The cesium enolate of 6-phenyl-alpha-tetralone (CsPAT) has a lambda(max) in THF at about 387 nm, but the variation with concentration is too small for application of singular value decomposition. Proton-transfer studies with several indicators show that CsPAT forms monomer-tetramer mixtures with a tetramerization equilibrium constant, K(1,4) = 2.3 x 10(11) M(-3). The pK of the monomer is 23.39 on a scale where fluorene is assigned 22.9 (per hydrogen). For comparison, the lithium enolate, LiPAT, is also a monomer-tetramer with K(1,4) = 4.7 x 10(10) M(-3) and a monomer pK = 14.22. HMPA in large amounts promotes dissociation to monomer with both enolates. Ion-pair S(N)2 initial rates were measured for CsPAT with several alkyl halides and with methyl tosylate and compared with other rates with LiPAT. In all cases, the enolate monomers are much more reactive than the aggregates. Reaction of CsPAT with alkyl halides is generally C-alkylation but HMPA promotes increasing amounts of O-alkylation. A new indicator, 11-methyl-11H-benzo[b]fluorene, has a pK on the cesium scale of 23.39.  相似文献

A fast, simple and reliable method for the analysis of DEHP in PVC products was developed using a one-step Soxhlet extraction prior to HPLC determination. The linear range from 1.25 /g to 250 mg/g of DEHP in PVC was found sufficient to cover the normal concentrations encountered. The reliability of the method was established by comparison with the ASTM method and no potential interferent was identified except a large concentration of DIMP.  相似文献

Elliptic genera of level N have been defined by F. Hirzebruch,generalising the earlier notion of elliptic genus due to S.Ochanine. In this paper we investigate the left cell representations ofthe Iwahori-Hecke algebras associated to a finite Coxeter groupW. Our main result shows that , where w0 is the element of longest length in W, acts essentiallyas an involution upon the canonical bases of a cell representation.We describe some properties of this involution, use it to furtherdescribe the left cells, and finally show how to realize eachcell representation as a submodule of . A perturbation theory approach was developed for predicting the vibrational and electronic second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) polarizabilities of materials and macromolecules comprised of many coupled chromophores, with an emphasis on common protein secondary structural motifs. The polarization-dependent NLO properties of electronic and vibrational transitions in assemblies of amide chromophores comprising the polypeptide backbones of proteins were found to be accurately recovered in quantum chemical calculations by treating the coupling between adjacent oscillators perturbatively. A novel diagrammatic approach was developed to provide an intuitive visual means of interpreting the results of the perturbation theory calculations. Using this approach, the chiral and achiral polarization-dependent electronic SHG, isotropic SFG, and vibrational SFG nonlinear optical activities of protein structures were predicted and interpreted within the context of simple orientational models.  相似文献

Equations to enable determination of the helicity (angular momentum orientation) of photofragments resulting from single-photon dissociation of an isotropic sample of molecules are presented. The symmetry of the photofragment distribution is illustrated by three-dimensional vector plots of the expectation values of projections of the fragment total angular momentum. Equations describing circular polarization of light in the spherical tensor basis are presented. Methods for the optical measurement of angular momentum orientation are discussed, including determination of the helicity of circularly polarized light by a quarter-wave plate or single Fresnel rhomb.  相似文献

Contribution to the study of the behaviour of catechin in alkaline medium When catechin ( 1 ) is warmed with aqueous alkali it first undergoes rapid epimerisation. After some time a novel bridged carbocyclic enol, catechinic acid ( 3 ) separates out and may be isolated in excellent yield. Eventually catechinic acid isomerises to 2-(3′,4′-dihydroxyphenyl)-3,9-epoxy-6-oxo-bicyclo[3,3,1]-non-7-en-8,9-diol ( 4 ) via an open chain anion ( 5 ) which is also involved in the epimerisation of catechin. Assignments of structure are given and the equilibria observed are discussed.  相似文献
