A series of mesoporous aluminas have been synthesized using commercial hyperbranched polyesters of the second to fourth generation as porogens. To achieve a suitable interaction between the polymer and the aluminium source, aluminium sec‐butoxide, the terminal hydroxyl groups of the hyperbranched polymer were first reacted by succinic anhydride. The mesoporous aluminas were analyzed by nitrogen adsorption/desorption, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). No dependence of the generation of the hyperbranched template on pore size was found in this study. Instead the pore size appears to depend on the amount of water added to the reaction mixture as well as the concentration of the hyperbranched polymer.  相似文献

Risk of chronic diseases, like cardiovascular disease and cancer, has been associated with biomarkers related to one-carbon metabolism, which comprises a metabolic network of cross-talking pathways. To address this complexity in epidemiological studies, we have established an isotope dilution HPLC-MS/MS method for quantification of 12 biomarkers and metabolites. All sample handling is performed by a robotic workstation. The assay uses 45 μL of plasma, and sample treatment consists of protein precipitation by trichloroacetic acid. The analytes were separated on a Fortis Phenyl column using an isocratic mobile phase that contained water, methanol and acetic acid. Methionine, methionine sulfoxide, choline, betaine, dimethylglycine, arginine, asymmetric dimethylarginine, symmetric dimethylarginine, homoarginine, creatinine, cystathionine and trimethyllysine all showed limits of detection well below the 5th percentile of plasma distributions in healthy humans, coefficients of variation were in the range 2.2–12.3 %, and recoveries were 80–131 %. Simple sample processing, low-volume consumption, multiplexing and high capacity/short run time of this method make it suitable for large-scale metabolic profiling of precious biobank samples.  相似文献

Abstract Global warming is expected to affect the ecosystem in the Northeast Atlantic, and substantial changes will also affect the aquaculture industry. Farming of salmon and trout is the biggest aquaculture industry in Norway, with an export value of about 3 billion US dollars in 2007. The objective of the paper is to analyze the potential economic effect a general increase in sea temperature can have on the Norwegian salmon aquaculture industry. The assessment of the economic impact of global warming is made possible by estimating a growth function, which explicitly includes sea water temperature. The analysis compares the economic effect of a climate change on fish farming plants in the south and the north of Norway. The scenarios are based on a model with monthly seasonal variation in temperature.  相似文献

Herein, we report the discovery of a toroidal inorganic cluster of zirconium(IV) oxysulfate of unprecedented size with the formula Zr70(SO4)58(O/OH)146x(H2O) (Zr70), which displays different packing of ring units and thus several polymorphic crystal structures. The ring measures over 3 nm across, has an inner cavity of 1 nm and displays a pseudo-10-fold rotational symmetry of Zr6 octahedra bridged by an additional Zr in the outer rim of the ring. Depending on the co-crystallizing species, the rings form various crystalline phases in which the torus units are connected in extended chain and network structures. One phase, in which the ring units are arranged in layers and form one-dimensional channels, displays high permanent porosity (BET surface area: 241 m2 g−1), and thus demonstrates a functional property for potential use in, for example, adsorption or heterogeneous catalysis.  相似文献

Microstructured surfaces have great potentials to improve the performances and efficiency of optoelectronic devices. In this work, a simple robust approach based on surface instabilities was presented to fabricate poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) (P3HT) films with ridge‐like/wrinkled composite microstructures. Namely, the hierarchically patterned films were prepared by spin coating the P3HT/tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution on a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate to form stable ridge‐like structures, followed by solvent vapor swelling to create surface wrinkles with the orientation guided by the ridge‐like structures. During spin coating of the P3HT/THF solution, the ridge‐like structures were generated by the in‐situ template of the THF swelling‐induced creasing structures on the PDMS substrate. To our knowledge, it is the first report that the creasing structures are used as a recoverable template for patterning films. The crease‐templated ridge‐like structures were well modulated by the THF swelling time, the modulus of the PDMS substrate, the P3HT/THF solution concentration and the selective/blanket exposure of the PDMS substrate to O2 plasma. UV–vis and fluorescence spectrometry measurements indicated that the light absorption and fluorescent emission were improved on the hierarchically patterned P3HT films, which can be utilized to enhance the efficiencies of organic solar cells. Furthermore, this simple versatile method based on the solvent swelling‐induced crease as the in‐situ recoverable template has been extended to pattern other spin‐coated films with different compositions. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A basic re-examination of the traditional dimensional analysis of microscopic and macroscopic multiphase flow equations in porous media is presented. We introduce a macroscopic capillary number which differs from the usual microscopic capillary number Ca in that it depends on length scale, type of porous medium and saturation history. The macroscopic capillary number is defined as the ratio between the macroscopic viscous pressure drop and the macroscopic capillary pressure. can be related to the microscopic capillary number Ca and the LeverettJ-function. Previous dimensional analyses contain a tacit assumption which amounts to setting = 1. This fact has impeded quantitative upscaling in the past. Our definition for , however, allows for the first time a consistent comparison between macroscopic flow experiments on different length scales. Illustrative sample calculations are presented which show that the breakpoint in capillary desaturation curves for different porous media appears to occur at 1. The length scale related difference between the macroscopic capillary number for core floods and reservoir floods provides a possible explanation for the systematic difference between residual oil saturations measured in field floods as compared to laboratory experiment.  相似文献

Single crystals of the phosphorylated amino acid L-O-serine phosphate were X-irradiated and studied at 10 K and at 77 K using EPR, ENDOR, and EIE techniques. Two radicals, R1(10 K) and R1(77 K), were detected and characterized as two different geometrical conformations of the protonated reduction product >CH-C(OH)(2). R1(10 K) is only observed after irradiation at 10 K, and upon heating to 40 K, R1(10 K) transforms rapidly and irreversibly into R1(77 K). The transition from R1(10 K) to R1(77 K) strongly increases the isotropic hyperfine coupling of the C-CH(beta) coupling (Delta = 32 MHz) and the major C-OH(beta) coupling (Delta = 47 MHz), in sharp contrast to the their much reduced anisotropic hyperfine couplings after the transition. An umbrella-like inversion of the carboxylic acid center, accompanied by minor geometrical adjustments, explains the changes of these observed isotropic and anisotropic couplings. DFT calculations were done on the reduced and protonated L-O-serine phosphate radical at the B3LYP/6-311+G(2df,p)//B3LYP/6-31+G(d) level of theory in order to support the experimental observations. Two different conformations of the anion radical, related by an inversion at the carboxylic center, could be found within the single molecule partial energy-optimization scheme. These two conformations reproduce the experimental hyperfine couplings from radicals R1(10 K) and R1(77 K). A third radical, radical R2, was observed experimentally at both 10 and 77 K and was shown to be due to the decarboxylated L-O-serine phosphate oxidation product, a conclusion fully supported from the DFT calculations. Upon thermal annealing from 77 to 295 K, radicals R1(77 K) and R2 disappeared and all three previously observed room-temperature radicals could be observed. No phosphate-centered radicals could be observed at any temperatures, indicating that the phosphate-ester bond break for one of the room-temperature radicals does not occur by dissociative electron capture at the phosphate group.  相似文献

A theorem due to J. Weiner, which is also proven by B. Solomon, implies that a principal normal indicatrix of a closed space curve with nonvanishing curvature has integrated geodesic curvature zero and contains no subarc with integrated geodesic curvature . We prove that the inverse problem always has solutions if one allows zero and negative curvature of space curves and explain why this not is true if nonvanishing curvature is required. This answers affirmatively an open question asked by W. Fenchel in 1950 under the above assumptions but in general this question is found to be answered to the negative.  相似文献
