyelectrolyte adsorption at oppositely charged surfaces from dilute polyelectrolyte solutions. In our simulations, polyelectrolytes were modeled by chains of charged Lennard-Jones particles with explicit counterions. We have studied the effects of the surface charge density, surface charge distribution, solvent quality for the polymer backbone, strength of the short-range interactions between polymers and substrates on the polymer surface coverage, and the thickness of the adsorbed layer. The polymer surface coverage monotonically increases with increasing surface charge density for almost all studied systems except for the system of hydrophilic polyelectrolytes adsorbing at hydrophilic surfaces. In this case the polymer surface coverage saturates at high surface charge densities. This is due to additional monomer-monomer repulsion between adsorbed polymer chains, which becomes important in dense polymeric layers. These interactions also preclude surface overcharging by hydrophilic polyelectrolytes at high surface charge densities. The thickness of the adsorbed layer shows monotonic dependence on the surface charge density for the systems of hydrophobic polyelectrolytes for both hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces. Thickness is a decreasing function of the surface charge density in the case of hydrophilic surfaces while it increases with the surface charge density for hydrophobic substrates. Qualitatively different behavior is observed for the thickness of the adsorbed layer of hydrophilic polyelectrolytes at hydrophilic surfaces. In this case, thickness first decreases with increasing surface charge density, then it begins to increase.  相似文献

Heterocyclic privileged medicinal scaffolds involving pyridine, 1,4-dihydropyridine, chromeno[2,3-b]pyridine, and dihydro-1,4-dithiepine frameworks are prepared via a single-step multicomponent reaction of structurally diverse aldehydes with various thiols and malononitrile. Mechanistic studies of the synthetic pathway leading to pyridines reveal that 1,4-dihydropyridines undergo oxidation by the intermediate Knoevenagel adducts rather than by air oxygen. The use of o,o'-disubstituted aromatic aldehydes leads to the corresponding 1,4-dihydropyridines, whereas salicylic aldehydes result in chromeno[2,3-b]pyridines. Reactions of ethanedithiol as a thiol component produce dimeric pyridines with sterically unencumbered aldehydes, while o,o'-disubstituted aromatic aldehydes give dihydro-1,4-dithiepines. Thus, depending on the aldehyde and thiol types, diverse libraries of medicinally relevant compounds can be prepared by a simple one-step process involving no chromatography.  相似文献
